How to make a candy gram card....perfect for Dad!

Hey there!  I have a fun post for Father's Day...happy Father's Day to all the daddies out there!  Today with the help of Sharpies Fine tip markers, a poster board, my computer and a bunch of sweet treats, my girls and I have a fun candy-gram card to celebrate Father's Day.

We picked up a variety of different candies and made up a message to incorporate the names of the candies within our card.  The card is made up of a blue poster board from the dollar store and we used computer generated text with details hand drawn with Sharpies.  I attached the candies using my craft adhesive from Scotch ATG.  This project was super fun and would be great for graduations, valentines, birthday parties, etc.  How cool would this candy-gram be with a gift card to the local movie theater attached or a DVD for the ultimate at home movie night?

We had a lot of giggles coming up with this gift including choosing a candy to represent the girls....we opted for "sour patch kids"!  "Sugar Babies" would have been cute too. Be sure to search "candy gram" on Pinterest and you will find all kinds of fun ideas on ways to use candy to create these cards.

I hope you had a fun weekend and thanks for stopping by!

Smash, burn and tear {?!} with Just Us Girls and OTWC

Hey blog friends!  I can't wait to share a card I got a little rough and tumble with in honor of the daddies and inspired by the Just Us Girls sketch87 and the OTWC54 colors!

As the title of this post indicates, I did in fact challenge my inner tough guy + mister fix-it with a little sentimental mixed in (the clocks and the passage of time as a daddy of two girls makes my hubs a wee bit sentimental at times *sniff*).  Starting with a distressed piece of scrap cardboard as my base was
just the ticket on this card.

A couple of whacks with a screw driver toughens up these once shiny silver brads and a piece of stained vintage measuring tape reminds us to stand up and be counted. And this card may even have a bit of a BBQ smell to it since I *might* have taken a flame to the cardboard.....  kind of a scratch and sniff sticker effect!  ;)

Oh my!  All that texture makes me swoon-y! ...just like my guy still makes my heart go pitty pat when I see him in the role of "dad" with our girls and the opportunities we've had to share a glance over their heads as we hold onto this parenthood world by it's wild, crazy and wonderful tail!

Speaking of wonderful, be sure and check out all the fabulous sketch challenge cards from the Just Us Girls team.  PLUS, we are excited to welcome Rosemary to our team as out featured designer for the month of June.  You can catch her wonderful designs at her blog Hey there...Rosigrl!.  Welcome Rosemary!  We are excited to have you as our JUG-sister this month!!

Just Us Girls #32 technique challenge ...{A perfect 10}

Hey bloggy friends!  It's already saturday again!  Time for a new challenge with the Just Us Girls crew.  This week the lovely and talented Mona has challenged us to make a pocket card.  Check out the link to a wonderful SplitCoast Stampers tutorial on Pocket Cards.

Mona has a delish vintage card sample in the swatch above and I went the clean and graphic way of the Father's Day card for my sweet hubbie.  He's a perfect 10 daddy to our girls!
The card insert is a perfect spot for a gift card and/or a handwritten message, photograph etc.
