Easy spring tablescape....with buttons!
Hey friends! I am a huge fan of pulling out the old nic naks every holiday season and arranging them on a sideboard I have in my dining area. Every year I usually add a little something new, like the Chick Bean Bag project of 2011 and the Paper Mache Egg project or I try and arrange things a little differently than before.
This year, with the help of some delicious buttons and ribbons from Buttons Galore and More, I put together a tablescape using upcycled glass jars and buttons!
Check it out here: Buttons Galore and More blog
I would be happier than an Easter bunny in a carrot patch if you could hop on over there and tell them I sent ya! What's your favorite spring decor tradition? I'd love to hear or post a link in the comments so I can check it out! Thanks so much for coming by today!

Just Us Girls #121 valentine's themed template/3D...LoveBirdHouse...and announcement and the WINNER!
Hello love birds! February is looming which brings the pink and red out in me....this week the Just Us Girls gang is challenging you to make a 3D/template project with a valentine's theme.
Recently on a room clean up with my daughter's we came upon a wood birdhouse that she was done with. I asked {ok, begged a little} could I PLEASE have it for valentine's day? I have this idea of making holiday houses and when these cute alterable plain wood "birdhouses" come along in so many cute designs and for right around a dollar each at Michaels, only time and inspiration can hold me back! In this case, I just recycled an old project of my daughter's!
I pumped up the roof with some gorgeous red and pink BUTTONS to serve as shingles and cute trims and papers to finish off the sides and back of the house!
Speaking of BUTTONS...I have an exciting announcement to share...I was invited to join the amazing crafters of the Buttons Galore and More Button Bevy design team!!!! I am thrilled to be a part of the Bevy and I can't wait to share my button projects with you in the coming months!
A girl could go wild using red, pink, white and hearts ya know? And you know I couldn't resist red glitter glue to outline the heart-shaped door right?!
This LoveBirdHouse is right at home among the pink and red on our sideboard cabinet.
Now it's your turn! Check out the inspiration from Just Us Girls:
Guest Designer for January...the talented Kylie
Kueter!
and one last piece of info....the winner from my MME paper giveaway is
comment #22!

Just Us Girls #90 it's 3-D time!
Hey Just Us Girls fans! Here in the US, Independence day is soon to be here on July 4th. Maria is challenging us to make a 4th of July inspired 3D or template project or a patriotic project representing where you live. Also, Maria, our very own {ippity} chick is offering a fabulous prize to one lucky participant! Now that's something to wave your crafty flag about!
I was humming the national anthem through the construction of this banner display that began a few months ago when I found this cool red, white, and blue folding yardstick. It was all a breeze from there!
I made a handful of hand colored red, white and blue twine inspired by this tutorial (darn I can't find where I saw the tutorial! I'll keep looking in order to give credit as soon as I can).
I made my twine easily using the Tim Holtz grid ruler, zig scroll and brush markers and cotton twine. I used the ruler grid to make even ink marks all the way around. Use a juicy marker to saturate the twine through with color. I also scribbled color direct to the ruler under the twine to help get even application.
Fun right?
THEN, I punched a bunch of various sized red and blue stars and sewed a paper garland on my sewing machine by feeding the stars through one after the other. I admit, I held my breath waiting for the big rat's nest of thread to appear in the spaces between the stars, but, to my happy surprise, it worked perfectly!
This fun pinwheel was made using paper I printed from this PDF download.
And finally, I layered up some glittered chipboard, star embossed paper, mini tinsel garland and the heart doily as focal points to my pennants.
Wa-lah! It's like the gateway to the county 4th of July festival sitting right on my mantel! Now which way to the pie eating contest? ;)
Ready for more sweetness from the Just Us Girls crew?
and our esteemed guest designer this month, Rosemary!

Easter link up party with Centsational Girl!
Hey friends! Here to share a quick Easter idea as part of the link party going on at Centsational Girl! Kate showcases THE most wonderful home projects you can imagine and she always keeps our dollars and "cents" in mind along with a can-do do it herself attitude. Love that!
I decided to do a little paper mache easter egg project this year using some fun vintage papers for covering my batch of blown eggs this year. For the last few breakfasts, I've been determinedly emptying the contents of the eggs so that I could stockpile a few shells for decorating.
Let's take a look at some of the papers I gathered for my project...
I grabbed some vintage book print, sheet music and a Vogue pattern and instructions.
Next, I trimmed everything into skinny strips using a paper cutter except the actual sewing pattern. For that fine paper, i just tore into small pieces.
The mix is pretty runny...to the consistency of thin pancake batter.
Next up...get messy! Dip the papers into the paper mache glue mixture, strip off the excess liquid and randomly apply to the egg shells. Dry time was approximately overnight and for my patience I was rewarded with a cute pile of vintagey eggs! Each one has it's own charm but I think the sewing pattern one is my fave!
Thanks for coming by and checking out my project. I just adore holiday inspired crafts and can't wait to check out all the links on the hop! Have a sweet day!
