Joy ~ Make It Monday

Joymaureenplut

Good evening, friends!  Yes, I’m posting this TONIGHT because I can’t wait until Saturday!  I get like that sometimes when I’ve made something I didn’t think I could do.  And why is it that it’s usually something Melissa Phillips has so effortlessly made?  I’ve been thinking about this PTI Make it Monday challenge all week.  Last night I dug through what teensy tiny fabric scraps I had and was pleasantly surprised at the greens I found.  I wanted my tree to have a vintage feel and the fabrics were perfect!  I even threw in a handwriting one I had (yes, the upside down one that started out the right way until I tied it! HA!).  I was not even going to attempt to change it as didn’t want anything to ruin the roll I was on.  And someone once said to me that “only God is perfect, so it’s okay to leave imperfections on things.”  That’s my story!

There are two special people who could receive this card at Christmas (or I may have to attempt another one so they can both have one!)  Our sweetest secretary or the mom who keeps me on the “biscotti gift list,” even though I taught her son 5 years ago.  Her name is “Joy,” so that would really work out well.  I’ve got time before Christmas to make another one if I feel brave!
Thanks for stopping by!

A Little Something for You ~ PTI Stamp-a-faire

80sfoldermaureenplut

Greetings!  How about a trip back to the 80s?  I wasn’t going to play with this one, but after viewing Lexi’s Explore the Eighties video I thought, “hmmmm, that would actually be lots of fun to create!”  Kind of like how I felt 2 years ago making this mini booklet for Melissa’s challenge!  I used Lexi’s sample as my guide and then found my own items to create this fun rainbow folder.  Funny, I was in high school in the 80s and don’t remember these!  Either I wasn’t hip enough or can’t remember in my old age! HA!

Here’s the inside of the mini folder…I punched out the library pocket from some rainbow patterned paper…I was not in the mood to stamp and clean off 7 colours for a stamped image! LOL  I was happy to find these little velcro adhesive circles.  I cut one in half to use as a closure/fastener. Here’s another photo to show the folder style.  This was really fun!

Two more posts to go!  One more challenge and then the finale!

A Little Green Surprise!

green fun
Hi friends!  As we get closer to St. Patrick’s Day, I feel a little sad that I haven’t done it up right this year here on the blog {insert sad face here}.  I’ve just had to let it go and know that my focus for the next 2 years is on something wonderful.  I can’t beat myself up for not doing it all.  I did do something fun this week, though, and thought I’d share this cute idea I saw on Pinterest while doing a “St. Patrick’s Day” search.
St. Patrick's Day Teacher Gift

It’s meant for a teacher, but I made one for our amazing secretary.  She has a heart of gold so it was easy and fun to pick out a bunch of green items on my shopping trip last weekend.  Here’s what’s in it:
St. Patrick’s Day necklace, Glysomed lotion, hand sanitizer, green Extra gum, green container of M&Ms, green Aero bar, green notepad, green paper clips, green Easter cream egg, green Skittles, and all in a green flower tin I found at Target.
I put it by our secretary’s computer Monday morning with one of my St. Patrick’s Day cards (see post HERE)  :)

Well, that’s it for me today.  I’m reviewing the new BC Draft Curriculum today so it will be a great day talking education with colleagues :)  I hope your Wednesday is fabulous too!

Random Act of Kindness

stickynoteholder

Good morning everyone!  Today is a special post about the Random Acts of Kindness that make us smile and create new blog friendships :)  I’m a firm believer of “what you put out into the universe, you get back 100 fold.”  It has happened over and over to me, too many times to count, so I know it to be true.  Some of you will remember my Boise or Bust Blog Candy post back in May.  Julee had given me an extra set of the Teachers Count stamp and die set to give away (another act of kindness!).  The winner was Meghan of Little Pink Bike and she lives here in BC, close to yours truly :)  AND she’s a teacher!  Fast forward to last week when I get a sweet email from her saying to watch for something in the mail :)  Well, I did and here is what she sent.  She made the sweetest little sticky note folder and packaged it up so beautifully!

She blogged about it HERE and said she made one for herself and will have it on her desk to remind her of the hobby that she loves :)  That’s exactly what I’ll do with mine :)  So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, Meghan, my new BC Blog Buddy :)  Check out her blog…it’s fantastic!  I’m her newest fan :)  Have you had a RAK happen lately?  I’d love to hear about it!

Reindeer Noses!

reindeernosesmaureenplut

Oh, do I have a sweet little post for you today!  Months ago on Pinterest I saw this totally awesome Christmas treat and knew I had to make them come December.  I then did another search on Pinterest and found this lovely lady who was giving away these sweet toppers for FREE!

reindeernosesmplut

I’ve used Malteasers and a red chocolate ball for the noses.  We have a great Bulk Barn here in town so it’s easy and cheap to get these items in any quantity :)  I’m going back this week to get some more!  On the back of the topper, I added the Reindeer names with a photo editing program.

I’ve got these in a fun Christmas basket and will hand them to visitors as a little parting gift :)  Thanks for visiting!  Will be back tomorrow with a couple more cards!

Bringin’ Back the Mini Pizza Box!

minipizzabox

Good morning!  Happy Valentine’s Day!!  I had a few projects left over from the Verve Release last month that I didn’t post and thought it was appropriate to show this one on Valentine’s Day :)  I always like to stretch myself a bit and make a 3D project for new releases.  These little pizza boxes are so cute and it always amazes me that it only takes one sheet of paper to make them :)  PLUS I get to fill them with yummy theme candy for the photo shoot ;)

Serenity Prayer

alteredframe
Good morning!! Oh, my I love a Saturday morning!!  Today, I am up bright and early to meet the phone man over in the new house and get the phone line put in :)  It’s the phone number that I was desperate to save last summer.  I’ve had it for 17 years and am VERY attached to it!  Is that wrong?!  LOL  Anyways, I am also meeting my 2 stamping buddies up there to give them an unofficial “early” tour ;)  Hopefully the furnace works!!  Today’s project is my last official Just Us Girls Guest Designer post.  Oh, I have had a TON of fun with these gals, 2 of which are dear blog buddies (Lynn and Andrea).  Hmm, do they ever ask GDs to come back for a rerun?!  Would LOVE to!!  Anyways, this week is the fifth Wild Card Challenge week and Elise has challenged (and I do mean CHALLENGED) us to alter a frame somehow and creatively place art in it.  I have NEVER done this before, but after doing a bit of research and being inspired by this sentiment, I went to it!  My coworker recently bought a card with this fabulous Serenity Prayer on it.  She loved it so much, she keeps the card on her desk :)  So I wanted to make her something a little more permanent and then she can send the purchased card to a friend who may need the same little reminder now and again…there are some things in life we cannot change.  I hope she likes it :)  And I hope you’ll pop over to the JUGS blog and see all the amazing inspiration…then jump in and play!! It’s ALL good!
Okay, before I leave, I just want to let you know that I’ve been warned by the dh that I need to have the temporary studio packed by Wednesday and ready to move in Thursday and Friday…so I may be a little AWOL this week…I’ll try to pop in with maybe some reruns or CARDS publications…or maybe a few new house pics :)  Thanks for understanding :)  Hugs! Enjoy the weekend.
