Batrep Dwarves/Dark Elves vs Wood Elves
Saturday saw everyone gathered again at Daniel's place for a dose of Fantasy after a looooong break. We were playing Dwarf/DE vs new book Wood Elves at 2.5k per player. Pictures are already up, so without further ado, let's discuss the battle.
My 2.5k army. On the small side to squeeze in my Pegasus Lord.
1 24x Witchelves block with Cauldron of Blood in its midst,
2 RxB units of 10 each.
2 units of Warlocks at the back.
3 RBTs cos of points,
a lvl 4 Supreme and a lvl 2 Sorc both Life lore.
1 Hydra and 1 Khardibyss rounds up my small elite army.
Daniel's Dwarves. Big on infantry blocks with a few war machines.
2 blocks of 30 warriors,
1 block of 20 hammerers
1 block of 25 ironbreakers
1 block of 20 miners
2 units of crossbows
1 cannon
2 bolt throwers
1 Gyrocopter
1 Gyrobomber.

Daniel and I decided to push heavily down the left flank and this flank has all our heavies. All 5 infantry blocks are lined up on the left with a Hydra, Warlocks, 1 RBT, Cannon, Crossbows and Bolt Thrower as support. Behind my Hydra was a RxB unit holding both my Sorceress.

X-Wing 100 Points Battle
After a short hiatus from X Wing, I finally got back into it with Roy at Titan. Flew the Aces and I am impressed with some of the moves those new ships can do.
This was the list that I played (courtesy of Roy):
Kath Scarlet with Expert Handling, Autoblaster
Carnox Jax with Push the Limit
Turr Phennir with Veteran Instincts
Roy flew this:
Wes Janson
Ibtisam with Opportunist and Heavy Laser Cannon
Jan Ors with Blaster Turret and Recon Specialist
Didn't manage to take a lot of photos except for the two below. Found Carnox Jax and Turr Phennir really powerful when it came to small skirmish because I could dart out of fields of fire and bring their guns to bear. I struggled with the use of Kath Scarlet as the ship has a large base so I kept clipping asteroids.

Batrep: Altansar Eldar vs Hive Fleet Behemoth
Fresh off the game with Marshall yesterday, I challenged him again to another game of 40k. This time I looked into the moves I made in the previous game and found the mistakes. From deployment to actual game play, I noticed a few mistakes. Confirming these moves, I consulted BatrepPat and he slammed home a few pointers for me. With changes in mind, I started this game differently. Enjoy the following batrep.
Eldar army list is the same from the previous game against Marshall.

My Farseers rolled the following powers:
Warlord: Prescience, Eldritch Storm and Precognition; Inspiring Presence from Command Traits
Farseer 2: Prescience, Fortune and Forboding
Deployment: I learnt something - my Farseers kept dying too quickly. I needed them to be within units. Having 3 units of jetbikes meant I could use them for bodies. And that's what I changed this game.
We rolled for 1st Turn and I won the roll off. I chose to go first to get my jinx and powers up. Night Fight was on.

Batrep: Altansar Eldar vs Hive Fleet Behemoth: Skyblight

Deployment: Hammer & Anvil
Mission: The Emperor's Will
Warlord: Guide, Prescience, Precognition
Command Trait: Re-roll all Difficult Terrain
2nd Farseer: Misfortune, Forewarning and Doom
Tyranids rolled up the following:

We used the same lists we have been using thus far. You can find the Eldar list here and the Tyranid list here. Do check the batreps on there too and let me know if you enjoy them!
On to the batrep proper!
Turn 1
The Necro-8th Guard Regiment is finally complete.
This lot began way back in 2008/9. And as always being much of a hobby butterfly I tend to stray between projects and never really got around to finishing up an army. With the recent Astra Militarum book released and 7th edition on the horizon I picked up my brushes and put the final touches to these guardsmen.
I will probably be writing up an army list for them real soon. Definitely going to add in some air support from my already painted pool of Guard models. Till then enjoy the pics.

Craftworld Altansar Background Added
Read the Militarum Tempestus book the other day and caught the following regarding Craftworld Altansar. I have added the brief into the Craftworld Background Compilation
When the legendary Ordo Tempestus relics, the Barbed Gauntlets
of Avitus, had been stolen by the Eldar from Craftworld Altansar, the Scions of
the 55th Kappic Eagles were summoned to retrieve them. With vengeful
purpose, the Eagles smashed through wave upon wave of Guardians in order to
reclaim them.

Who knew the recent battle with Abby could have been the re-enactment of the retrieval of the Gauntlets!

Batrep: Night Goblins vs High Elves
I played this battle last week and meant to put it up sooner but work took the better part of my time. Here it is. I played a 1800 points of Night Goblins led by Snarsnik against the High Elves of Alarielle played by Dennis Sng. This was part of the Blood in the Badlands Campaign by Titan Games.
The mission was a little strange. Something that Rico of Titan Games cooked up. We rolled the following terrain.
Everything ready |
My level 4 Nigh Goblin Shaman rolled these up |
Deployed most of my stuff on this Scree Slope. I repositioned my Rock Lobba once we found out that I needed LOS |

Batrep: 1850 Altansar Eldar vs Alpha Legion (30k Army)
Managed to get YouCai (aka CrazyRat) out to play a game of 40k with me. It has been quite awhile since I played with him. I brought my usual 1850 of Altansar, hoping to continue testing this army. I tweaked it a little by changing out the Scatter Lasers for Bright Lances.

Pre-game
We rolled for Big Guns Never Tire and Vanguard Strike. We rolled up 4 objectives so each of us took turns to put 2 in our own deployment zones.
Deployment
Turn 1
Turn 2
Eldar Turn 2 sees the arrival of most of my stuff except for the Warlord and 1 unit of jetbikes
Turn 3
Turn 4 and 5: YC didn't do much, he had only his unit of 20 left but he played on. Good sportsman!
YC's list may need a little work. 20 strong unit is not doing much holding on to objectives. While hard to shift, they soaked up most of his 1850 points too. YC is going to tweak his list and come back harder I am sure!
The Wraithknight and Guardians really worked today, taking out a number of the major threats. My Walkers worked well too, ensuring that anything I targeted would be deleted. I am still figuring out how best to use my Farseers. Keep them in Reserve and they miss out at least 2 turns of casting. But against a Deepstrike army, putting them on the table would end up with a dead Seer in Turn 2. I will keep testing.
Hope you guys enjoyed the batrep!

Only the Dire Avengers left that is not base coated! |
Work on the War Walkers is almost complete. Just the weapons left |
The big guy with preshade and basecoat done. Now left with the panel lines |
YC always had a soft spot for anything Horus Heresy. He even lent me his Book 1: Massacre. Thanks YC! It's no surprise that he brought a 30k army that he is working on.

YC's Alpha Legion |
Probably the most expensive collection around |
YC is working hard to complete the models |
My Farseer 2 managed to roll up Guide, Fortune and Foreboding |
While my Warlord Farseer got Guide, Doom and Forewarning. He rolled Command Traits and received Coordinated Assault |
Deployment
YC kept most of his units in Reserve (Deepstriking and Flanking) |
20 strong Legion unit with Apothecary in the building with 1 Obj |
Remembering the hard hitting Deepstriking army with Meltas of Patrick, I kept my Serpents back to the corner and out of range of his 24" guns |
Deployed my first unit of Jetbikes behind this LOS blocking wall |
YC's units in Reserve |
My units in Reserve or in the Serpents |
The first few drops fly in. My Serpents were ripe for the picking without their cover save |
YC advanced his Rhino and Demolisher up the middle ground |
The Melta armed Dread does 1 HP on my Serpent with the Guardians |
Eldar Turn 1: I cast Guide and Fortune on the Wraithknight. |
Focused all fire on the Dread as it was one of the few things in YC's list that had an answer to my Wraithknight |
Managed to ping 2HP off the Dread, leaving it limping on 1HP |
More Chaotic reinforcements show up. This special character has the ability to cause Penetrating Hits when the moves in, taking out my Guardian Serpent. YC killed off another 4 in the ensuing blast |
He dropped in a unit of Headhunters (ironically without heads) behind my Knight, hoping to take it out from behind |
YC dropped a funny droppod with the missile pack in the heart of the table. Unfortunately the Rhino runs aground trying to go through the wall! Anything BUT ONES! |
Terminators deploy via Dreadclaw droppod. That thing is nasty when it falls! Does 1HP and stunned my Serpent |
CRRRASHH |
YC opens up and does 3 wounds on the Knight. Fortune is useless with that many AP2 weapons |
The pod opens up and does 1 wound on the Knight |
And fires off another onto my Jetbike unit at the back |
Warp Spiders, Jetbikes and War Walkers all arrive |
YC moved his Dread back when he realised that a stunned Dread could not charge |
With the Terminators in my backfield, I had no choice but to put pressure and try to Bladestorm him |
After I moved everything |
Guardians did me proud today and took out all 5 Terminators after a round of shooting |
My Avenger Serpent backed up and took out one wound from the character |
The War Walkers took out that pod |
Totally fluffed my shooting so I charged the Knight into the Demolisher |
While a combined charge by the Farseer and 3 jetbikes managed to kill off the two last Marines |
Pulled back most of my force and shuffled them about |
Pulled the Farseer into the safety of the ruins |
The Dreadclaw moves! It kills off 3 Guardians from the 2 units and does one HP on the Serpent |
The Dread finishes off the Serpent by putting in one more shot, crippling it. Thankfully the Serpent didn't explode |
YC charges in with this character but failed to hit |
In my Turn 3, I moved my Knight behind his tanks and surrounded his Dread with my Guardians. Buffs all around |
War Walkers took out the Rhino with 10 Marines |
After shooting into this unit I charged my Knight into it |
They fled and my Knight proceeded to wipe them out |
Regrouped my army now to face his 21 strong unit |
Destroyed the Dread with a few well placed shots and took out the Special Character with the Spiders |
Removed 2 HP on the Droppod |
Converged my entire army onto that building |
Opened everything I had at that last ruin |
Advanced while staying out of his 24" bolter range |
Pushed into his deployment zone in Turn 5 |
In Turn 5 I went in to contest the last objective earning me Line Breaker as well. |
Captured for 3 - Big Guns allowed Heavies to capture |
Captured for another 3 |
Another 3 |
Game ended at Turn 5 |
The Wraithknight and Guardians really worked today, taking out a number of the major threats. My Walkers worked well too, ensuring that anything I targeted would be deleted. I am still figuring out how best to use my Farseers. Keep them in Reserve and they miss out at least 2 turns of casting.
