#Blog The Newest Mini Console

So I now this one was released a bit earlier this year, but money has been difficulty tight this year. Anyways I had set it aside to get it later this year/summer, and chance of mine I saw they cut down the prices of the console so I finally grabbed now The A500 mini.

I already posted about the other mini consoles lately, like the previous and similar Commodore 64 mini.

Another Amiga Commodore mini system inspired by a classic home computer console from way back when.
This one only has 25 titles, but a lot of great stuff thankfully.

The new mini console looks just as slick and lovely miniaturised if a bit more toy-ish and plastic than usual. The packaging is also lovely.

And here is the A500 Mini next to a Switch for scale...

The UI is pretty decent and comes with all the whistle and bells (save stats, etc.).

The system has a lot of classics from the 16-bit era (a lot I actually already had on the Sega Mega Drive).

Chaos Engine (Soldiers of Fortune), Worms, Zool, Flashback... a great selection. Pinball, vs fighter, racing, puzzle... Lots of genre titles covered here.

A nice innovation is that the system has a SD card slot so you can upload your own Roms without breaking or modding it for once.

All in all, not the best mini console (too plastic-y, very little game selection, if a great selection). But some iconic titles and the SD card slot is a nice addition. I'd say this is more for hardcore gamers and collectors than the usual mini systems.

#Blog The Other Mini Consoles

So I made a little post about the Mega Drive Mini (and the other Nintendo and Sony minis).

I decided to get my hands on the remaining missing Minis. We'll talk about the Neo Geo mini arcade cabinets another day. Today let's have a look at the...

The 64 Mini

This Commodore 64 mini was released with 64 retro titles. Both a "Mini" and a regular-sized clone of the Commodore 64 with actual working keyboard (along the digital keyboard on the emulator).

It looks slick and modern actually. I dig the quality of the Mini here.

And here's the C64 Mini next to my Master System for scale comparison:

PC-Engine Mini

I like how they called the European release the "PC Engine Core Grafx Mini", to combine both the Japanese and the American name of the original system.

The system itself has a great list of pre-loaded titles, which you can select easily by switching between the American and the Japanese list of selected games.

Here's the Mini right next to my actual PC Engine Duo, for size comparison. It's so tiny!!!!

A great list of games, probably my favorite selection of all these Mini consoles. Why can't they cover entire "classic must have series", though? Bonk 1 and 2? Where's Bonk 3?? The Mega Drive Mini couldn't have all main Sonic titles either..

VGR Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Nes)

Finally! I finally was able to reach the end of the original NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! It's 2am here as I decide to write this review nonetheless.

Did you know Turtles can drown in water? Like instantaneously? That's a thing I learned from this game...

VGR Shinobi

I am proud to present you a review of the original Shinobi here on my blog!

Aka Sega's least marketable mascot for children! (he might have been more of a badass than Alex Kidd, but he didn't had Sonic's all-ages appeal..)

VGR Alien 3 (game)

Time to go back to the Alien franchise with a cult lil' action game from the early 90s!

Here's one very rare example in which the game is better than the film...

One skyscraper. 40 terrorists. A handful of hostages.
And a barefoot cop with very little time. You're John McClane in this NES adaptation of the cult classic movie!
