Easy spring tablescape....with buttons!

Hey friends!  I am a huge fan of pulling out the old nic naks every holiday season and arranging them on a sideboard I have in my dining area.  Every year I usually add a little something new, like the Chick Bean Bag project of 2011 and the Paper Mache Egg project or I try and arrange things a little differently than before.

This year, with the help of some delicious buttons  and ribbons from Buttons Galore and More,  I put together a tablescape using upcycled glass jars and buttons!
Check it out here: Buttons Galore and More blog

I would be happier than an Easter bunny in a carrot patch if you could hop on over there and tell them I sent ya!  What's your favorite spring decor tradition?  I'd love to hear or post a link in the comments so I can check it out!  Thanks so much for coming by today!

Just Us Girls #81 a spring template challenge

Hey JUGS fans!  We are back with more fun with Just Us Girls...this week we are challenging you to make and share a spring themed template project.  I chose a non paper project (*gasp* I KNOW!).  These cute bean bag felt chicks at Martha Stewart.com inspired me to pick up needle and thread for some sewing fun!  You can find the free template and all of the instructions at the link above.

As per usual, I made project alterations as they suited me as I worked through the steps from a pile of supplies to finished chicky.  Super fun!

For tons of spring themed template ideas, be sure and check out the JUGs DT and
     our guest designer, Teresa Kline.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.  Thanks so much for stopping by!

For this project I used a piece of vintage fabric in my stash, buttons, craft felt, pom trim from Stampin Up!, embroidery floss and rice to fill the body.  Project link provided above.

Easter link up party with Centsational Girl!

Hey friends!  Here to share a quick Easter idea as part of the link party going on at Centsational Girl!  Kate showcases THE most wonderful home projects you can imagine and she always keeps our dollars and "cents" in mind along with a can-do do it herself attitude.  Love that!
I decided to do a little paper mache easter egg project this year using some fun vintage papers for covering my batch of blown eggs this year.  For the last few breakfasts, I've been determinedly emptying the contents of the eggs so that I could stockpile a few shells for decorating.

Let's take a look at some of the papers I gathered for my project...
I grabbed some vintage book print, sheet music and a Vogue pattern and instructions.

Next, I trimmed everything into skinny strips using a paper cutter except the actual sewing pattern.  For that fine paper, i just tore into small pieces.
I used equal parts white flour and water plus a sprinkling of salt to make my paper mache glue.

The mix is pretty runny...to the consistency of thin pancake batter.

Next up...get messy!  Dip the papers into the paper mache glue mixture, strip off the excess liquid and randomly apply to the egg shells.  Dry time was approximately overnight and for my patience I was rewarded with a cute pile of vintagey eggs!  Each one has it's own charm but I think the sewing pattern one is my fave!

Thanks for coming by and checking out my project.  I just adore holiday inspired crafts and can't wait to check out all the links on the hop!  Have a sweet day!

Just Us Girls #25 color challenge....and Benjamin Bunny

Hello friends!  It's saturday and time for a new challenge with Just Us Girls!  The amazingly talented Lisa is inspiring us with color this week.  Once I saw her inspiration piece with shows Beatrix Potter's, Peter Rabbit, I knew right away I wanted to make a card featuring his buddy, Benjamin Bunny!
Benjamin has been caught stealing onions!  Isn't he the cutest little vegetable thief you've ever seen?  I paired Ben with some Cosmo Cricket DP from a few seasons ago that is vintage easter colors all over the place!
It's all in the details!  To pull some of that sage-y green down to the bottom of the card, I punched the tiny daisies and adorned them with the perfect pink pearl from Want 2 Scrap!  I glued only the centers of the flowers to the background paper so the petals could fly free.
The craft store flowers were dressed up with Martha Stewert glitter and a spritz of antique rose glimmer mist to give a slight blush to the peach ribbon rose.  The seam binding was a steal at a local second hand store.

Ready amazing color inspo from the design team?  Please check them out!

Thanks so much for coming by!  Can't wait to see what you make!

    Supplies:
    Paper: Cosmo Cricket, Georgia Pacific
    Ink: Papertrey Ink and Colorbox
    Punch: EK Success
    Pearls: Want 2 Scrap
Craft Supply:  pinking shears, sewing machine, ribbon flower, silk flower and seam binding

Just Us Girls #22 template challenge with MTME

Hello!  It's time for another template challenge with the Just Us Girls design team sponsored by Lauren Meader and My Time Made Easy!  Our challenge is to make a project using a template of any sort.  I chose Lauren's Critters with Heart box and the Bouncing Bunny paired with MTME digi papers designed by JUGs girl Kristin Bueter!  Time to start getting a little easter bunny magic up in here!
Here's comes little miss cottontail, hopping down the bunny trail....eeek!  cute huh?  I used my shiny new SCAL software to cut the template for the box and for the bunny parts.  Templates have never been any easier!  Check out this post for a discount code to Canda Crafts for your very own copy of SCAL for your Cricut.
Miss Bunny has been simply accessorized with a prima flower and pink pearl bling from Want 2 Scrap.  I inked the edges of her body cut outs with ink from Papertrey and tried my hand at drawing my own bunny face but you should know that , true to form, Lauren thought of everything and included printable faces for her critters in case you are not feeling artistic or you want to make a bunch of these and have them look the same.
Bouncing bunny can stand on her own here while she watches over the drawer that fits inside this template.  Hmmm....looks like somebody already snitched my jelly beans! .....oh wait!  That was me! ;)
I cut my bouncing bunny at about 50% it's original size since I don't have a Cricut Expression and at this size, she can easily hide inside my daughter's cute easter arrangment she made at a recent 4-H arts and crafts meeting.  Shocking that my girls like to make stuff right?

Are you ready for more template play with the Just Us Girls design team?  Be sure and check out all the details on their blogs:

So are you ready to make something???  Please link us up on the Just Us Girls blog so we can check it out!  Lauren has kindly offered up a gift certificate to one lucky participant!  Check out all of the details on the Just Us Girls blog link above.  Have a great weekend and thanks so much for coming by!  Oh and one last thing.....
