Comes the sun again. A cold Saturday started out with a lot of rain and wind, but as the afternoon came closer we decided to head out and hope for the best. We were in luck because just as we parked the car the rain stopped and the sun came out to offer us a wonderful afternoon. The thick outerwear almost came off as the sun grew stronger, and it was almost magical to watch the high tide become like a big mirror in the bay. The kids had fun wading in the shallow water and look for shrimps and sea shells while the big people warmed up with a coffee on the beach. To all of you who celebrated Mothers Day out there, I hope you had a wonderful day!

Moments | City Visit Part II

After the visit at the National Gallery we went down to the South Yarra river for a play on the Art Playground of Birrarung Mar. The kids explored the slides, climbing pyramids and all the other fun play equipment they have there. Its such a nice playground not too far from the banks of the South Yarra river. After an hour of play we finally got the kids of the playground in the form of a ice-cream promise. We walked up the steps to Federation Square and relaxed in the sun chairs there, while the kids munched on ice-cream and the adults had a coffee break.

The Federation Square is famous for its architectural uniqueness. Materials like stone, glass, metal is mixed in one big geometrical tribute, and it stands out in the middle of older more classic buildings like the yellow Flinders Station. We love to visit the ACMI building which is the Australian Centre for the Moving Image. They always have great little movie gems showing, or some interesting exhibition to explore. They also have a little store with some great finds, like art books or rare movies.

After we had a break in the sun everybody started to get a bit dozy so we decided to take the kids to Hosier Lane. A street filled with some amazing street art and great cafes. This was truly the best way to experience art for the kids. Nobody telling you "don't touch" or sigh when you wanted to do a big jump. It was such a great way to finish our day in the city and we definitely have to come back soon with the kids and do some more exploring!

Moments | City Visit - Part I

Since it was a long weekend last week we decided to do something that we don't get to do much, visit the city. Normally when we are all in the car in the morning rush shipping kids off to school, kinder and work for the parents we always talk about how nice it would be to drive by it all and just do something together, so this day we decided to do just that since it was a Monday, but we were all having a day off. Last time we visited the National Art Gallery, M was a baby. Back then it wasn't too easy because she had just started to walk and she wanted to go everywhere and touch everything. This time around we thought it would be an easy and interesting thing to do with the kids.

As it turned out 7 is a perfect age to walk around and watch amazing art works from around the world, but 4 is another story. D was super interested, but also had put in the 5th gear and wanted to run around and yes.. touch all the crazy modern art works (of course). Turns out you still see with your fingers at age 4. But all though a few... ((( don't touch ))) echoed in the art gallery, it was still a fun experience and it was neat to show the kids some of the most famous painters like Picasso, Dalí etc. M thought Picasso was fun and she liked how he painted things, although the "ladies in the paintings didn't look like they had a good time ". Since we had paid an all day parking ticket we decided to head out into the city after the gallery tour and explore all the amazing things Melbourne city has to offer. Melbourne is packed with exciting sculptures and interesting buildings, so everything pretty much turns into a big playground. The kids didn't waste anytime and went straight into climbing everything they could find. These are the days you realize just how much things there is to do with kids in Melbourne if you just take the time to park the car a bit closer to the city and just wander around.

To be continued tomorrow...

Moments | Oh Sweet Sun

M wears: Dress by nosweet / Straw hat by CTH mini / Sandals by Pom d'Api. D wears: Tee by Frank & Lu / Shorts by Munster Kids / Cap by Vans.

After being in the middle of cold rain storms lately it was a welcome break from the bad weather this weekend. On Saturday we finally got a good day with sun and warm weather so we went to our favourite beach hang out for a play and lunch. It was if everybody felt the same way and it was so good to feel the sun warm your skin up. We munched on fresh fish and chips from the beach restaurant and got a few hours in the sand. Some brave beach goes went in the water but it is still a bit too cold to really enjoy the waves.

The kids were happy dipping their legs and building sandcastles instead. It has been such an odd Spring with cold one day and warm the next. You truly don't have a clue where the day will go. Think we are all wishing for more stability in the weather soon and more days like this were it feels like you have recharged properly for a new week. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend too and are ready for a new week.

On Their Heads | CTH Mini

As Spring is fast approaching and eventually Summer not too far behind,  it is high time getting some new caps for the kids. As soon as Spring starts down here its mandatory at school and Daycare with hats on the head. Here are 3 new additions to the head wear this year. We have been a long time fan of Swedish CTH Mini who have made quality hats since 1885!

We picked the beautiful Börje Jr, VäxboLin for the boy (such a nice and airy fabric on this one) , and the unisex Frank Jr, Twill Khaki that both can use, and the Bella Jr. Chirk Cerise for the girl.
Since summer is around the corner (hopefully) over here, I will start to cover some summer items as well here on the blog, so keep your eyes out if you need to stock up on things like swim wear, summer wardrobe, summer shoes etc. They will come up under the fitting headline HELLO SUMMER soon.

For more info on CTH Mini please visit their website to find a stockists near you.
