Moments | Take Me to the Sea

D wears: White Octopus Tee by Kukukid / Mint Ship baggy pants by Kukukid / Blue Dino Hoodie by Kukukid.

I don't want to admit it, but it did feel like we got the last warm dose of the summer this weekend. The forecast had plenty of sun in store for us so we took the chance to soak it up and squeeze in a dip in the ocean before it gets too cold! It is such a treat that we could throw off the shoes and stick our toes into the warm, white sand. A lazy afternoon in the sand dunes is pretty much the best way to spend a weekend, so there were plenty of happy faces here.

We are a big fans of the fun label Kukukid, a label that focuses on rebel but cute! Their new ocean themed collection was the perfect fit for a day close to the sea. These days there seem to be less unisex clothes on the market so that is a huge plus for us. Their gender neutral prints goes so well for all kids of the family and is easy to hand down to younger siblings. I also like that they have a lovely mix of 95% cotton and a dash of 5 % spandex to create the unique stretch feeling, which makes it easier for the kids to dress themselves and it also gives the clothes a longer lasting life. We are also happy to see their trademark the rounded, longer back is still there.. it gives the tops such a nice, unique feel and transform a ordinary tee into something quite special!

We fell head over heals for the mint colour and their new navy Dino hoodie is nothing but amazing. Where can you find such a cool profile on a hoodie!? The zip goes up over the chin and is the perfect companion when the wind goes cold on you.

A Little Bit of Cheek is one of the few Australian retailers of this brand down here in Australia and they have taken in a big portion of this collection.  There you can find the cheeky octopus tee, the delicious fresh mint paper boat baggy pants and the seriously cool Dino hoodie.

I think the warm memories of this weekend will last for a while so I am happy I can return to these photos when the colder winds have taken over here... But I am sure I will remember them when ever my kids jump into these clothes again! Stay tuned for the girls wear from Kukukid which will be featured here soon!

Brand Watch | Kukukid

"We’re rebel but cute” – it is our key message. It is obvious that kids are great because of a great combination of rebellion and cuteness. That explosive mix has inspired us to create clothing brand for kids – KuKuKid.

Unisex Polish label KuKuKid has come to Australia! The brand for little rebels are now available at A Little Bit of Cheek, who are the first shop who will be selling the label here. The playful prints and the contrast colour choices are perfect for little boys and girls that like to stand out.

Moments | Leap! Part 2

D wears: Hoodie by Frank & Lu / Tee by Quinn and Fox / Jeans by I Dig Denim / Trainers by Tip Toey Joey.

Some more photos of our test run with the Leap trainers from Tip Toey Joey. D pretty much took the shoes through all forms of terrain - sand, rock, water and they seem to do well on all surfaces (well I wouldn't recommend water but what boys don't try a puddle if they see one?).

At the end of the day they got the thumbs up from the little guy who hardly wanted to take them off and only agreed to do so after I had given him permission to wear them at Kinder. So overall a really lovely shoe who gets extra point for comfort, support and good traction. Mum here gives it points for looks as well as how easy they are to put on, were as the boy thinks the L on the side who reminds him of a kangaroo foot is the coolest because he thinks he can jump higher in them ;)

Too see the earlier close up look of them go here, and to read where to find these shoes, either click on the shop source under the photos or visit the previous post for more info.

Moments | Leap! Part 1

D wears: Hoodie by Frank & Lu / Tee by Quinn and Fox / Arizona Blue jeans by I Dig Denim / Hi-top Trainers by Tip Toey Joey.

We recently were fortunate enough to get the opportunity to test try the new Leap shoes in Tip Toey Joey's Junior range. We mentioned them earlier here, but we definitely wanted to put the shoes to the test, and luckily I know the perfect boy who would really do just that.  Living on the coast we often spend time close to the water and my boy loves to spend time jumping on the big rocks, checking out the sea life and ask endless questions about the big, black swans and boats that goes by every so often. On this particular day we also spotted a big squadron of Pelicans which are quite majestic when they glide by like giants in the sky. This truly seem to be the best playground for us, and definitely a favourite hang out, and a good place to test the trainers out.

I honestly think the Leap shoes are the perfect action shoes for my boy. Since they go up a bit above the ankle they give plenty of support which is great, especially if you got a jumper like my boy. They also come with a great tough sole, with plenty of traction underneath that even make the most slippery rock an easy task to navigate over. Personally I really love the vintage look but they are also available in a black colour version which is just as nice. It doesn't get much cuter than the toddler version which of course is also available (this is how we first got familiar with the shoe company since my boy loved wearing them as a young baby/toddler.)

When your children wear new shoes for the first time there is often a bit of "breaking in" period with the shoe, or even a few falls because they haven't adjusted to them yet, but with these it was almost opposite. My boy fished up palm tree branches, jumped between rocks and set new records in how long he could jump out in the sand, all while I didn't hear a single peep about any chafing or soar heels. D gave them a real going over, and even stepped in a few rock pools, but all that happened to the shoes is perhaps they got an even better vintage look! I can definitely say two thumbs up from both mum and boy and definitely something we can recommend for both active boys and girls.

We had such a good afternoon by the bay that the camera worked on overdrive. I would like to share some more photos so tune in tomorrow for part 2!

Brand Watch | Quinn + Fox

Californian label Quinn and Fox is coming out with a new collection entitled Protect My Youth. The new label was born in 2013 by a husband and wife duo with two curly girls by their side. They utilize organic materials in all their designs and make sure they create some unique bold prints by collaborating with interesting artists each season. I love the earthy tones and colour choices in their collection and especially in the photos above.

Right now you can pre-order some of these tees over at A Little Bit of Cheek, but be quick since the stock is limited and the label has gotten very popular it might be gone in a hurry.

Moments | We Love Fridays

D wears: Tee by Bobo Choses / Pants by Nununu / Cap by Mini & Maximus / Shoes by Natives.

Ah Fridays! We are at the end of a week but it feels like brand new start and back to routines. There has been big changes for the whole family really. M started a new grade, with new classmates and a new teacher. D started a new kinder, with new kids and new teachers, mum here got new days to work on and have to make a big switchero to again puzzle together a working week, and dad have a taken on a new position at work with leading a bigger team and more responsibility.

Fridays used to be a bit of a relaxing day with just my little man to focus on, but with the switch it is now my child free day with work instead. It will feel different, but I guess different is good sometimes. We will work it out, and find new ways to make Friday rock for all of us. So yes, we still love you Friday, you whisper sweet promises of a lovely weekend ahead!

Moments | Chesterfield Children's Farm

M wears: Fleece by Bobo Choses / Skirt by April Showers / Leggings by Soft Gallery / Tee by ESP no.1 D wears: Tee by Chasers Kids / Denims by Pumpkin Patch / Fleece by Bobo Choses / Cap by Munster Kids.

Both kids voted for seeing some animals this weekend, so on Saturday we drove up to Chesterfield Children's Farm ( I have written about it before here). It is a fully operational farm that is open daily for families ( you can buy feed bags and several times a day they have tractor rides and learn how to milk a cow sessions). I still find it funny as a Swede to come to a farm and find animals like Ostriches, Camels, Lamas and Alpacas. But of course you also find the more common ones like lambs, goats, pigs, rabbits, horses, cows etc.

Both kids got their own feeding bag and went right to it. It took a while for the kids to work up their courage to feed the bigger animals, but they finally got there. M fed the most gorgeous deer which was all white and so gentle. We had a great time walking around, going on a tractor ride (which sent D into a euphoric state... traaaactors!) The highlights of the day was seeing the kids just interacting with the animals, and the parents had a few share of their own interactions. I had to range in an escaped baby lamb who got out of its pen (read D opened the pen door) and carry it back in. And the cheeky ostrich (see pic) who took a whole feed bag from the Dad who bravely wanted to show us how you feed an ostrich the right way! All of us giggled while Dad here tried to get it back... needless to say he lost the battle, and the ostrich had a good, big lunch.

A great way to spend a Saturday and definitely something the kids remembers and love to visit again.
