Birthday Blog Candy Winners (3.17)

Just popping in with the 2 winners of my Birthday Blog Candy.  I squealed a little when the 2 numbers came up...3 and 17, as in March 17, my birthday!  How cool is that?

First winner of a $25 Verve GC is Luanne who wrote:

Have a wonderful Happy Birthday Moe! As one that just turned 60, 50 is young. Eat lots of cake and celebrate! (Hugs to you too!)

And the second winner of a $25 Verve GC is Lindsey who wrote:

Happiest birthday to you! And how sweet of you to do a giveaway! Hope that your 50s bring as many if not more blessings! :)

Luanne and Lindsey, please email me (moeplut@shaw.ca) and I'll send you your prizes.

Thanks for everyone who left such beautiful wishes for me :)  If my birthday celebration was any indication, my fifties will be fantastic!

Happy St. Patrick's Day, the BIG Birthday, and a Giveaway!

Hello dear blog friends!  If you have been following my blog over the past years, you know that St. Patrick's Day is my most favourite day of the year.  I am blessed that it is also my birthday.  And as you may have guessed by my card, it's a BIG one.

Yikes!  How did I get to be 50?!  With good luck and many blessings, that's how.  Instead of shying away from getting older, I am facing it full on with joy and laughter :)  AND how about with a fun giveaway?  To help me celebrate today, Julee from Verve has generously donated $50 in Verve Gift Certificates!  But because I feel so young, let's call it my 25 x 2 birthday and split that into two $25 GCs for more chance to win!

All you need to do is leave a comment here by 9:00 am (PST),  Sunday, March 20th.  After I announce the winners on the blog, you have 2 days to contact me with an email address so I can send you the GC.  How does that sound?

Thanks so much for helping me celebrate!  You can have some extra fun by joining me over on the Viva La Verve Blog.  I'm hosting this week with today's card sketch...

Random Act of Kindness

stickynoteholder

Good morning everyone!  Today is a special post about the Random Acts of Kindness that make us smile and create new blog friendships :)  I’m a firm believer of “what you put out into the universe, you get back 100 fold.”  It has happened over and over to me, too many times to count, so I know it to be true.  Some of you will remember my Boise or Bust Blog Candy post back in May.  Julee had given me an extra set of the Teachers Count stamp and die set to give away (another act of kindness!).  The winner was Meghan of Little Pink Bike and she lives here in BC, close to yours truly :)  AND she’s a teacher!  Fast forward to last week when I get a sweet email from her saying to watch for something in the mail :)  Well, I did and here is what she sent.  She made the sweetest little sticky note folder and packaged it up so beautifully!

thankyougift

She blogged about it HERE and said she made one for herself and will have it on her desk to remind her of the hobby that she loves :)  That’s exactly what I’ll do with mine :)  So, from the bottom of my heart, thank you, Meghan, my new BC Blog Buddy :)  Check out her blog…it’s fantastic!  I’m her newest fan :)  Have you had a RAK happen lately?  I’d love to hear about it!

Celebrating 4 Years of Blogging!

cupcake

Welcome to a very special post!  I’ve been blogging for 4 years and can’t let the day go by without having a little celebratory fun!  EEK! Where has the time gone!?  Well, take 1294 posts, multiply that by an average of 1 hour per card plus blogging time and that’s where the time has gone! LOL  But I’ve loved every single second of it!  I cringe when I look at that first post on July 25th, 2009…although, I’m happy to report my photography and card making skills have improved greatly since then ;)  And that’s what it’s all about…the journey, the process, the camaraderie with other card makers…BUT let’s get onto the FUN part of having an Anniversary…the presents!  In honour of the 4th Anniversary, I have 4 fun gifts to give away to 4 commenters!  Here they are…

1) A $50 gift certificate to the Verve Store, compliments of Julee, the owner, whose birthday happens to be today!  Thanks, Julee!

Boise or Bust Blog Candy!

MoeJulee
Good morning everyone!  Guess where I was this past weekend?!  The wedding we attended on the weekend was not here in town, it was in Boise, Idaho.  We traveled for 2 days to get there but what an amazing time we had.  The wedding was just beautiful and heartfelt and we had so much fun celebrating with friends there.  Now, someone else very special lives there!  It is also the home of Julee of Verve Stamps :)  I was SO excited when we got the news Tony’s friend in Boise was getting married.  Meeting Julee and Mark was one of those “bucket list” items.  She is even more sweet and beautiful in person than she is online.  And Mark, aka Mr. Verve, is just as kind and funny IRL.
MarkMoeJulee
I must say I was more than a little “star struck.”   I got to see Verve Headquarters and Julee’s studio where magic takes place.  AND I got to tickle and play a bit with their most adorable boys…photos to come on another post soon!  So, to celebrate this happy occasion, I’d like to offer up some Vervey goodness!  Julee gave me a set of Teachers Count and matching Apple Dies to offer as Blog Candy during the last Release as I inspired the set :)  That’s how sweet she is!

All you have to do to win is tell me about someone special you’ve met in real life OR would like to meet some day.  I’ll make the draw in one week and post the winner next Thursday, May 30th.  The winner will have 3 days to contact me.  Good luck!

An Irish Blessing on St. Patrick’s Day

happinessandluckmaureenplut
Top o’ the mornin’ to you and a thousand welcomes! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!  We are whooping it up here on the blog with a couple of special treats :)  First up is my card for the Waltzingmouse Stamps Blog Hop.  It’s on the 17th of every month which eventually leads us to March 17th and St. Patty’s Day!  No complaint here!  It seems appropriate that and Irish company take centre stage for my birthday celebration :)  The challenge this month is to show some “Luck.”  Easy to do with the Irish Blessings set.  So that’s where I started.  Then I thought it would be fun to add a little rainbow to one of the shamrock’s leaves.

If you’ve been here before on St. Patrick’s Day, you know that I love to offer up some Birthday Blog Candy.  It’s not a party without  presents, right?  So here’s what’s up for this year… a collection of some of my favourite stamps, dies and embellishments.

3.  Shamrock Die set by Verve Stamps (coordinates with the Lucky You set)

5. Bakers Twine pack from We R Memory Keepers
6. Gemstones Ritz Collection in green
7. 1 meter of green organza mini roses trim by Maya Road

And it’s easy to enter!  Just leave me a comment on today’s post with your favourite type of cake! YUM! My mom always made me a cake with green icing :)
I’ll pick a winner next Sunday at noon (March 24th).  Please make sure you leave an email in your comment if your name is not linked to an email address through Blogger.  The winner will have 3 days to contact me, otherwise I’ll randomly pick a new winner.

Thanks so much for visiting and have a glorious GREEN DAY!

Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner!

Hi everyone!  I’m taking a quick break from report card writing to bring you the winner of my Look Out World giveaway.  I had to laugh at many of the comments!  Seems like I need to do some curling tutorials ;)   But great to see some curling fans and players out there too!  The answers I was looking for were:

1) The “house” or “rings,”

2) The “button,”  and

3) Girly, you “rock” or the gems as they are “rocks.”

So without further ado…the winner with all the correct answers was…

Jacquie Southas said...

Love your curling story - brings back great memories of being talked into joining the UVic curling club as a complete novice many years ago.
Your card is all about curling - the house, the button on the button (my fav detail!) and the "rock" reference! Do I get bonus points for saying I cried when I heard Sandra Schmirler died?

winner

Congrats, Jacquie!  She’s a fellow British Columbian and has even curled before!  Yes, Jacquie, I did cry when Sandra died.  She was a true champion on and off the ice :)  I get choked up each time they show commercials for her foundation.  Jacquie, send me a quick email (moeplut@shaw.ca) with your mailing address and I’ll get these stamps out to you ASAP.

Thanks for participating everyone!  Hope to be back tomorrow with a quick little card.

Look Out World! (and a Giveaway!)

girlyyourockmaureenplut
Hey friends!  I have a super fun post this morning!  I’m sure few, if any, of you followed the Canadian Junior Women’s Curling (hand up, though, if you did! LOL).  We here in Kamloops sure did as our hometown girls sailed through the round robin and WON the championship that sees them travel to Russia this weekend to compete at the World’s Junior Women’s Championship.  Here’s our team consisting of these sweet and awesome 17 year olds…
teamcanada AND here’s our first hometown team that won 31 years ago…Team Plut (my sister from Texas!).  I went with them and turned Sweet 16 in Winnipeg!  It was impossible to find the photo on the internet so it’s been scanned from the original that hangs in my parents’ home on the family wall.  That’s my sister on the far left.  They look a little exhausted! LOL

Okay, back to this card…one of our Teacher on Calls, who enjoys buying my cards at work, approached me this past week asking if I make commissioned cards.  Yes, if I can :)  She told me she knows one of the players on our Team Canada and was wanting to give her a card before she left for Russia.  Well, she asked the perfect person! LOL  I’m a devoted curling fan AND my sister won the same championship 31 years ago!  LOVE the connection!  I’m telling you, I had SO much fun creating this card!  I was in that zone where the creative juices were flying and the smile never left my face.  I knew I was going to use Dawn’s sentiment from her Signature Greetings set, but when I found the “Look Out World” stamp in Verve’s To the Moon, I shrieked in delight!  How perfect is that?  I bet these ladies never dreamed their stamps would be used for a curling card! LOL Are you still with me?  Okay, here are the giveaway deets.  In honour of our Kamloops girls heading off to the World’s Junior Curling Championship, let’s have a little stamp giveaway.  I’ve got 4 fun and whimsical sets from Clearly Besotted Stamps to giveaway (see stamps below).

All you need to do is leave a comment below telling me the 3 curling references on my card (the Canadian ribbon and Look Out World are not included).  I’ll pick a winner next Sunday around noon.  Please make sure I can contact you or come back next Sunday to see if you are the lucky winner.  The winner has 3 days to contact me or I’ll pick a new one.

Good luck and good luck, Team Canada!
