Sincere Gratitude ~ Colour Throwdown Challenge

Happy Sunday everyone!  I'm back with another card for the Colour Throwdown Challenge.  I'm loving my new sentiment set from Reverse Confetti.  This card will be going to the lovely owners of the Pumpkin Patch where I take my class each fall.  I always add a little pumpkin, sumthin' to their cards :)  I hope you can carve (pun intended!) out a bit of time for yourself today...thanks for stopping by :)

Sent with Lots of Love ~ Colour Throwdown Challenge

Greetings friends!  I am back today with a card for the Colour Throwdown Challenge.  These colours made me think of foliage and a serene sentiment.  I received my order from Simon Says Stamp this week and got some new patterned papers and this lovely Reverse Confetti sentiment set.  LOVE the scripty font on this one!  It's my last day of summer vacation and a beautiful sunny day :)  I'm trying to spend time doing some things that I love and happily spending time in the studio is one of them.  Hope your week is starting out well.  Happy Back to School if that applies to you :)  ox

Crushing on Card Stock ~ Day 4

Hello!  I'm back today with a card from the last day on my Online Card Class, Crushing on Cardstock.  I love the fall feel of this card.  So what did I do to the card stock?  I used a floral stencil with gesso on the light grey cardstock to give extra texture and also used glitter card stock for some shine.  I had to laugh at my little dew drops.  They are from The Robin's Nest back in the day (10 - 15 years ago?).  I kept them over the years and they come and go on cards.  Apparently, they are back in, maybe they never went away (only I did! lol).  Thanks for stopping by!  Hope your weekend is going well :)

Crushing on Cardstock ~ Day 3

 CASEing ALERT!!

Good day, friends! Today's card is a very close CASE of a lovely card made years ago by the talented Dawn McVey.  It was this card that influenced me to buy the PTI heart dies and Delicates dies.  I thought of this card during Day 3 of the Crushing on Cardstock class I've been taking this week.  So I combined Kristina's technique of painting gold along the heart edges and popping each layer up with foam tape.  The rest is all Dawn's inspiration from this gorgeous card :)  Have a lovely start to your weekend!

Crushing on Cardstock ~ Day 2

Hello friends!  I'm back to share my Day 2 cards from my Crushing on Cardstock Online Card Course.  I used 2 of the techniques from class, using different coloured card stock for my waves.  I have always loved this sentiment so years ago I printed it out several times on vellum.  I've had this last one for AGES and. again, finally found the perfect card.

Up next, I used an old PTI bead die to cut out some beautiful ray shapes.  Two rays were embossed (so happy embossing folders are making a comeback!  I find them much easier to use than impression plates) and one ray was cut from glitter cardstock.  That sweet gold bloom was another scrap waiting on my desk for so long.  I am on a roll with these old embellishments!

Here are the 2 cards together :)

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back soon with Day 3 :)

Sending My Gratitude ~ Using Up Old Embellishments

Greetings dear friends!  I must say that today's card was SO fun to create.  As us card makers know, unused embellishments can get out of hand.  At some point, I do throw little bits out (YIKES!) but some I just cannot part with.  I was determined to use some up so I grabbed several of them that I thought went together and laid them out.  The only thing I had to do was create the embossed polka dot panel and tie the palm leaves together.  That Sending My Gratitude ticket was made back when I had that PTI stamp set and I kind of regret selling it years ago. Isn't that always the way?  Hope your week has started out well.  Sending smiles...

Inspired by Wanda Guess

Happy Sunday, everyone!  As I was checking out Betsy Veldman's The Greetery blog, I happily noticed so many former PTI designers.  I checked out Wanda Guess' blog and WOW! You have to go look at her card from yesterday.  It inspired these 2 cards...

Here they are together.  It has been rather freeing to create using old stamp sets and dies.  I really did go a little overboard with supplies back in my heyday of card making!  Now, just to keep it real, I do have an order in to Simon Says Stamp as a little treat to myself for creating more again ;)

Tomorrow I start the new Online Card Class, Crushing Cardstock.  I thought this would be a great way to get the creative juices flowing.  Thanks for stopping by!

Thank you for all you do! Colour Throwdown Challenge

Hello again!  Ahh, it feels so good to say that :)  As I've been trying to catch up on the last 2 years of card blogging, I came across the Colour Throwdown Challenge.  AND, even though it's still summer for this teacher, I cannot resist making a teacher card!  Inspired by the colours and All the fun teacher embellishments, I came up with this card with some "vintage" October Afternoon paper, a Reverse Confetti apple waiting for 2 years for the perfect card, and a sentiment from my beloved and classic Verve Teachers Count retired stamp set.

Again, I am so thankful you've stopped by and for my lovely commenters...I am definitely following up on your suggestions!  Luanne, can you believe it's been 10 years since the original PTI Stampafaire!  So grateful I made the long trek out to it :)

This is all filling my soul, friends, thanks for being here :)

Hello! You Bloom Brighter Each Day!

Oh my goodness!  Hello!  It's been what seems a lifetime since I've blogged.  Long story short...once Verve stamps closed and PTI changed ownership, my card making heart broke and my mojo just didn't feel right.  I then focused more on work and other interests, making cards only to give away.  Fast forward to this summer and recovering from hernia surgery (no worries, all went well!) and not going very far due to COVID, cleaning the studio was a top priority.  Then I had to check out the blogs I used to follow and was pleasantly surprised to see that one of my old stamping grounds, The Card Concept, was still going strong with a GORGEOUS inspiration photo.  I knew it was a great place to foster my slowly growing mojo.  I have NO new products but a room full of loved paper, stamps, and ink.  What more do I need?  I've never been good at defining my style, so I'm going with Clean and Layered. I was inspired by the colours and then let my heart decide the rest.

Not sure how much posting I'll be doing, but it feels good to be creating again!  Thanks for stopping by!

Let's Celebrate!

Greetings everyone!  I'm back from a short, but fun trip with my girl work tribe and itching to get back into the studio.  This card is for Laurie's Fabulous Favourites challenge: Black and White.  Does it count if I made grey with my black?  I say yes, sure, of course!  I'm using a similar card layout to the one I used for a Make it Monday challenge HERE.  I love the simplicity of black and white...thanks for stopping by!  Have a great weekend :)

Let Us Be Grateful

Hello friends!!  Oh my it's been too long!  Here I thought I'd have tons of studio time this summer and yet here it's been about a month with no posts!  I may be talking to myself, but here goes.  I've been Marie Kondo-ing my kitchen and starting on my closet this week.  It takes a lot of time hauling out, sorting, disposing, and organizing but I have been loving the finished, clean areas of my home.  However, I was determined to find time for the latest Ink to Paper challenge to CASE a card from this month's release.  This was perfect as I needed a mojo jump.  I've CASED Kelly's stunning rainbow card found HERE with some old and much beloved PTI stamps :)  Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Birthday ~ The Card Concept

Hello friends!   Our new challenge over at The Card Concept challenge blog starts today and will be our last one until September!  I have one more week until summer vacation starts...I'm a LITTLE excited!  Our challenge is based on this "succulent" photo...pun intended :)

I went all clean and simply layered and used my new Tropical Prints stamps...I've waited for them forever!  I took inspiration from the colours and then created this birthday card for my sister who is visiting right now :)  We sure hope you'll join us before the summer break!  Head over to The Card Concept blog to see all the different interpretations from the Design Team then join in the fun!  Have a great day!

You've Been Really Lovely ~ The Card Concept

Hello everyone! Yikes!  I've been AWOL!  We were away last weekend and now it's report card writing week.  I feel out of my groove so it was great to get a little inky for our new challenge over at The Card Concept challenge blog.   Our challenge is based on this bright and cheery photo...

My clean and layered (with a splash of vintage) card was inspired by the primary colours.   One of my students' grandma came in on Friday and did weaving with the class...they loved it!  It was so calming and they were so proud to learn a new skill.  I think this card will do nicely to thank her for coming in and sharing her talent.

Happy Birthday

Greetings friends!  I'm back today with my take on Laurie's Favourites Challenge.  This time it's to use a favourite colour combination.  I have so many so I decided on the one that was sitting on my desk for a few days. It started with aqua and orange and then I added some yellow for a pop!  Thanks for stopping by!

You are Pretty Amazing

Hi everyone!  I'm back today with a quick little tag for Laurie's Favourites challenge: make a tag!  Tags are so much fun because they are a small canvas and look great on gifts or cards.  This sweet office inspired tag will definitely be going to our school secretary at some point because she is pretty amazing!  The tag die is from PTI's Scalloped Tags die collection and the typewriter image along with that fabulous alphabet ribbon (really just strips of fabric) is OLD and from Mish Wooderson's store (sorry, no longer available).  I bought extra lengths of it when it was available.

Thanks for stopping by...looks like this may be the last PTI challenge as they are changing to a new name Ink to Paper...it's been a company close to my heart for ten years.  Hoping they will continue their fun challenges.  Change is good...it means we are still alive :)  Have a great week.

Congrats 2019

Hello friends!  I've been busy making some custom grad cards for my friend at work.  This layout has become one of my favourites for graduation cards...I'm not sure where I first saw this layout...perhaps from a PTI designer...it's been my goto  ever since 2014 (see the first card HERE).  I also use it for generic non custom grad cards as seen here below.

If you look at my Graduation label you'll see various versions of this layout as well.  I'm entering this favourite layout in Laurie's Favourites Challenge for Win it Wednesday.  Thanks so much for stopping by!  Have a wonderful week!
