#NINTENDOnews some games from this last Nintendo Direct

A ton of stuff was showed during the last Nintendo Direct! Well, some stuff caught my eyes, including...

Another recent DK game, Donkey Kong Country Returns, is being ported to the Switch. Kinda weird to have this one released after the sequel, but there it is.

Metroid fans have been eating good lately. Re-releases. A new 2D title. And it's time for the new 3D title, it's about darn' time! Prime 4 is here!

While I'm more hyped to see Luigi Mansion 2 re-released outside a handheld system, Mario & Luigi fans rejoiced, the series is back as well! After Mario RPG and Mario vs. Donkey Kong, it's time for Mario & Luigi: Brothership to make a comeback! I admit, I never tried this series...

And finally, my favorite surprise in the bunch... a brand new Zelda game!

Not only that, a "brand new" game, not another port or remake.

Not only that, but using the same artstyle as Link's Awakening! Which is a great idea, it would be dump to not use that style direction for one more game!

And not only that but a game where you play as Zelda! It's truly a Legend of Link instead this time around! She got her own smart gameplay, since Link uses the triforce or courage with his weapons, she uses the triforce of wisedom..and therefore powers based on magic!

AND the gameplay seems to be a mix of the openworld sandbox of the last couple of main Zelda games mixed with the upgrade-gating progression of the classic games. It all sounds pretty interesting.

AND AND AND.. it's already coming this september!!

I'm all in! Can't wait!!

#Blog The Game & Watch - Zelda edition

I finally received my little Legend of Zelda Game & Watch!

It's not a great plug and play system. But it's certainly better than the Mario one. Zelda 1, 2 and Link's Awakening! Great bundle!

Plus I still adore the clever cutey packaging.

Cute stuff. Wait for it to go cheaper, tho.

#E32021news End of the show, Nintendo saves E3 again

Allow me this little exageration on the title, but that's what it feels like reading off other people's comments or news articles.

Anyways, Covid or not, this has been another slightly lackluster E3 show. I get how the current situation probablyl slowed down most game devs...

But here we are! The last presentations have been streamed! Most publishers announced stuff! Nintendo actually showed games coming this year 2021 instead of 2022 (aside from a Breath of the Wild 2 teaser).

Let's check this out in no particular order:

First up, bye bye the only exclusive game on Xbox SX (is that how you spell it?) I kinda wanted. The Medium will come to PS5 now, as I guessed. I really enjoyed Bloober Team's Layers of Fear or the recent Blair Witch game. I didn't want to miss this horror title featuring the return of Silent Hill composer Akira Yamaoka on the music.

We will apparently get a brand new Super Monkey Ball! I mean, not a new game. Like the last one which was a remaster, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania is a remix of the original "trilogy", meaning SMB1, 2 and Deluxe (which was actually a remaster of 1 and 2 on the Xbox..?). A neat little package of over 300 of levels with a ton of bonus and modes right on time for the 20th anniversary of the Super Monkey Ball series!

On the Nintendo side, plenty of stuff. Starting with a brand new WarioWare, WarioWare: Get It Together! I like this news, but part of me wishes we could get a new Wario platformer instead...

After teasing a new Metroid Prime, Nintendo instead went back to the original sidescroller series and announced the long rumored and canceled Metroid 5 (which started on GBA before moving to the DS and then.. nothing),Metroid Dread. This looks great. I know lots of people will enjoy this one, including my bro who is a big fan of the series.

And finally while everyone wanted old games (people kept making up rumors and leaks about a Zelda Anniversary collection with the Wii U/3DS versions of Ocarina of Time, Majora's Mask, Wind Waker and Twilight Princess), Nintendo instead decided to show us some more of Breath of the Wild 2. Which seems to take a lot after Skyward Sword - which kinda explains the re-release actually. Exploring floating island over the world map, freejumping and more of the good stuff from the original BotW, which easily remains one of my fav entries with Zelda 1.

So a bit more good stuff over here.

I wanted new actual games from this whole E3 show. Not just remakes and re-releases. I'm sick and tired of the gritty action photorealistic-stuff. Give me more imaginative and colorful stuff. No wonder I spend more time replaying 8/16-bit stuff lately over current games. And even more homebrew and indie stuff. (Did you know the Sega Megadrive/Genesis has, like, 50 upcoming new titles this year alone??)

All in all.. I'm only here for Zelda and the Guardians of the Galaxy game, I guess.

See you next year!

#E3news The big E3 2019 Recap post

Hey everyone.

This week marked the big E3 2019 even, in LA. You know what? I've been mostly offline this past week. So I finally decided to catch it all in one sitting. And boy, there's been quite a few great new announcements, tidbits, trailers and some occasional goofy and cringe moments in what was yet another packed E3 experience.

Since this is my page, let's only recap the things I'm interested in or I've something to say about.

#GamingNEWS Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the Necrodancer ft. The Legend of Zelda - Nintendo Switch

So Nintendo is officially greenlighting an indie game crossover with the Zelda series! How... great?  How very non-Nintendo of them!

I already adore the music!

#NintendoDirect News An unexpected Zelda remake and a Mario spinoff sequel

I'm sure some people were expecting more news from Metroid. Or even a surprise Zelda semi-sequel using the Breath of the Wild engine... but not... this? And this is still good, mind you. Only... what? I didn't expect that for sure!

First up a surprise brand new remake of one of my all-time favorite obscure Zelda games, The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening!

Here is the Announcement Trailer, which is an anime-revamp of the original GB game's cutscene:

Wow! The intro looked really, really good. The visuals are... a bit weird to put it simply. But after rewatching it I'm kinda digging the style finally. The overworld seems nice, but Link will take some used to. The music is already PHENOMENAL though! Bring it! After a huge sandbox modern Zelda, a retro-style one is exactly what the Switch needed!

The second surprise was the randomly-announced as well Super Mario Maker 2! The first one was a great surprise, I guess this is part for the course:

Like before, people will mess around the engine to have fun. And some talented folks will actually end up making fantastic stuff with it.

#GamingNEWS! The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Trailer

Alright, I admit, this looks pretty nice. I'm finally starting to think I should get back to Zelda after so many years since I last played one...

#E3News The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Nintendo basically spent 2 entire hours on only 2 games. But at least one of those two games was the highly awaited new Zelda (the other one was Pokemon Sun/Moon)!

Here are some proper footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild:

I like the title. I really enjoy these charming colorful graphics (and so bored of hyper-realistic visuals of most games these days...). And gameplay looks like some actual improvement over the past Zelda formula, I like seeing lots of new ideas here.

Looks like I might finally have to try a modern Zelda! (I haven't played any since Ocarina of Time & Wind Waker...)

This game is expected next year for Wii U and the long-rumored new system "NX".

#E3News Day One

Another year, another E3!

Personally I'm not expecting a lot to come off this year's E3. In fact a lot of great titles showed last year haven't exactly come out just yet (looking at The Last Guardian and Mass Effect Andromeda for example). Anyways, let's see what has come out of the show so far...

#Nintendo NEWS! Hyrule Warriors new addition - Female Link, Linkle REVEALED!

Nintendo just announced a new addition to the already huge roster of Hyrule Warriors - Linkle, a female incarnation of Link!

Apparently she will be added to the roster of the 3DS re-release of the game and a DLC for the Wii U version.

Awesome! People have been wanting for a different incarnation of Link for ages. Me? Personally I was tired of the generic Ocarina of Time-ysh Link we've been getting every new game for so long. (Hey! I miss brown/pink-haired Link from the older games.. even the animated series Link would be a much better pick).

And to the haters out there - You know we get a new different Link each game? So Cartoon Link wasn't a problem for you, but female Link is? How hypocrite of you guys...

Anyways, crybabies aside, here's the trailer:

Awesome! Looks like she kicks ass with her crossbows!

#FanFilmFriday - First Person Super Smash Bros.

Did you ever wonder what Smash Bros. would look like in first person? Well the crew at SoKrispyMedia asked that very same question and put it into film. Check this out!

Well done, guys!

This was pretty funny!

#MusicBOX - SONGS YOU DIDN'T KNOW HAD LYRICS: LEGEND OF ZELDA

Here's a random music video from Fox's Animation Domination High-Def adding lyrics to the main theme from The Legend of Zelda:

Random and funny. Well, personally it's probably not my favorite take on lyrics for Zelda, I would give that to brentalfloss:

Not his best - specially compared to his later productions - but a lot funnier.

And if you're a fan of Egoraptor, did you know he also added lyrics to Zelda?

This lil' 8-bit song sure came a long way. 'Just goes to show how much more imagination was put into these old repetitive 8-bit songs. You could hum them and imagine all kinds of dumb lyrics, the music was fun and catchy and perfectly well structured, even if it came out old school vintage video game consoles.

#E3 NEWS! Day 3 - Eidos, Nintendo, PC and stuff

And here is our last E3-related posted, probably. I don't expect to see any more surprises since now the conferences are all over and it's mostly gameplay from the showfloor coming up.

Nintendo conference was quite crazy, but the rest of the reveals was kinda lackluster if you ask me. There's also some stuff coming from a PC conference, which was really bad. But, hey, new Deus Ex footage!

#E3 NEWS! Hyrule Warriors 3DS Trailer

Hyrule Warriors on the 3DS sounds... pretty fun. Well, okay, it's basically the same game. But they added Tetra and the King (aka Wind Waker's boat!)! YES! Check the trailer till the end:

Hope the King gets some alternate costumes which allows us to play with some earlier Kings. MAH BOI, if you know what I mean.

And I also hope this gets added to the main Wii U version, since that's the one I will probably end up (finally) getting.

#BestOf The Powerpuff Girls - you got some ZELDA in my PPG!!

The crossover nobody ever expected!

Who knew the Mayor had a N64 (that apparently plays without cartridges - it's probably an emulator)!

#Ad - Legend of Zelda A Link to the Past SNES Japanese Commercial

The best videogame commercial ever made!

Dance off!

I wouldn't mind a Space Channel 5/Zelda crossover, apparently.
