Hi there and a happy Friday to you! It's a bit gloomy here today, scattered sprinkles and cloudy skies. A good crafty kind of afternoon. I decided to put together a little gift for my daughter-in-law after seeing the inspiration photo at Papercraft Star. I focused on the colors of the photo along with the vintage feel it has. This is what I came up with...
I dug deep into the antique archives of my 6x6 paper stash and pulled out a few pieces of Cosmo Cricket: Circa 1934 paper. The colors sang to me and the paper said pick me pick me!! This is a pretty straight forward project. I started with a kraft base, scoring it to fit two PTI vintage cream note pads. I added a length of Pure Poppy satin ribbon with Scor Tape. Next I covered the front with my DP. It doesn't show in the photo (the bow is covering it) , but there is a scallop die cut strip covering the seam where the top and bottom papers meet. It's a sweet little polka dot strip too, shucks wish you could see it!!
For the focal portion of my project I die cut two SB labels 18. One using the coordinating DP and one from cream cardstock. A small Inkadinkado monogram ~E~ was stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. You see my sweet daughter-in-law, a first grade teacher, is a Mrs. Elton too *wink* I used a small paper bloom from my stash and topped it with a tiny apple that I cut in half. This little chalkboard tag is one my SIL (aka: stamping buddy) gave me eons ago. I wrote the room number on it with a white Gelly Roll pen. You can also see a bit of the kraft cardstock binding I added to the edge of the notepads. I cut a one inch strip to length, stamped it with the adorable Precious Remembrance stitching stamp then adhered it with one inch Scor Tape.
Inside are the two PTI vintage cream notepads ready for her to do lists!! I'll be giving this to her tomorrow at a family gathering. We're having a late birthday celebration for my dad. You see he has three grandchildren, our son and my brother's two daughters. One of the girls lives in NYC and doesn't get to come home that often. She and her hubby are in town for a friend's wedding today. Then tomorrow we get to have a bday party for my dad!! This was his request. No big fuss just a cookout with the family when we can all be together!!
I'm also entering this in the latest Ribbon Carousel challenge upon the advice of my friend Savannah!
That's all for me, time to get dinner in the works. Salmon today! Thanks for taking a peek, have a great weekend ~Lisa

PS ~ Thanks!
Happy Friday!! I have a shabby creation to share today that I'm entering in a new to me challenge. You see, my very dear blog friend Sue Leli is the newest member of the Papercraft Star design team! When visiting their site to wish her well I discovered their latest beautiful challenge photo. I was inspired by several things in the photo. The soft aquas and pinks,
the roses on the comfy looking chair as well as those in the frame.
I've used a pretty rose floral paper from Websters Pages
as my background. I added a bit of script paper topped with a length of
seam binding tied in a simple knot mimicking the one on the dress form
in the photo. A bit of frilly tulle trim and a paper lace doily reminded
me of the fancy lace draped on the chair. I simply adore this $1.99
clear frame stamp I picked up eons ago at Archivers. I filled it with pretty DeNami roses and adorned it with pearls and a vintage safety pin. A couple of MFT royal rolled roses for more soft texture and I think I'm good to go!
That's it for me today, things to do and more things to do! ~Lisa
