Today the last American soldiers crossed the border of Iraq into Kuwait.
After 7,5 years, a military intervention has ended.
Hundreds of thousands of Iraqi’s have lost their lives.
The Americans lost 4.419 persons in Iraq.
And has paid over 780 billion Dollars for this war.
In spite of what is called the last American soldiers leaving Iraq, 50.000 remain behind.
To train and lead the Iraqi army.
They will leave January 1, 1012.
Is this good news?
That Obama kept his promise to be out of Iraq before August 31?
Any answer to this question could be meaningfull.
There is no right and no wrong in this.
But one could say that this Iraq war, the third Gulf war, was a terrible mistake.
It was started by a bloodthirsty and revengeful President.
And the whole world was manipulated with false information to believe it was the right thing to do.
And to even join the fighting as many other countries did.
Once it started, it was difficult to stop it.
It would have been the recognizing of having made a mistake.
And that is an impossibility for a world power.
Foreign troops are out of Iraq now but the war President Bush started is not over.
The ethnic clashes, in control during the reign of Saddam Hussein, have erupted once Iraq was invaded, the Baath Party made illegal and Sadam hanged.
Even last Tuesday a suicide bomber killed 59 persons.
Obama can claim the job has been finished but it is going to take many years before there is peace in Iraq.

Say no, Mr. President
How about awarding the gold medals to certain athletes for the next Olympic Games before these Games have even started?
How about giving a couple of millions to somebody as the winning price for a lottery before is known which ticket has won?
How about claiming your daughter is Miss World even before she is wearing her first bra?
These thoughts came to mind when it was learned that President Barack Obama of the USA has been awarded the Nobel Peace Price.
His Olympic gold medal, his millions for the lottery and his first bra.
Because, let's be fair, what impressive results has Mr. Obama achieved until now that justifies the Nobel Peace Price?
He has all kinds of good intentions for sure.
But those are words only.
Meanwhile the Palestinian-Israelian conflict is worse than ever as Israelian foreign minister Lieberman has explained yesterday.
The trouble with Iran and North Korea is now not different than one year ago.
The war in Afghanistan is worse then ever too.
Meanwhile we are still having as many nuclear weapons worldwide as ever before.
Isn't then the question not justified to ask what the hell has Mr. Obama actually accomplished to get this Nobel Peace Price?
The answer to the question is that the Nobel Peace Price committee has not followed the regular procedure by comparing the results of activities of different individuals choosing the one that in their eyes has contributed the most to peace on this earth.
Instead, this time they have made a political decision.
Intending to influence the coming policies of Mr. Obama.
Putting a heavy load on his shoulder.
Loading him up with sky high expectations.
Forcing him to live up to the award he has received.
For example, impossible now for Mr. Obama to declare war on Iran.
In other words, the foreign policy of the USA for the next years is coming from Oslo, Norway.
This is why, if Mr. Obama is a true American and a real independent politician and without any personal vain, he must kindly refuse to accept this time the Nobel Peace Price.
He must show courage, personality and independence by saying: no thank you very much but do consider me again after I finish my presidential term(s).
How can Mr. Obama still be convincing if he accepts a price he has no facts achieved to justify them?
His stature is put at stake by the Oslo Nobel Price committee.
Therefore we say: Barack, be a Rock! Say no, thank you.

Happy birthday, Mr. President!
Every day is a special day.
Also today.
More so because it is the anniversary of Barack Obama.
Happy birthday, Mr. President.
A good opportunity to check the Obameter.
An initiative of the newspaper The St. Petersburg Times.
They have compiled more than 500 promises Barack Obama made during the election campaign.
Now they are tracking their progress.
And for good reason.
Because Barack Obama himself has said during the election campaign:
OK, Mr. President, we will do that.
So, where are we after 196 days of Obama being in office?
Of the 515 promises Obama made, 34 were kept.
On 11 he made a compromise.
7 promises were broken.
12 are stalled.
77 are in the works.
And on 374 promises no action has been taken.
To put it differently:
A US President has 4 years to govern his country.
That is 1.460 days.
The time to make good on what he promised the electorate.
If in 196 days 6.6 % of the promises were kept, mathematics and logic will predict us that at the end of his turn less than 50 % of the 515 promises will have been fulfilled.
Will the electorate in 3.5 years time accept this?
See that as a good record and achievement?
Creating enough confidence to allow Obama a second term of 4 years?
This partly depends of who is going to be the presidential candidate of the Republicans.
If it is to be Sarah Palin, the question will be how convincing she will be with her promises.
That is all in the future.
Right now we better focus on the Obama promises that are being kept.
And what they imply for the US citizens.
The most recent promise kept was the signing of the UN convention on the rights of persons with disabilities on July 31.
This UN convention asserts the rights to education, health, work, adequate living conditions, freedom of movement, freedom from exploitation and equal recognition before the law for persons with disabilities.
By signing, and then ratifying the treaty, the United States commit themselves to enact laws and other measures to improve disability rights, as well as abolish discriminatory legislation, customs and practices.
A good thing, as long as the United States really live up to this treaty.
And what about the promises that are broken?
Two examples:
Obama promised that senior citizens making less than $ 50,000 per year would not have to pay income tax anymore.
Forget it.
They will have to continue to pay an average of $ 1,400 annually in income tax.
Obama promised he was going to recognize the genocide of thousands of Armenians in 1915 by the Turks.
But also for Barack Obama once in power, the relationship with Turkey was more important than telling the truth.
More than all his promises though, probably the major test for Obama will be his efforts to turn around the health care system in the USA.
A struggle that is going on right now and that is in fact a situation where capitalism opposes any form of socialism.
The defending of the right to make money no matter how even if it makes part of the own population suffer and even die.
It is a battle of principle.
And it looks Obama can’t win this one.
The power of the insurance companies and their Republican representatives is just too big with their 250 billion Dollars profit annually.
The best Obama can get out of this is probably an ugly compromise.
And that will shine on him much more than all the election campaign promises fulfilled.
Failing on health care reform will look very bleak compared to all the hoopla during his election campaign.
“Yes, we can”.
Can what?

Sliding down the muddy hill
Tomorrow is the flight from Barcelona, Spain to Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
And therefore the most special friend has been asked to come to the airport to be picked up.
She must come to the airport to be picked up by the arriving passenger?
What is that?
Isn’t it so that an arriving passenger is picked up by the person that comes to the airport?
How come it is being turned around?
It is Barack Obama.
On January 21, 2009 he said in a memorandum honouring the Freedom of Information Act:
"The government should not keep information confidential merely because public officials might be embarrassed by disclosure, because errors and failures might be revealed, or because of speculative or abstract fears."
But yesterday he refused to make public a set of pictures showing U.S. troops abusing prisoners.
Although it was court ordered.
This is nothing to be embarrassed or shocked about.
During his election campaign Barack Obama has made so many promises that already at the time it was clear he would never be able to live up to them.
The St. Petersburg Times has a website where they keep track of the achievements of Barack Obama.
Of the 500 promises he has made, most have not been kept, are stalled or in the working.
Until now only 29 promises have been kept.
6 promises have been broken.
5 are stalled.
63 are in the works.
And on a staggering 404 promises no action is taken.
Now we are facing a president who suggested he could change the world acting in the same way as the Bush administration.
Denying and disrespecting court orders.
Openly keeping information away from the public.
All this will happen more frequently.
Barack Obama is a man sliding down from a muddy hill he made himself.
While the electorate believed it was a beautiful mountain.

Stoking steel
The stimulus package Barack Obama wants to start implementing has a very weird rule.
Much of the money will be spend on the decayed infrastructure in the USA.
Many bridges need to be repaired or even rebuild.
For this a lot of steel is needed.
Steel can be bought from all over the world.
Usually, when steel is needed, it is bought where it is the cheapest.
Steel used in the USA can be coming from China or Europe.
But this time, the stimulus package forbids this.
The steel must be bought in the USA.
This is called protectionism.
What has at least two consequences.
The steel will be more expensive.
And the countries that cannot sell their steel to the USA, usually retaliate by banning importing certain products from the USA.
In the short term, getting the steel only from the USA seems not to be such a bad idea.
It keeps the US-steel industry in business.
However, in the long term it is very damaging to an economy.
The particular industry operates without competition and will become inefficient.
And the counter measures by other countries may damage the national US economy more than the advantage of buying American steel only.
Protectionism and boycotting imports is not an unknown tune to the US Government.
In the USA there is a huge meat industry and they like to export their products.
To Europe as well.
But the Europeans refuse to buy American meat.
The reason is that American meat is coming from animals that are given growth hormones.
That end up in the bodies of the meat eaters and can cause cancer.
In Europe meat with growth hormones is therefore considered dangerous for the health.
So they choose not to buy it.
Instead, they get meat from other countries like Argentina.
This doesn’t please the US-Government.
As a punishment for not buying American meat, the US Government is not allowing imports of certain European goods and products.
The WTO (World Trade Organization) has condemned this US policy but nothing is changing.
We live in a complex world.
Boycotting, banning, limiting, sanctions: they are no good solutions.
A better idea is to import only from countries where the wages paid there to the workers are at least the same as in the importing country.
If a product is made somewhere by workers paid less, it cannot be imported and the product has to be made in the own country.
If a product is made somewhere and the workers are paid more, it becomes beneficial to produce the product in the own country: it will be cheaper.
For a country like China to export, it must first raise the wages of their workers.
A result of this system will be that products become more expensive.
But a result will also be that workers worldwide will be paid a decent salary.
Something that cannot be claimed right now.
The cheap stuff from China in Wall*Mart is available only because too many Chinese work like slaves.
They are earning low salaries, have hardly social welfare and live in miserable conditions.
In the end, everybody can buy what one needs.
If it becomes more expensive because workers get paid more decently, it only will take a little longer before the product can be bought.
We will learn to save money again before we buy something.
And we will learn again only to buy what we really need.

Helping the President
During the recent election campaign for the Presidency of the United States, Barack Obama made over 500 promises.
He was promoting that change had to come to the United States and he was claiming to be the one who could do this.
A majority of the American people did agree with Barack Obama, voted for him and now he is sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.
That is all very fine.
But knowing how politics go, the essential issue now is to see what is coming true of all the promises made.
The United States is a country with a high level of democracy.
And a high level of communication infrastructure.
Those two things combined have resulted in “The Obameter”.
The St. Petersburg Times from Florida has created this remarkable tool.
“The Obameter” is published on a website for anybody to see.
And it is for free!
It is a list of over 500 promises Barack Obama has been making.
The people behind “The Obameter” track the progress on the promises.
And rate them from “Promise Kept” to “Promise Broken”.
After two days of Presidency, Barack Obama has already kept 6 promises.
1/
No. 13: Require taxpayers to report more detail on capital gains taxes
2/
No. 125: Direct military leaders to end war in Iraq
3/
No. 240: Tougher rules against revolving door for lobbyists and former officials
4/
No. 241: Require new hires to sign a form affirming their hiring was not due to political affiliation or contributions.
5/
No. 427: Ban lobbyist gifts to executive employees
6/
No. 503: Appoint at least one Republican to the cabinet
It really makes sense to go to this website and bookmark it.
To repeatedly return there to see if any progress is made.
To be part of democracy.
To be concerned.
And to assist somebody to keep the promises.

Inaugurate Obama today.
Just a question.
We know we can make tunnels.
We drill horizontally and eventually we end up in fresh air and with light again.
We start at one side of the mountain and end up at the other side.
Now, why can’t we do this vertically?
Why can’t we start drilling vertically in some field, to end up in another field?
Go right through the earth until we come out on the other side?

Another question.
Why are runways of airports horizontal?
Wouldn’t it make more sense if for taking off the runway was in an angle going down?

That would allow the plane to have to produce less energy to take off.
Gravity will help it accumulate speed more rapidly to get airborne.
Same for landing.
If the runway from halfway was going up, it would help the plane to stop more easily.

Last question.
Why does it take two months for a new president to be sworn in?
From the day the new president is elected, the sitting president becomes a lame duck.
Not many countries in the world do this ridiculous and unwise thing.
But now we see the USA in a desperate economic situation and immediate action is needed.
But the one to do this is powerless in a waiting room until January 20, 2009.
There is an elegant solution to this problem.
President Bush should step down immediately.
Make the Presidency available to Barack Obama today.
Two more months of limbo will only result in the economies worldwide to detoriate more.
More people will loose their jobs and will be pushed in misery and poverty.
Fervent and loyal blog readers, let’s make this a snowball.
Tell anybody you know about this idea.
To inaugurate Barack Obama today.

Labour camps in Alaska
A message from fervent and loyal blog reader Gary:
Actually, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was opposed to the Communists running the Soviet Union.
So much so that he was arrested for voicing heretical thoughts.
He was interrogated in the prisons of the Soviet secret police and eventually sentenced to hard labour in Siberia.
After he finished his sentence he was condemned to eternal exile in Kazakhstan.
Once Nikita Khrushchev came to power, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, after 12 years of exile, was pardoned and could come back to Moscow.
But even then he continued to have grave conflicts with the Soviet authorities.
Hence, Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was not a Communist at all and that makes his criticism of Capitalism more interesting.
Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn was in favour of what is called “moral socialism”:
There are several aspects of moral socialism in the plans and ideas of Barack Obama.
But he has to fight a society where people are used to the most extreme version of capitalism.
Where it is me, me, me and to hell with the others.
A salesperson selling a mortgage knowing very well the customer will loose the house in a few years, but who gives nevertheless utmost priority to the bonus he will earn, is a capitalist and the opposite of a moral socialist.
In a more ideal society the salesperson will be aware of the tragedy and misery he is about to inflict on the other person if he sells the mortgage and will refrain of it.
However, there are not many salespersons in a capitalist society who consider the well being of the customer much of an issue.
The rule is to make money no matter what.
The rule is to eat or to be eaten.
The rule is to screw or to be screwed.
Obviously, the thing to do is to change the rules.
People are not going to change their attitudes by themselves.
Hence, the Government must present the society with new rules as a transition measure.
Until people have developed properly their morality and stop acting as animals.
Meanwhile, immoral ways of doing business should be very severely punished.

“This Alexander Solsjeneetsin of yesterday.
The one who called capitalism ethically bankrupt.
That guy probably a Commie, right?”
“Present the world with a society in which all relationships, principles and laws would be based on morality and on nothing else.
All calculations like,
-how should children be raised?,
-What should they be trained for?,
-Toward what ends should adult labour be directed?
-How should man spend his leisure?
all this should be decided only on the basis of morality.
Scientific research?
Only research that does not inflict harm on morality, and on the morality of the researchers themselves first of all.
Foreign policy too: so that the question of any frontier would be not how much the action enriches us or strengthens us or raise our prestige, but only: how moral would it be?
Also the economy must be build on morality.
Moral socialism will not motivate people to seek happiness.
For that is an idol of the marketplace.
Moral socialism will direct the people toward loving one another.
The wild animal gnawing at his prey is happy, but only humans can love, and this is the highest thing man can achieve”.
There are several aspects of moral socialism in the plans and ideas of Barack Obama.
But he has to fight a society where people are used to the most extreme version of capitalism.

Bravo USA
Something very strange yesterday.
Returning from having a creamy coffee with Lucretia in her kitchen, it seemed somebody had been inside the Fuso Szulc.
Most strange was that the keyboard of the computer was full of sand as if somebody had been typing with dirty hands.
Meanwhile everything is put to the sides to make room to congratulate extensively and warm-heartedly the American people.
They have been giving a demonstration to the world what democracy is about.
By coming out in numbers, 136,6 million to be precise.
By voting peacefully.
By even being prepared to wait in line for hours to have the vote brought out.
61,4 % of the electorate has been voting and this is the highest since 1908.
Of all these voters 52,3 % went for Obama and 46,4 % for McCain.
Nevertheless, in the House of Representatives and the Senate the Democrats have majorities now.
In many ways the result of the United States elections is stunning.
After 8 years of disastrous Republican politics still 46,4 % of the electorate, 63 million people, wanted a continuation.
Demonstrates how effective the negative campaigning of McCain and the Barbie Doll charms of Palin have been.
Because of the Electoral College system in the USA a person can win the election with 52,3 % of the popular votes but will get 70,3 % of the Electoral College votes.
Hence, it is besides the truth neither to claim a landslide victory nor to say that the electorate has been giving a mandate.
Stunning is also the price tag of Obama’s victory.
This has cost more than 700 million $.
Isn’t that something to think about?
Many fervent and loyal blog readers will have been thinking when learning of the final result of the US elections of the posting on this blog dated October 4th called “The truth found in the pool”.
When it was predicted that Barack Obama would win the elections.
Now a new statement will be made.
It will take almost two months before Barack Obama will be inaugurated as the new President of the USA.
That will be a very dangerous time.
It is very possible he will be assassinated.
Let’s hope and pray this is only fear.

Turmoil making clowns
These days often Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf comes to mind.
He was in 2003 during the invasion by the American troops of Iraq the Minister of Information.
He is better known as Baghdad Bob.
Many people will always remember his limitless optimism.
On April 7, 2003, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf claimed that there were no American troops in Baghdad.
Saying that the Americans were committing suicide by the hundreds at the city's gates.
At that time, American tanks were patrolling the streets only a few hundred yards from the location where the press conference was held. Baghad Bob's last public appearance as Information Minister was on April 8, 2003, when he said that the Americans "are going to surrender or be burned in their tanks. They will surrender, it is they who will surrender".
These days Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf is remembered triggered by John McCain.
He is making similar statements as Baghdad Bob.
So ridiculous, ludicrous and out of proportion that it becomes amusing.
Being far behind in the polls and claiming:
"We've got them exactly where we want them".
A clown in turmoil.
Meanwhile Barack Obama uses humour to counter all the McCain’s accusations coming his way.
The style he is using is very effective.
"He'll soon be calling me a secret Communist for sharing my toys in Kindergarten”.
It’s to use humour to make the opponent ridiculous and that is now an easy job.
Although questioned by American authorities, Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf was released, and there has been no suggestion of charging or detaining him for his role in the Saddam Hussein government.
He is now living in the United Arab Emirates with his family.
John McCain will retreat to his ranch in Arizona after he has lost the elections next week.
Demoralized, discouraged and dumped by his own Republican Party.
Not so Sarah Palin.
She’ll be around.

Enough of politics and dogs.
The decision has been made not to follow the election campaigns of John McCain and Sarah Palin anymore.
Nor the campaign of Barack Obama.
The reason is that it has been enough.
To avoid to get sick and tired of it.
To be drawn too deep into their negativity, nastiness, hate and dishonesty.
Quietly the day after the elections will be awaited now.
And until then the Fuso Szulc remains clean of American electoral politics.
This morning was an incredible sunrise.

Witnessed while taking care of Rocky and Gante.
The two new dogs of Alfredo.
To the annoyance of the whole Gonzales family Alfredo has fallen back in his old habits.
He got himself two new dogs.

Young and energetic ones.

But then he leaves his rancho to spend time with his girl friend in her house.
He ties up one dog to the same tree as Gorba was.
Leaving them without enough water and food.
The result is a constant barking and crying of the tied up dog.
Day and night.
Destroying the peace and serenity of the location.
The only solution is to keep the dogs near the Fuso Szulc.
To feed them.
To take care they always have fresh water.
And to walk them daily.
Also Gumaro and Lucretia Gonzales are pissed off with Alfredo and the way he keeps dogs.
They can’t sleep at night as well.
And especially Lucretia is angry and upset because also these two dogs got into the habit chasing chicken.
To kill them.
Once Alfredo comes back, the dogs return to him.
It is no more fun to have somebody else’s dogs to take care of.
It is history that is repeated as fervent and loyal blog readers understand when they remember Gorba.
Hopefully Alfredo leaves his love nest soon.
To have no more dogs.
And no more politicians.

Sincere humanity
Although in a dry riverbed in Mexico, the American elections are closely followed listening to the BBC and Fox radio and seeing CNN television.
It is a pretty amazing event that might be of historic relevance.
Less than two weeks before the elections still 7 % of the American electorate is undecided.
It is difficult to understand how come that a person by now still doesn’t know who to vote.
What have they not been hearing?
Encouraging is that early voting has started and that thousands and thousands of people jumped on the occasion.
This is democracy in full swing.
People deeply involved in the political process and highly concerned about their country and how it will be governed.
But amazing to learn that people had to wait over three hours in line to vote.
Because not enough polling stations were open and because of failing voting machines.
These things happen sometimes in developing countries but obviously also in the most sophisticated society in the world.
And this is happening besides the voter registration fraud.
Conveniently called by Sarah Palin, voter fraud.
(Palin who is by now hated.)
This voter registration fraud is the result of the capitalist system.
The people having to do the voter registration were paid 8 Dollars an hour.
For this they were supposed to go out and look for people who wanted to register.
Several employees of Acorn simply stayed home and copied the phone book.
In no way this will influence the elections.
It is just another example of greed.
But it is used by the McCain-Palin garbage machine to slander the Democrats and most particularly Barack Obama.
Meanwhile the rest of the world has made up its mind who should be the next President of the USA.
A Gallup poll of 70 countries conducted from May through September has found widespread international support for Democratic candidate Barack Obama.
Around the world, respondents favoured Obama 4 to 1 over John McCain.
While in the USA, according to the Rasmussen Report, Obama is ahead by just four points, leading McCain 50 per cent to 46 per cent.
Gallup had Mr. Obama ahead 52 per cent to 41 per cent.
The news was also that the Grandmother of Barack Obama is seriously ill.
That he is flying to Hawaï to spend two days with her.
This lady has been raising the Presidential candidate and he has stated that she had been giving up everything to secure him a better future.
To interrupt the Presidential’ campaign is therefore a sign of high-class respect.
And a demonstration of sincere humanity.
We may wonder how many of the 7 % undecided American voters will get impressed by the significance of the Grandmother’s visit.

Ending on a plate as a steak
Many members of the Gonzales family have arrived to spend the weekend together and have a good time.
This includes catching some cows and tying them up in a corral.
To kill and butcher them one by one later.
Hence the peaceful dry riverbed is resonating with the whining sounds of the cows bitterly complaining their confinement.
And expressing what they probably know what is going to happen to them: ending on a plate as a steak.
The day and night whining of the cows is so painful and disturbing that even the dogs ran away and found refuge under the Fuso Szulc where they have been spending the night.

An alert inhabitant of the dry riverbed in Baja California, Mexico unavoidably has to think of the elections in the USA when hearing the cows complaining about their lost freedom and approaching death.
The cows sound like John McCain and Sarah Palin.
Knowing they have lost the elections, they have changed their strategy.
Most of their time speaking in public is spent to make people afraid of Barack Obama.
Additionally, with automatic phone calls and advertisements Obama is accused in the worst ways possible.
Painting Barack Obama as a possible terrorist, Muslim, black, a liar, a cheater and a lunatic.
John McCain and Sarah Palin have no more convincing political arguments to assure a majority of the American people of them being the right choice.
So, the strategy is to make the electorate so afraid of what looks like the winning opponent that the people are strongly suggested to change their mind who to vote.
To make them vote for the scaremongers to stop the candidate the people were made afraid of.
It is a deplorable strategy.
Any man and any woman with pride, honour, courage and determination in life would never devaluate to such a low level of operating.
The good news is that Barack Obama is continuing to get more and more people behind him.
Indicating that too many American people are fortunately too smart to fall for McCain’s vicious strategy.

The truth found in the pool
Many people had high expectations to see last night the debate between the Governor of Alaska and part-time mother Sarah Palin and Senator Joe Biden whose children are beyond diaper service.
Also in the Fuso Szulc the intention was to participate in the debate by listening attentively.
It was late in the afternoon and the sun had come to rest between the palm trees and eventually beyond the horizon where is the Pacific Ocean.
But soon after hearing the beginning of the debate a question came up in the mind.
“Is this debate really something to listen to?”
Because it made feel sad.
Mrs. Palin specialised only in political platitudes drilled into her mind by media instructors.
Mr. Biden too experienced, too motivated, too many things on his side to let the debate slip out of his control.
It was like witnessing a massacre.
Seeing Poland overrun by the Soviets and the Nazis in 1939.
Painful.
Tragic.
The decision was made to stop listening to the debate.
To escape the emotions it was pushing to the front.
The better alternative was to go to the “Pool of death”.
Where the water is warm.
Where nobody else is disturbing the entrance to the next life.
In the twilight where, when floating in the embryonic water, the palm trees around the pool are simply silhouettes to represent a reality more and more far away.
It is the stars.
In the now dark sky that glitter and shine.
Those are the marks to know where is existence.
This is one of the most exceptional experiences ever had in life.
To float on the back in a large swimming pool with very warm water in the dark seeing the stars.
What makes it really exceptional is that while floating and moving slowly it is not the stars that are changing of position.
The palm trees, silhouettes they are, move and change position from where they are.
They move and are segregated from the observer.
The stars though remain in place and seem to be in sync with the exurbanite swimmer.
This is probably one of the rare possible experiences in life to be detached.
To be truly free and liberated.
In a natural way without mind expanding chemical drugs.
To be naturally not earth rooted anymore.
To accept to connect to the universe.
To become one with the stars.
To share temporarily infinity.
OK, OK, once out of the pool and after the shower with cold water infinity was surely temporary.
Returned to the Fuso Szulc the Palin-Biden debate had finished and it was the spinning to follow.
That didn’t matter.
Because just after leaving the “Pool of Death” it was understood that Senator McCain had lost the elections and Barack Obama will be the next President of the United States.
It needs a dip in a Mexican pool and consequently connecting to the stars to know this truth.

The Church in the White House.
There are countries where there is a separation between Church and State.
The Church and its moral hullabaloo is allowed to apply it within their buildings only.
However, there are countries where the Church and its leaders are the dominating force and decide how the population should live.
These countries that are politically and socially dominated by religion are often applying the Sharia.
Sharia is the body of Islamic religious law.
It is a legal framework within which the public and private aspects of life are regulated for those living in a legal system.
Sharia decides many aspects of day-to-day life, including politics, economics, banking, business, family, sexuality and social issues.
Countries in Europe and a country like the United States have always been opposed to religion as a power to control a society.
Already in 1802 Thomas Jefferson wrote a letter to the Danbury Baptists explaining that the First Amendment of the United States Constitution creates a wall of separation between Church and State.
We could say therefore that the United States is a secular country.
On one side of the wall is the Church and on the other side of the wall is the State.
But is that really so?
Not last night.
A political forum was organised between the two contenders to become the new President of the United States.
Was this forum taking place in a University?
In a theatre?
In a TV studio?
No, it took place in a Church.
And was the forum leader and the person asking the questions a neutral journalist?
Or maybe a wise and older objective person?
The forum leader also asking the questions was the leader of that Church Mr. Eric Warren.
Did the audience consist of persons interested in politics?
A selection of Democrats and Republicans?
The people inside the church were the supporters of Eric Warren and his beliefs.
Was this therefore a separation between Church and State?
Not at all.
It was a situation where the Church had the political contenders appear in front of a very judgmental and doctrinal religious person to check in how far they matched his Christian Sharia.
It was all very disgusting and sick making.
Obviously Eric Warren, the self-indulged leader of the Saddleback Church, had his preference: John McCain.
As a forum leader he was totally subjective: creating a platform for propaganda for John McCain and a scaffold for Barack Obama.
It is difficult to understand why the campaign management of Barack Obama agreed to this forum in the Saddleback Church and the forum leader Eric Warren.
Maybe it was to get supporters among the religious Americans.
But it is a fundamental principle, and therefore the First Amendment, not to mix Church and State.
Political forums should never be inside a Church with a Reverend leading the discussion.
It is like the Mullah from the Mosque telling the politicians coming to pray how to run the country.
If we imagine a United States having as a President John McCain behind who will stand Eric Warren to control and direct him, Thomas Jefferson’s wall between Church and State will have crumbled and the Constitution needs to be rewritten in a way as it was in Afghanistan in the days the Taliban were ruling there.

Will Barack Obama be assassinated?
Most people worldwide know that the House Democratic Leader in the USA is Nancy Pelosi.
But do we know that she has five children?
And that her daughter Alexandra is married to a journalist from the Netherlands?
His name is Michiel Vos.
Recently he was being interviewed on Dutch TV and he talked about life behind the American political scenes.
Because of his mother in law he gets into situations that are private.
So private that we, the ordinary people, will never know it happened.
Like a private White House garden party of Republican and Democratic politicians and their spouses and children thrown by George W. Bush himself.
Of course Mr. Vos didn’t talk much about all this.
If his mother in law finds out he openly talks about life behind the political scenes, he will not be invited anymore.
But Michiel Vos said something really interesting about Barack Obama who he has met a few times.
Mr. Vos explained that security around Barack Obama is on the same level as if he was already the President.
Obama is surrounded everywhere anytime by an army of secret service men.
It is quite obvious why this is.
Obama stands for change.
And the people who are going to loose power, influence, money and a position because of the possible changes have an interest that Obama will not win these elections.
As it looks now, that hope is idle.
Obama is 8 % ahead of McCain.
There is another way of stopping Obama to become President of the United States.
This by assassinating him.
The army of secret service men surrounding him proves this idea is already expected to be among enough would-be killers.
In this field the United States has a painful reputation.
Four Presidents of the U.S.A. have been assassinated.
Abe Lincoln in 1865.
James Garfield in 1881.
William Mckinley in 1901.
And John Kennedy in 1963.
Many politicians as well.
Among them:
Tom Burks, State Senator from Tennessee in 1998,
James Davis, New York City Councilman in 2003,
Robert Kennedy, Senator from New York in 1968,
George Moscone, Mayor of San Francisco in 1978,
Influential social leaders also, like:
Malcolm X in 1965,
Martin Luther King in 1968.
And then we have the attempts to assassinate US Presidents:
Ronald Reagan in 1981,
Gerald Ford in 1975,
Theodore Roosevelt in 1912.
It would not be a surprise therefore if Barack Obama was killed.
Deeply embedded in many Americans is the attitude that if it is not going the way as desired, violence must force it.
Many Americans have an interest now to see Barack Obama not become the next President.
If he does become the next President though and he is able to function for four years, that will be the real victory.

Beautiful words but?
The people in the United States can sleep peacefully again.
Barack Obama has returned home.
Back from his visits to Afghanistan, Iraq, the Middle East and Europe.
Now we know his ambition is to become President of the World.
It has been a long time that a politician has been so popular.
Not only in his home country but abroad as well.
A young US Senator inspiring over 200.000 people to come and listen to him in Germany…

However, if one has studied and learned from history, as soon as a politician gets as popular as Barack Obama, one must get suspicious.
Imagine the monumental expectations he has triggered and is now carrying on his back.
Can he deliver in case he is elected?
Are all those beautiful and sweet words now spoken so eloquently, transformed later in concrete decisions?
And will those decisions make the changes that are needed and promised?
There is a convincing theory that this is in the USA not possible.
The necessary changes can never be achieved.
Promised, yes.
But not enforced.
The reason is that there are pressure groups with enormous influence on the politicians.
The lobby groups.
For example, a politician has no chance whatsoever to be elected if he declares that the Palestinians must stop their attacks on Israel immediately.
And that Israel must stop immediately the illegal building of more settlements on occupied land.
A politician will be banned and boycotted by the Arab and Jewish lobbies right away.
Loosing not only their considerable votes but their financial support as well.
Another example are the gun laws.
Basically anybody in the USA can buy a gun.
There are restrictions but the principle is that an American can buy and have a gun.
This has gotten completely out of hand.
The most sophisticated and deadly hand guns can be bought that will not serve any purpose except for being extremely dangerous in case they are used.
Machine guns, bazookas, and military guns: any gun is available.
This is completely idiotic.
If the principle of a country is that any person must have the option to defend him or herself with a gun, why can somebody buy an M-60 machine gun?

It would be an excellent idea of a US politician to limit the availability of weapons.
For example, only small handguns and only for qualified customers.
All the rest of the war machines banned.
But in the USA is a strong gun lobby.
There have been politicians, like John Kerry, who wished to be elected and went on a hunting trip shooting innocent animals only to demonstrate they were not opposed to guns.
To try to lure the gun lobby on their side.

The same is going on these days concerning the energy crises.
All the politicians are shouting that the USA should become less dependent of foreign oil.
That the oil should come from nature reserves in Alaska.
Or that wind and solar energy should be developed quickly.
But not one politician is talking about changing the way of living.
Saying that an average American is using enormous amounts of energy compared to people in the rest of the world.
Simply by the way the American decides to live.
Even Barack Obama does not have the courage to say that the way most Americans are living and consuming energy now is not only morally intolerable but also impossible to sustain.
The message should be that drastic changes should come into the lives of the Americans.
To simplify their lives and let go of many of their devastating and destructive habits.
How can a politician come to power opposing all those lobbies?
Presenting a real alternative that would result in the people having to simplify their lives?
No way.
It’s impossible.
Barack Obama is charismatic and refreshing.
But after all those disastrous Bush years people are dying to embrace a new leader they can believe in.
However, all the current expectations building up by the day guarantee deep disappointment later.
Therefore, the sweet and well-spoken words of Barack Obama are alluring.
But not more than that.

150 billion peanuts
Breakfast could not be entertained with National Public Radio.
There was a program about Country and Western music and this kind of music is highly disliked.
Hence, a switch was made to CNN who have the sound of their TV news broadcasts on XM Satellite Radio.
Landed in the studios of CNN Barack Obama was heard saying that he will spend 150 billion US Dollars on green energy.
To create thousands of jobs and to make the USA less depended on foreign oil.
That is great !
To spend so much money on finding alternative sources of energy so we can quickly get out of this mess of high gas prices and suffocating and devastating pollution.
Barack Obama understands that it is simply a matter of money.
Give scientists a good salary, an excellent laboratory and enough woman and manpower and not for long we have bacteria’s eat plastic producing fuel.
But there is a natural distrust of politicians.
Promising to spend 150 billion Dollars and soon the problems will be over sounds too good to be true.
Like the vacuum cleaner salesman emptying a bag of dirt on your living room floor promising his machine will clean it spotlessly.
For the fervent and loyal blog readers some research has been made and the shocking outcome is that this 150 billion Dollars are peanuts.
What Barack Obama is not saying in his speeches is that his 150 billion Dollars will be spend over a period of 10 years.
That is 1,25 billion Dollars per month.
Now, we could argue that 1,25 billion Dollars monthly is still buying more than a Domino pizza.
But let’s revive in our minds how much for example the war in Iraq is costing:
9 billion Dollars a month.
And how much the USA is spending on its army and defence per month:
49 billion Dollars per month.
So, what is a meagre 1,25 billion Dollars per month compared to 49 billion Dollars?
Is that a good balance between current urgencies?
Will there be a shift in that balance once Mr. Obama becomes possibly President of the USA?
Hell no!
What did Obama told the Chicago Council on Global Affairs last April?
That’s precisely the number favoured by President Bush’s Defence Secretary Robert Gates over a five-year period at a cost of $108 billion, as estimated by the Congressional Budget Office.
Is that the way to go to enforce the army and to moderately handle the energy crises?
To spend more on defence and just a little on more essential problems affecting people badly in their daily lives?

Delusive illusions
It is on the Democratic side of the current elections going on in the USA that a fascinating event is taking place.
On the Republican side it is old wine in old sacks and no change in policies will come if a veteran like John McCain is elected.
But on the Democratic side a Teutonic battle is taken place and it is fascinating to see them challenge each other.
As a neutral European observer every opportunity is looked for to see Clinton and Obama give speeches.
Because something special is experienced when they speak.
They are both charismatic and promoting what seems to be a hopeful new future.
Especially Mr. Obama is a gifted speaker who seems to believe sincerely he can change a bankrupt, demoralized and hated country.
Last night he was awarded a Grammy Award for “The best spoken word”.

And rightly so.
The man speaks in an almost hypnotizing way.
He is very entertaining.
Hence, the prestigious award from the entertainment industry not for what he had to say, but for how he said it.
In politics worldwide and therefore in American politics also, we must always be suspicious.
We must never forget that the politician, who speaks to an audience, repeats a text that was written by special speechwriters.
It is usually never a text by the politician.
Although the politician pretends it is his own text and coming straight from the heart, it was all pre-cooked.
We also must never forget that the politician is not speaking the text from the memory.
He is reading the text but pretending to speak it from the memory and spontaneously.
For this trick they use a device called a “teleprompter”.
Or “autocue”.
There is a screen in front of the lens of the camera, and the words on the screen are reflected to the eyes of the speaker using a one-way mirror.

Or glass panes on which the text is projected are placed to the left and right of the cameras so that it seems the politician is looking at the audience but in fact reading the text.
Many people know politicians are not personally responsible for the quality of their text.
And many people know that the politicians are reading their texts but pretending to speak from memory.
But that illusion seems not to matter.
A risky thing.
Because the best speaker is the best illusionist, once elected it will become clear how delusive the illusion was.
There are already signs that the illusion of giving thrilling speeches have ingredients smelling of delusion.
Next time a loyal and fervent blog reader sees John McCain giving a speech, notice he says he wants to keep the troops in Iraq.
Possibly for a 100 years.
Nobody doubts how this can be done.
By just leaving them where they are now.
Over 60.000 American soldiers are in Europe for over 64 years.
Hence, this concept of having the American army in Iraq for a long time is not a delusive concept.
It is realistic and can be done.
But now the fervent and loyal blog reader should watch Hillary Clinton give a speech.
To great enthusiasm of the audience she claims she will bring the American troops home from Iraq in 60 days.
But notice, never it is explained how that incredible feat is going to be accomplished.
How can more than 160.000 soldiers and their equipment be returned to the USA within 60 days?
And how is President Hillary Clinton going to deal with the political, military and economic vacuum she is going to leave behind in Iraq?
Never is there an explanation how her intention is going to be materialized.
And that is logic.
It is a promise that cannot be fulfilled.
The majority of American people are sick and tired of the war in Iraq and obviously start to cheer when a politician in a frenzy situation stirs up emotions by claiming to bring the heroes back in 60 days.
It is a complete delusion.
It might win voters but they will be deeply disappointed later.
The advantage of being a neutral European observer is that no choice has to be made between the three most important candidates.
Because it is a huge dilemma.
More of the same, McCain, is no option.
And of the Democrats one cannot know how many cats are in the bags.
But this is not at the centre of the issue though.
Many people will not vote because of the details of promised policy.
Many voters will award their own Grammy Award.
The new President will be the one who had the best presentation.

The best soap opera
There are many major and dramatic world events taking place these days.
There is the ongoing war in Iraq.
There is the war in Afghanistan that is getting more and more serious.
In Africa ethnic wars are now taking place in Kenya.
And the most serious war of our times is happening in eastern Congo where already over 4 million people have died.
But most of the attention is going to the elections now taking place in the USA.
An amazing demonstration of an electoral circus having no equivalent anywhere.
There is a lot to write about the current elections in the USA.
Today we focus on two peculiar aspects of the race.
First aspect is the US senator for Illinois and presidential hopeful Barack Obama.
47 years old with a father from Kenya, Africa and an American mother.

For an observer from outside the USA it is puzzling that Barack Obama is considered in his country as a black American.
Why is he a black American?
Why is he not a white American?
Why is he not simply “an American”?
Because the father is from Africa and the mother from the USA, the man is 50 % African and 50 % American.
That logically doesn’t make him black.
Nor white.
It is similar for yours truly.
The father is from Poland and the mother is from the Netherlands.
Is this man Polish?
Or is this man Dutch?
Or is he European?
To say that Barack Obama is black is as much true as to say he is white.
To say that the photographer is Polish is as much true as to say he is Dutch.
Why is a person considered black if he is 50 % white?
It would have been wiser of Barack Obama if he had put himself above the decision to profile himself as a black candidate.
If he is elected as President of the USA, the racial issue will always be at stake.
While it should not matter at all.
The second aspect of the elections in the USA is Hillary Clinton.

In political history it has not happened often that two persons are running together to try to be elected as president of a country.
Because this is what is happening.
It is a team trying to win.
It is amazing to observe how Mrs. Clinton allows not to run by herself.
How she accepts the tremendous help of her husband.
As if she could not do it by herself.
It is also amazing how Mr. Clinton is unable to stay in the background and simply have his wife do the job.
But most amazing is that this is allowed and possible.
And that it is not an issue with public opinion.
If Hillary Clinton is elected as President of the USA, she will not be the only one in charge.
Obviously her husband will pull strings as well.
That would be a very cloudy situation.
The elections in the USA have a high level of entertainment.
It is not about political ideology of political parties as in the rest of the world.
It is about individual persons who, financed by interest groups to be paid back later through political decisions, try in a Hollywood way to charm the electorate.
It is the best soap opera to be seen.
