2023 In Review

Before the end of each year, I try to review the projects that I have completed over the past 12 months and create a post highlighting my favourite for each month.  This year some months haven't had much to choose from given the issues with my eyesight for much of 2023.    I have worked on this progressively over a few days as I really wanted to put this post out.

I have shared the love around a bit with a challenge appearing in one month only.  Naturally, since November is mainly creating for Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards, I had to choose a Beccy's Place card for that month.

I have linked each card to the original post (when I could find them)

January - card created for QKR Challenge (now closed)

February - DT card created for Lil Patch of Crafty Friends

March - card created for Butterfly Challenge

April - card created for Sheepski Challenge

May - DT card created for Jan's Digis Challenge (now closed)

June - card created for Card Chain Challenge

July  - card created for NZ Swap Group

August - DT card created for Scribbles Designs (on break)

September - card created for one of the Gecko Galz Challenges

October - DT card created for 12 Months of Christmas

November - card created for Beccy's Place Month of Holiday Cards

December -  card created for Ching-Chou Kuik (closing)

This will be my last post for 2023 as it is approaching midnight.
Happy New Year to all my followers.

Happy Christmas

It is reveal time at Card Chain Challenge for the cards created during December 2022.  This time my card was sent to Patricia in Texas.

Instead of the usual prompts, this time we had a Tic-Tac-Toe board.

I usually like to follow as many of the prompts that I can but this time just stuck to the fourth row of Squares + Deer + Emboss + Splats + Santa.

The reindeer is from The Sherlock's Home and I'm not sure of the source of the Santa image or the sentiment (I do know the sentiment is a clear stamp and Santa is a digital image).  Colouring is with copic markers.  I embossed three squares using an embossing folder and then added some splats.

Friend

It is reveal time for the cards sent and received for the Card Chain Challenge in November.

This is the card that I sent to Julia in MA.

And these are the prompts that we had:

I followed the sketch but changed the dots at the bottom for lettering.  I also followed the colors, scraps, Silhouettes, Friendship and Stencils.  The image is a digital image from Stitchy Bear Stamps which I think may have closed a while back.

This was a great design to use up some of my scraps - even the stencil piece is on a scrap of white cardstock.

I will be receiving a card from Kati in Germany.  As at today, the card has not arrived but then I think mail here has slowed down a little at the moment.  I read in the news a few days ago that they had to recall their delivery vehicles due to a fault which will slow down deliveries until they are repaired - not the best time of the year for this to be happening when mail volumes are greater.

For A Friend

The reveal for the cards exchanged for October has been published and I am only just managing to publish my blog post for mine.

These are the prompts that we had:

I have followed the sketch, colors, Fantasy Folk, Friendship and Use A Brush (watercolours).

I used foil card as well as patterned papers.  I'm not sure of the source of the image and I'm going to stop looking for now so that this blog post can be published.  I have finally located the image - it is from Spyder's Corner.  The sentiment is typed on the computer.  Colouring of the image is with Gansai Tambi Watercolour Paints.

The image is from Digi Darla and the sentiment is typed on the computer.  Colouring of the image is with copic markers.

Friend To Friend

It is time for the reveal of the cards sent during August for the Card Chain Challenge.  My card went to Kati in Germany.

These were the prompts we had:

I have used the sketch, colours, fruit and flowers, friendship acetate and aperture.  The paper is from a paper pad.  The image is from Doodle Pantry and the sentiment is from Deedee's Digis.  Colouring is with copic markers.

I don't have the card to share that I will be receiving as it hasn't arrived as yet.  I am purposely not going to look at the cards in the reveal post as I don't want to spoil the surprise.  I have heard from Kati that she has received the card that I sent.

For You Friend

It is time for the reveal of the cards sent during the month of June by the Card Chain Challenge participants.  I sent my card to Joanne in CT.

These were the prompts for July

I have followed the sketch and the colours.  I also used the bird and friendship themes as well as the "something a friend sent you' and the stitches appear around the message on the inside of the card.

The birds are coloured digi images from Blackberry Jelly and the sentiment is by From The Heart Stamps.  The check piece in the background was sent to me by another CCC participant some time ago.  Unfortunately, I didn't make a note of who sent it to me.

Lia in Netherlands sent me a card in July but as I am currently away from home, I don't know whether it has arrived or not.  I don't want to ruin the surprise by looking at the card before I receive it so I haven't included it here.

Friendship Lasts Forever

It is time for the reveal of cards posted in June for the Card Chain Challenge.  I think the postal system is back to being erratic worldwide.  Neither the card that I sent nor the one that was sent to me have been received.

This is the outside of the card (which follows the sketch and friendship theme):

The second photo shows the inside of the card following the Pop-Up Technique.

The colours were used on the outside and inside of the card.

These are the prompts:

The strips on the front of the card are from my offcuts box.  Colouring is with copic markers.

I was being sent a card by Robyn in Australia.  As it hasn't arrived yet, I didn't want to look at it on the reveal post so I'm not sharing it here.

Friend

It is time for the May reveal at Card Chain Challenge.  This is the card that I sent to Imke in Germany.  I haven't heard that it has arrived as yet so I hope it isn't too far away.

These were the prompts that we were given.  I ended up using all of them.

The image is from Bird's Cards and the sentiment is from Deedee's Digis.

I followed a tutorial for a Joy Fold Card from Beccy's Place.
