Do a {funky} dance!

A funky NATURE dance that is! Coming to you live today from crazy town! Yes, it's true this prisoner of "crazy" escaped last night long enough to make a card for my friend's upcoming birthday...which happens to be the perfect excuse to break open the awesome Funky Nature stamps from My Cute Stamps and some new Cherry Hill paper I picked up.

The color palette came from the American Crafts ribbon! Isn't it cute? And, it made quick friends with the Cherry Hill paper.

I needed a "new" way to tie on a button so I just knotted my floss and put the knot on the front instead of hiding on the back. Fun AND funky right? This bloom also was double stamped, first with yellow and then with regal rose giving it a fun multi colored look. I love that the stems and blooms are separate in this set so you can mix and match them!

The small flower blooms in the stamp set looked great stamped in mauve at the bottom of the DP and the bold wild wasabi green stems contrast perfectly with the small print of the Cherry Hill paper. Did I mention this stamp set is a steal? Unreal! Holly knows how to make a crafty girl's heart sing...amazing images at a price that doesn't force you to choose...you can just get 'em all! ;)

What? A button?! Shocker!!! hee hee Just fulfilling my button quota for the day. They are quite charming as flowers aren't they?

Oh and remember these from a couple posts ago?

The tutorial is now up over at the Hybrid Chick blog. I hope you can check it out. Be sure and help yourself to loads of hybrid goodness over there from all of the THC creative team. They are amazing!

CPS #127 and Scrapmaster's Paradise Color Combo#9...Tea for Two

and two for tea! If it's not coffee, folks, it's tea for me in the hot beverage category. I think it was the unseasonably cool weather today in northern Cali that had me thinking fall...that means hot beverage, good book and a cozy fire. Heavens no I don't get that but in my make believe world, I can wish for anything right? LOL! I LIKE make believe :)

Today's card has been inspired by TWO fabulous challenges this week: CPS #127 and a new one to me, the Scrapmaster's Paradise challenge color combo #9.
the challenges:

my project:
Will you get a load of that darling cup stamp with heart shaped steam??! OK, it's adorable I know but, are you ready, here it is, it's a $1 Studio G stamp! GET OUT! I let out an audible gasp when I saw it buried in a basket at Joanns! I snatched her out of the basket and I may have even looked around to see if anyone was waiting in the wings to steal her away...and yes, this stamp is a "her" :). Today was the day for her maiden inking and I decided a session of paper piecing would do her justice nicely. The paper cups were embellished with some Sharpie poster paint white pen doodles as were the Papertrey vintage buttons in lemon tart. I also cut a "doily" for the cups to rest on and embossed it with swiss dots. The "doily" led to the lace and purple trims and check out the hunk of painted and distressed cardboard for the backdrop. Danger! Warning! Could see more of this cardboard in my future :) Hmmm, what else? Oh! Faux ribbon from papertrey serves as my stamped background wallpaper and I misted my pink cardstock with tattered angels vintage pink glimmer mist. The sentiment was created with stamp from Provo craft.

I'm so glad you could stop by and share a cup of tea with me. Sit down, stay awhile, let's chat, I just love hearing from you :) Have a great one!
Supplies:
Paper: Papertrey and SU!
Stamps: Papertrey, Provo Craft and Studio G
Ink: SU! and Papertrey

My Time to Create Inspiration Challenge #3 {MTTI03}

Happy saturday y'all! It is time to get down and get crafty with Lauren Meader's My Time to Create Inspiration Challenge! It's all about using her inspo photo to inspire something creative. For me it was a card and I used the color combo, the block pattern in the photo and the striped material. I also had this fab bunch of woodblock Birthday stamps from American Crafts to use from a recent box of goodies from Papercrafts magazine. Thank you Papercrafts and American Crafts for such fun stamps that worked perfectly for this project.
the challenge:

my project:
See? Aren't these just the happiest of happy birthday stamps?? :) The pennant just rocks my world and the gift was the perfect image to paper piece. I used the dotted background stamp to stamp dots over the bow portion of the package, detail cut the ribbon and bow and layered it onto the package. The whole package is popped up on foam tape too. The dotted background of the card was stamped by layering on inks from 4 different ink pads and stamping repeatedly across the strip of white. And finally the pennants were stamped and embossed with white on 4 cardstocks from Papertrey Ink: I chose Melon Berry, Summer Sunrise, Ripe Avocado and Ocean Tides. Oh! And the striped background was also stamped using Faux Ribbon from Papertrey Ink. Lots of stamp therapy going on here ;)

my project:
This extremely cute triangle box is a template from Kelleigh Ratzlaff at The Digichick Boutique! The box measures 2 1/4 inches tall and 6 3/4 inches long. Is is just high enough to fit a coffee gift card along with a few odds and ends desk supplies for a treasured teacher at my daughter's school. LOOOOOVE this cute box that opens at one end (note the pull ribbon on the right)

The *perfect* coffee cup comes from My Cute Stamps by Holly Brooke Jones as do the jelly beans turned coffee beans from her Easter stamp set. The sentiment, circle stamps and papers are all Papertrey Ink. Some other fun details are the swiss dot embossed raspberry fizz paper that has been swiped with a PTI vintage cream ink pad, the iridescent glitter on the whipped cream topping and a tiny dab of crystal effects on the paper pieced raspberry fizz heart on the cup.

I'm so glad you stopped by today....I have some news to share:) Kelleigh has asked me to join her creative team and I am SO excited! PTI Spring Fling challenge

Hey everyone :) It's Sunday evening here and I spent most of the day at a 4-H event with the family. It was a good old fashioned BBQ, raffle and mini fair. Despite the rainy morning, it was quite a lot of fun! AND a good excuse to make something :) A simple little folded envelope to hold some seed packets. A perfect and inexpensive gift for spring!
Over at Nichole Heady's blog, there is a little inspiration challenge going on. I chose Becky Oehler's graphic to work from.
I borrowed the headboard shape, the button accents (are those wall buttons the coolest or what??!), the color scheme, the floral garden look and the white on lime stripes from the sheets and this is what I got....

This cool chicken statue from Joann's was crowing my name when I walked by. I was really hoping to win him back today during the raffle but he went home with someone else. darn! Anyway, back to the spring fling challenge. I used a cool image of a rooster from SU (French Provencial set) and then PTI'd the rest. All the flowers are from Honeybees and the double pinstripe on the bottom is from Faux Ribbon. This is a new set to me and I am loving it! The double pin strip was stamped and then embossed in white and it really popped against the spring moss. All of the cardstock is PTI too.

Another fun first on this card was sizzix cutting some cork. It comes in thin sheets (I got mine at Michaels) and the daisy above cut without problems at all. Thanks to Dawn McVey for the buying tip :)

Well, that's it for today. The rooster crowed early at our house this morning so I think I will get some shut eye now. Hope you had a fabulous weekend and thanks so much for stopping by.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (PTI)
Stamps: PTI and SU
Ink: PTI, SU and colorbox
Embossing powder: Joann's
Ribbon: offray
border punch : martha stewert
Daisy sie: sizzix
Other: buttons, cork, round punch for hole reinforcement, seed packets.
