The corrupted mind

Two days ago sitting in front of the Fuso Szulc on the self build terrace overlooking the bay of El Triple and seeing the waves of the Pacific Ocean roll in, the head was turned and a field came into view.
A green field surrounded by rows of bushes covering the rolling hills.

It was realized that a visit to this location had happened before.
With someone there had been a picnic on that field some time ago.

But then the thinking reached a barrier.
Was that field there or was it a memory?
This enigma was quickly solved: there are no green fields to see at El Triple.
In 2010 there has hardly been any rainfall: nature is as dry and sordid as ever.

The thinking reached a new stage: the visual memory of the green field, was it a memory of a green field that actually exists somewhere or was it a memory of a field that had been seen in a dream?
There the thinking stalled.
Because the answer could not be found.

For over an hour life became paralyzed searching in the mind if ever that green field had been really visited.
With who then had that picnic been?
Where could that green field be?
But if it had been in a dream, what had the dream been about?
How recently had that dream been?
And why would that detail of the dream come suddenly so strongly into the consciousness?

Eventually this intensive process of contemplation was halted.
It could not come to a satisfactory conclusion.
No determination if it was a memory of a place that really exists or a memory of a green field from a dream.

As of then, there is a certain worry.
If in the mind it cannot be known anymore if a memory is from the past reality or from an old dream, thinking becomes a most unreliable activity.
And disturbing because a memory can initiate a feeling.
A mood and emotions.
If a memory makes sad or happy but is a memory coming from dreams, it is the non-reality forcing upon us a feeling.
Corrupting an essential aspect of us human beings.
It can be wonderful and healing to remember events from the past with its accompanying emotions.
But if those events get mixed up with often absurd contents from dreams we unwillingly remember, we are in fact lost.

If we are sure it is a memory from the past that really happened, there is no problem.
But if it is a green field from a dream, we are pushed out of balance.

But maybe this is what a retreat, now in its 28th day, is doing.
The awareness gets so high and the space to think so big, that contradictions, faults and paradoxes get noticed in the thinking process.
Which is a good thing.
Thinking is great when playing chess but not to live spiritually.
When flaws are discovered in the thinking process, it becomes more easy to distance oneself from that unreliable activity.
Once thinking stops, pure life begins.

the fatal fantasy failed.

Two days ago there was the usual daily running.
This time not on the long beach but on the land.
Due to a strong northwestern wind.
The track on the land that makes a circle through the desert among bushes and cactuses and rocks and dust for about 50 minutes.

It is an exhausting and challenging run because the road goes up and down, is uneven and full of rocks.
And occasionally a big snake may be resting on the track.

But two days ago there was an additional experience running on that road.
Out of nothing a very, very strong feeling was experienced that somebody ahead was standing there.
Waiting to meet the runner.
And this person waiting was wearing a long black cloth with a cape.
With in his hand a scythe.
Immediately it was realized this was Mr. Death himself.

Of course many times in books this phenomenon of Death as a man in a long black dress and wide cape with a scythe in one hand was read being described.
And it has been seen as an image often.
But it was always believed that this image of Death was the result of human fantasy.
How man imagines how Death manifests itself when the moment has come.
A caricature.
A childish and naive representation of something or someone we can’t know anything about.

But then we don’t really know.
When the moment has come to die, why not could it be that a creature with a scythe in the hand comes to guide us to forever?
And while running and experiencing and feeling so incredibly strongly that in front Mr. Death was waiting, the thought grounded that maybe this is actually as it is.
When we die a creature in a wide black coat with a cape hiding the face and a scythe in the hand comes to meet us.

This is a frightening thought, fervent and loyal blog readers.
Becoming convinced that Mr. Death actually exists and is the one to meet as the last experience before to die.
And that in less than a minute he will be met because he is waiting there.

This conviction, how ridiculous and preposterous as it was, nevertheless was extra firm and royally reigning.
It was deeply believed the last steps in life were being made.
That in the days to come some Mexican visiting the area to dive for oysters would find the corpse of the athlete already partly consumed by coyotes.
A European man died of a heart attack while running.

And actually this is not an unlikely scenario.
In the family two generations ago heart attacks were common.
This because of genetic high levels of cholesterol.
Nowadays several members of the family have also this issue but live longer by taking medication, artificially lowering the too high level of cholesterol.
The pioneering photographer has been diagnosed having this family characteristic as well and doctors insisted to take daily cholesterol lowering medication.
This has been refused.
Never in the life the body was bothered with medication having the philosophy that when it is time to go, it is time to go.
But that meanwhile it is wise to have a very well balanced diet and regime of physical exercise plus being mentally balanced and in harmony as a strategy to stay alive.
This works well until now and the body is thankfull for not having to digest chemical substances with severe side effects.

But more and more it is becoming likely that Mr. Death might be met.
It can’t take more time than life has been enrolling itself already.

And there on this rough road running it was strongly felt he was there.
Total conviction the moment had come.
Goodbye life.

But then the book of Carlos Castaneda “A separate reality” was remembered in which a Mexican Indian Shaman called Don Juan explains that life must be lived as a warrior.
That one has to fight for independence, balance, harmony and enlightenment.
Not fighting as we humans do each other with weapons and napalm and waterboarding.
But in this context it is fighting in a spiritual way.
To remain in the own tracks and grounded in the own karma and to not being fished out of the stream of the own life.
By making choices out of total conviction.
From the heart and the soul synchronistic with life and the universe.

And remembering Don Juan and his wise lessons it was realized that Mr. Death was indeed there in front waiting to take the runner out of life.
But that still being alive a choice could be made.
The choice to deliver oneself to Mr. Death and go with him as a lamb to the altar.
Or to chose to stay alive and be stronger than Mr. Death.
To not allow even Mr. Death permission to terminate a process of growing.
Because it is far from finished.

The choice was instantly made without hesitation.
And the fatal fantasy failed.

within you without you

And then suddenly, while cooking the evening meal, a car came by.
Two good friends from La Paz visiting.
Bringing fresh sushi from town and a bottle of Shiraz from Australia.

In La Paz, they reported, the local business men had organized an event.
To make in the center of town the largest burrito in the world.
For this extravagant event all schools were closed for two days.

An opportunity for the friends to get out of the warm and noisy and dusty and polluted town and find some harmony and peace at El Triple.

Hence, from one moment to the next, life changed from being in solitude into being with friends.
Listening and talking and sharing and laughing.
Because for over 25 days nobody has been visiting and on not too many occasions conversations happened through Skype, the muscles in the throat that are used to talk had been going out of shape.
Therefore, talking became a painful activity.
Even losing the voice.

A most interesting observation was made that reality when in solitude is very different from the reality that is created when with a group of people.

Some people prefer to always be in a kind of solitude to pamper themselves with this status.
On the other hand, there are people who detest solitude and absolutely need to always be surrounded by others.
And then there are the people who take the best of both worlds.
To alternate periods of solitude with periods of having company.

With that approach life is always within you and without you:

We were talking-about the space between us all
And the people-who hide themselves behind a wall of illusion
Never glimpse the truth-then it's far too late-when they pass away.
We were talking-about the love we all could share-when we find it
To try our best to hold it there-with our love
With our love-we could save the world-if they only knew.
Try to realize it's all within yourself
No-one else can make you change
And to see you're really only very small,
And life flows on within you and without you.
We were talking-about the love that's gone so cold and the people,
Who gain the world and lose their soul-
They don't know-they can't see-are you one of them?
When you've seen beyond yourself-then you may find, peace of mind,
Is waiting there-
And the time will come when you see
we're all one, and life flows on within you and without you.

The Beatles.

Seeing somebody

When a thing happens in life, it is an event that stands by itself.
That very moment it is experienced unattached from a structure or a pattern where it may come from.

For example, if somebody is nasty to you, as much as you can, you deal effectively with the nastiness coming your way in that moment.
To neutralize it and to avoid becoming a victim of the nastiness.

But later when you are by yourself, you can use your time to reflect.
And when there were more incidents with that person, you will be able to group the remembered events.
To see them then in a context.
In a frame of time and with neutrality.
To maybe come to the conclusion that the person that was nasty, is actually often nasty and therefore is a nasty person.

This Spring three months were spend in Mexico with the Queen of Dreams.
A long time at the very location where life is now: at El Triple.
During that period at El Triple with the Queen of Dreams almost every day something unpleasant happened.
And each incident was so grotesque that all efforts were needed to deal with the problem that was made.
Because of the frequency and the intensity of the complications and confrontations, never was there time to create distance and see things in perspective to come to conclusions.

Now there has been a return to El Triple where this Spring the dramatic events took place.
Because it is peaceful and quiet now, many memories come back of the amazing behavior and attitude of the person that was invited to come.
And now these events that are memorized group themselves and in this way a personality and character becomes clear.
Independent events weave themselves into a recognizable pattern.

When in a mode of retrospection, the person behind all those destructive activities is as in a MRI scanning machine.
A clear picture emerges who that person really is.

This evaluation of a period in life with someone changes the position from, what Carlos Castaneda calls, looking into seeing.
While a dramatic event unfolds, there can only be looking.
In surprise, in awe, in indignation and in amazement.
Too busy to control the situation to do more than simply looking.
But when time and separation create distance and neutrality, one can start seeing.

This is a great step forwards because when having an overall picture of how a person really is, to truly see a person, one can decide what place to give that person in the life.
So that it is happy, productive and in balance again.

Food and water we need

In Primary School was a smart boy who asked his friends:
“How far can you see? And a margin of error of one kilometer is tolerated.”

Many boys would think hard and harder and eventually come up with an answer like: 10 kilometers on a clear day.
The smart boy would then laugh and say:
“Can you see the moon and the stars?
They are much more far away than 10 kilometers!!”

There is always a smart boy who misuses his intelligence to make other boys feel stupid.
But next time the smart boy can be more precise.
Because a new galaxy has been discovered that is the most far away object we humans have ever seen.
Seen by the Hubble Space Telescope, the galaxy called UDFy-38135539 is some 13 billion light years away.

According to Bishop James Ussher (1581-1656) though, God created the universe on October 23, 4004 BC.
That would make the universe 6023 years old in 2010 AD.
James Ussher was an Irish Archbishop whose chronology of Biblical history was widely accepted throughout Christianity.

But this time we are not fooled.
It is a scientific discovery made with hardware and no God of any Church has been involved.

By itself, the discovery of galaxy UDFy-38135539 is of no extraordinary significance.
There are over 100 million galaxies in the cosmos.
It is just that this one is the most far away we have ever seen.

And this makes us speculate about another thing.
The majority of the scientists believe that the “Big Bang”, the point in time when the universe was coming into existence, is roughly 13,6 billion years ago.
Now we are able to see the light of a galaxy that was shining 13,1 billion years ago.
(Distance is time, remember)
If we can improve our telescopes we may manage to look back in time to the moment of 13,6 billion years ago and see our own moment of creation!

This is not absurd or impossible.
These days scientists and engineers are building the “European Extremely Large Telescope” that will be ready the end of this decade.
This revolutionary new ground-based telescope will be 42 meters in diameter and will be the world's biggest eye on the sky.

But Dutch ex-astronaut Wubbo Ockels says it will be impossible to see the Big Bang, no matter how big we make our telescopes.
He claims that there are different realities.
One is a reality we have in our thinking that is created by being based on earth.
But according to Mr. Ockels, in space a totally different reality exists.
Where questions we have now do not have answers.

This is in line with the own attitude in life.
For a long time it is accepted that there are fundamental questions we humans have but that one can also learn to be satisfied with accepting there are no answers.
To let things are simply the way they are.
And to not get lost in a search for answers.

This way of thinking makes those telescopes of course a waste of money.
And they are.
The money could better be spend on improving the life on earth.
Let that become the big bang.

a cosmos of quality

Now life is in a small house of a friend.
This friend has never been met.
There have been a few e-mail communications and a few things are known about her but in general she is a totally unknown.

This makes it so interesting to be in this small house.
It is decorated and there are many objects and each item tells something about who she is.

Step by step things are learned about her.
Aspects discovered.
Where are her interests.
What she is doing.

Her house tells she is a very nice person.
There are two huge cats who are in spite of their nature very friendly and shyless.
And soon one can understand her life is centered around two things.
One is her boyfriend.
And the other is the yoga she is practicing.
And it is obvious why there are these two centers: it is a woman who is full of love.
Celebrating life in a simple and honest and pure way.

It is a privilege to be in this house.
To enter and stay in a cosmos of quality.

Her name is Patricia.
Which means: noble.

we are all busy

She said, but then you are very busy.
In spite of everything that has happened there are still telephone conversations and occasionally meetings on neutral territory.

But to be very busy, as she was imagining, is an unknown concept.
One thing is done followed by another thing.
And that is always the situation.
Never it happens that one thing is done not followed by another thing.
Even lazy people live by this rule: they watch TV and then get a beer from the fridge followed by a bite and then a nap.
A series of small events that fill their lives as much as the series of events that take place in the life of the general manager of Pepsi Cola.
Therefore, nobody among us is more important than anybody else.
We all do things, one thing after the other thing, and also our excrements are colored in the same way.

A diamond found.

It doesn’t happen very often.
That a person is met, a conversation is started and soon a feeling arises that it is a swimming pool.
With nice warm water.
To swim in it endlessly.
Floating on the back.
Diving deep once in a while.
Circling around each other.
Embracing.
And time and space and existence become eternal.

In other words, a person is met and the feeling runs away.
Totally unrealistic and absurd but how wonderful that feeling is.

These are diamonds found on the road of life.
Shining, glittering and so pleasing to the eye and the heart.

The hula baloney

Eddy came with fresh Polish sausages, a bottle of French Elzas wine and a lot of warmth and friendship.
Cousin Jerzek fired up the limousine like barbecue and we all sat around the table on the terrace overlooking the illuminated garden and talked.

Eddy wanted to know for how long the stay in Poland had been.
He mentioned that it was possible to be happy in Poland only when the language was not understood.
Because Eddy says: it is total bullshit in this country.
The issues that play in Poland, the trouble that is made, the corruption that is going on, the materialism that grabs everybody, the conflicts that rise, the politicians who fight.
Eddy says he has had enough.
He can’t live in his country anymore.

Eddy’s plan is to sell his business and house in Poland and to leave with that money to retire on one of the Polynesian islands.
“I am tired, Michel, I am SO tired” Eddie says dramatically.
He desperately longs for sipping a cocktail under a palm tree with his feet in the white sand enjoying the sun and watching the hula of the Polynesian girls.

This is Eddy’s dream but what he doesn’t realize it is a potential nightmare.

The first thing is that nowhere on earth paradise can be found.
It is an illusion to think that if one is not happy in one country, happiness will come by moving to another country.
It is also an illusion to believe that a Polynesian island comes close to paradise.
Once there many things will be discovered as most unpleasant.
Like the flies and other insects that constantly bother.
And to be a stranger among Polynesians.
To become very lonely.
To be outside of a society and not participating in it anymore.
To become an outcast.
Boredom will creep up and eventually dominate.
The sun shining abundantly every day makes a European long for the changes of the seasons.
Alcoholism may become rampant.
And in the end, life is as unhappy as it was before at the point of origin.

It is probably true a lot of bullshit is going on in Poland.
But this goes for many countries.
There is no country where no bullshit is going on.
And in every country a lot is going on what cannot be considered as bullshit.
Beautiful things, good things, nice things, interesting things.

Therefore Eddy should realize that his malcontent with his country has everything to do with himself.
And that his dream of going to a Polynesian island is nothing but a smokescreen in order not to see that the problem is within himself.

What to do when a good friend is met who is that unhappy and ignorant?

It will not help at all to explain there are constantly flies on every Polynesian island.
And that the girls only dance the hula for money.

It also will not help to try to explain that when bullshit is noticed everywhere, that it is a reflection of oneself.

And it certainly will not help to suggest to the friend that some personal problem resolving would be the way out of the mess.

One can only listen.
And definitely not identify.
To remain balanced.
And to accept that each river has to flow.
Eventually, we all end up in the sea anyway.

The fish in the sky

When a Queen abdicates.
Or regretfully falls from her throne.
Beautiful and fascinating princesses dance onto the scene.
To whirl their femininity around the male island now available to visit again.
Proud and prestigious princesses transforming into gliders finding thermal: the upward current of warm air.
Taking the man in their arms for company on their fantastic journey
Circling up higher and higher and therefore provoking a hallucinating experience of reaching fabulous landscapes where Paradise may be found.

And there is always the question.
That on that journey in the immense sky an answer is hoped for to be found.
The question: where is home?
That means: where do I belong?
As Country Joe and the Fish were singing:

Who am I ?
To stand and wonder, to wait
While the wheels of fate
Slowly grind my life away.
Who am I ?

There were some things that I loved one time,
But the dreams are gone that I thought were mine,
And the hidden tears that once could fall
Now burn inside at the thought of all
The years of waste, the years of cryin'
The passions of a heart so blind;
To think that, but even still
As I stand exposed, the feelings are felt
And I cry into the echo of my loneliness.

What a nothing I've made of life
The empty words, the coward's plight
To be pushed and passed from hand to hand
Never daring to speak, never daring to stand
And the emptiness of my family's eyes
Reminds me over and over of lies
And promises and deeds undone
And now again I want to run
But now there is nowhere to run to.

And now my friend we meet again and
We shall see which one will bend
Under the strain of death's golden eyes
Which one of us shall win the prize
To live and which one will die
'Tis I, my friend, yes 'tis I
Shall kill to live again and again
To clutch the throat of sweet revenge
For life is here only for the taking.

Human warmth

What I need, the Queen of Dreams said this morning, is human warmth.
And she moved herself against the other body and in a most close embrace enjoyed all the warmth she longed for.

Human warmth?
Yes, the one that is different from the warmth one can feel when taking a sunbath.
Which is also an exquisite sensation: to feel the sun warming the naked skin.
There are people who spend hours laying in the sun to feel this warmth.
Enjoying how the body absorbs it to make the muscles and the bones feel young again.
Flexible and painless.

Human warmth?
The one that is different from the warmth of a heater.
From an electric heater or a gas heater.
Or from a wood stove or the radiator of a central heating system.
To put the body close to it and feel the warmth radiating while outside it is snowing and the wind blows the animals into their hideouts.
To feel the warmth on one side of the body and the cold on the other side.
To put the hands to the fire and feel the energy from wood logs that have been growing for years donating now the warmth one craves for.

Human warmth?
The one that is different from the warmth that feels when one takes a bath.
In a bathtub or in the warm sea.
When the water is maybe 25º C (77º F).
To enter the bathtub and immediately feel this ultimate comfort of the perfect harmony between the temperature of the body and the one of the water.
Or to dive into the warm sea and immediately feel a unification with the water because of its wonderful temperature.
In the steaming bathtub or the tropical sea, one can feel like being surrounded by warmth as during the time when a child in the womb of the mother.

But all these situations with warmth, in the sun, near the fire and in the sea, do not compare to the warmth the Queen of Dreams found this morning.
Because human warmth is more than just temperature.
It comes with love.

A Sunday tour

Today is Sunday and therefore the tour brings the visitors to a special place inside the Fuso Szulc.
The area on the table that is considered to be the altar.

Here certain relics are exposed to influence positively the life of the inhabitants.

First of all we find a statue of Bhudda.

Siddhartha Gautama was a spiritual teacher from India who founded Bhuddism.
He lived about 400 years before Christ and after becoming enlightened, at the age of 35, he obtained insight into the nature and cause of human suffering.
His teachings include the steps necessary to eliminate the ignorance causing this suffering and can be found in his Four Noble Truths:

1. There is suffering.
2. There is a cause of suffering.
3. There is the cessation of suffering.
4. There is the eigthfold path leading to the cessation of suffering.

On the altar are also different stones.
First we find on the altar a small pyramid of mountain crystal.
Mountain crystal is a colorless and clear quartz.
It is a stone of force that harmonizes and brings enlightenment.

The stone in the shape of a heart is of pink quartz.
Pink quartz is a stone of love and forgiveness.

The round purple mineral on the altar is an amethyst stone.
That heals, purifies and creates inner peace.

Finally, we see a beautiful necklace on the altar.
Made of the stone called jade.
That gives peace, harmony and wisdom.

When it is full moon all these stones are put outside and placed in the bright light.
A very old tradition.
In this way the stones are charged with energy to radiate this later from the altar.

There is also an image on the altar.
A woman caring for a child.
This is a copy of a painting by Pablo Picasso
titled "Motherhood".

Last, we see a small statue on the altar that consists of two parts connected to each other.
When closed, the outside shows two hands.
Opened, we see two statues carved in the wood that represent two Hindu gods.
One is Shiva, the destroyer of negativity.
The other Ganesha, the God of wisdom.

In the evening, when the sun is about to set, candles are lighted and put on the altar.
While nearby, from the wall an image of Osho is looking what is going on.
And shares love and harmony.

The City of Death

In a railway station.
Many people moving to catch a train or to go home.
Noise, nervousness, transit turmoil.

In the large hall the Queen of Dreams is standing talking to the pioneering photographer.
As always, she is dressed in an attractive way making many men and women turn their heads.

And then it is time to say goodbye and find the platform from where the train will leave.
But suddenly it is realized that the name of the city to travel to is unknown.
Or not remembered.
A kind of panic breaks out.
Which train to take when it is not known where to go?

Quickly in the briefcase the travel documents are looked for.
Because on the train ticket the destination will be printed.

Meanwhile the time of departure is coming real close and one has to run and hurry to catch the train.
But again, which train?

While looking for the train ticket one platform after the other is rapidly visited to check if there is the correct train.
But which train is correct?

In the briefcase a travel document is found but it simply allows to travel on trains without indicating any destination.

A station master is spotted and approached.
He is asked which train to catch but what can he reply?
If the traveller doesn't know his destination?

The situation ends by realizing that any train could be boarded when one doesn't know his or her destination.

Because in life it is not about destination.
It is about getting there.

The only city that exists at the end of the line is called Death.

To completeness

The days at El Triple now.
A place where is the Pacific Ocean, the beach, the desert and the sky.
And the only thing else is the person being there.

By being there the location becomes one big mirror.
And the image that is seen is of an extreme clarity.
Nothing can hide anymore the true self.

This time it is not a solitary presence at El Triple.
It is together with the Queen of Dreams.
Who is deeply loved.
And it has become clear that the mirror of El Triple is able to reflect not only the two individuals but the two together as well.

A mirror is a neutral thing.
It will show whatever that needs to be reflected.
The things that are beautiful.
The things that are dark and fearful.

The good thing of being with a mirror is that at least things can be seen.
And that El Triple has a harmony that allows a person to truly realize what is seen in the mirror.
To accept peacefully the confrontation without getting upset or insulted or annoyed or defensive.
And use what is seen to become more complete.

The wind or the thief

In Mexico City a remarkable thing can be seen on the roof of apartment buildings.
There are large cages.
One for every household in the building.

Inside these cages people hang their laundry to dry.

The thought that came to mind was that these cages were used to avoid that the neighbors would steal the clothes.
But the Queen of Dreams had another theory.
According to her the clothes are in a cage to prevent them from being blown away from the roof.

Two ways of looking at something.
One based on expecting bad things from people.
One based on being more positive about people.

In the end it doesn't matter what is the true purpose of those cages on the roofs of the apartment buildings in Mexico City.
A visitor sees them, makes an interpretation and eventually leaves town.
However, the interpretation decides partially how one feels while visiting.

To see things in a positive way is more likely to offer a happy time visiting a city compared to seeing things from a darker angle.

These conversations with the Queen of Dreams are so educational.
By opening up for her way of thinking and feeling, often a new perspective can be adopted that is more positive and beautiful.

The wind or the thief.
The Queen of Dreams comes to relief.

Complete living

A man lives in an apartment in a building.
A simple flat.
A small living-room, a bedroom, a kitchen and a bathroom.
Just enough for a simple and easy life.

Because of tragic circumstances his sister becomes homeless.
And moves in with the man in the small flat.

Now there are two people living in the small living room.
Using the bathroom and the kitchen.
The woman sleeps in the bedroom and the man on the couch in the living room.

This goes relatively well.
Of course the man has lost his privacy now that his sister is around.
And he has to make several compromises to be able to live in peace with the sister.
But OK, he is helping out his sister and she is doing her best too.

Until one day the brother of the two occupants of the small flat knocks on the door.
He is in terrible circumstances and needs instantly a place to stay.
The brother and sister have no other option but to take in the stranded brother.
Now there are three people in the small living-room.
The sister still in the bedroom and the two men sleeping on the couch and one on an inflatable mattress on the floor of the living-room.
Three people now using the bathroom, when it is available, and cooking in the kitchen.

In a very short time the privacy of the original occupant of the apartment has reduced drastically.
And each one has to make tremendous compromises to have some kind of harmony in the flat.

Soon there are conflicts.
These three people simply live together in a space too small.
Irritations are born, arguing starts to take place and eventually, although they are close family members of each other, they are hating and fighting.

Eventually the man who owns the apartment just leaves.
It is impossible to live with two more people there.
That is not a life.

How different it is when someone is in the heart.
When a person comes to open the heart to let someone in.
In that situation it is felt that the more the other person is coming into the heart, the more elating it feels.
It is not a matter of sharing the existing space.
It is discovered that the heart is flexible.
It can expand and grow and become more vast to house the one who has come to be there.

And contrary to overcrowding in a house, the more the presence of the one in the heart is felt, the more happy it makes.
The heart expands infinitely and the emotions grow and flourish.

It is even so that a heart can have many who are there.
A heart is never full.
When a baby is born, it is immediately in the hearts of the ones involved.
Nobody is ever refused because a heart is full.

A person that lives alone in an apartment is not having problems how to use the available space and amenities.
And many prefer this way of living.
To be alone in the house
But to live with a heart that is closed, to be alone in the heart, is incomplete living.

From thinking to feeling.

From single to dual.
One effect is that on the body now scratches magically have appeared.
And that the space inside the Fuso Szulc has been halved.
But the major effect is the enlarging of the heart that is growing into a volume never experienced before.
Filled with beauty, bliss, harmony, peace, care, solidarity, concern and affection.

But also the sea contained two souls as if paradise can exist.
Floating on the waves with a bright sun in a blue sky.

This amount of happiness can be scaring.
It is of such a purity and intensity that the thinking comes up with the concept of guilt.
And fear and a sense that it is not deserved.
That such an extreme state can only come at a price.

But that is the thinking.
Moving into negative territory and into a time that is not.
While the feelings, totally in the here and now, are content and enjoying.
Entering every moment so deep there is no tomorrow.

From single to dual is from thinking to feeling.

The Boran and the Kible

It has been scientifically proven that there is no heaven and hell.
Therefore we can all sit back and relax now that we know that high above us there is no heaven and deep down under us there is no hell.

However, before we relax too much, there are two things we should never forget.
The two things called fear and greed.
That are not located somewhere out there in space.
Or deep underneath us.
They are located right inside ourselves.

And certain religions, long time ago, discovered fear and greed.
And used them as a way to control the people.
To fear the concept of hell was connected.
To greed the concept of heaven.

This is one of the reasons why a person with a well functioning mind will not take religions serious.
They are man made inventions to manipulate and to control.
Religions are not even close to God and Godliness.

Two days ago in a Café Exquisito coffeeshop in La Paz, Baja California, Mexico, two well dressed young man were sitting at a table.
Americans.
In between them they had a Bible.
One was teaching the other.
Asked: "What questions do you have in your life?"
The student replied: "Well, like, where do we come from, why do we live, what will happen to us eventually, that kind of thing".
This was a great opportunity for the Bible teacher.
"Where do we come from" ?
Go to chapter such and such on page 567 and read what Paul had to say about this.
"Why do we live"?
Go to chapter such and such on page 432 and read what Peter gives as an answer.
And so on.
Every question about life the ignorant and simplistic boy had, the answers were there in the Bible according to the teacher.

Therefore, the attention of the Bible teacher was requested.
He looked and listened and was first puzzled when he heard:
"Hey Mr. Bible teacher, do you realize that right now two guys are sitting in a tearoom in Karachi, Pakistan with in between them the Koran and one is, like you, explaining life to the other based on their holy book?"

To that question the bible teacher obviously had no answer: no chapter in his book with instructions about how to live was giving him an adequate answer.
His common sense though should have told him that it was true: religious fundamentalism and its brainwashing is happening all over the planet.
Based on different books but all with the same devastating effects.

The two men stood up, paid for their coffee and left.
They preferred to continue to believe in heaven and hell instead of recognizing and self-handle their fear and greed.

Where does a bird spend the night?

When we see a bird, do we know where this bird has been spending the night ?

This is a question specially designed not to have an adequate answer.

Therefore, do not reply by saying: the bird was sleeping in the tree.
It is not an adequate and precise enough answer.
It is an answer to get the question out of the way.

We do not know if that bird actually was sleeping in a tree.
And if it did, we don't know which tree.
And if we know which tree, we don't know what branch.
Because we never see at night birds sleeping in the tree.
In any case, we see many more birds than we see nests in the trees.

So why come up with a question that has no adequate answer?
Because the purpose of the question is not to find an answer.
The purpose of the question is to meditate.

There are moments in the day when we have to wait or are by ourselves.
Time to reflect and think.
The perfect moment to ask yourself: where is a bird spending the night?
Stops you from worrying about paying taxes.
Or to think about the conflict you have with your neighbor.
Or the fear you feel for the visit to the oncologist tomorrow.

The thinking spins around the question and considers different answers without finding an absolute one.
In this way the mind is manipulated and put in a dead end street.
It is being made impotent and powerless.
It loses its ability to dominate and control our feelings and actions.

Ha, ha: we laugh at the thinking because we can be the master of it with asking a very simple question: where is the bird we see spending the night!

In this area where thinking is in a closed circle unable to move anywhere else, relief and even exaltation can be found.
Because one becomes finally free of the constant worrying and the frantic fantasizing in a negative way.

This method is not recently invented.
It is very old and practiced by Zen masters.

Question:
With who do Zen masters sleep at night?
