Batrep: High Elves vs Empire, 2500 Points

Sam just returned from Australia and will be back in Singapore till Feb 2011 so get your games in with the man! We had pre-arranged for 2500 points of good old Fantasy mash-up. It was going to be his Empire vs my High Elves.

I went for my standard list - a take all comers list that I use to play against everyone.

Fantasy Battle Report: High Elves vs High Elves

Another game pitting the Elves against each other. 2400 each side, Pitched Battle. This time I went against Defu and his High Elves. I learnt a couple of things this game. Know your own army and learn to hold. Do not let 100 points of Eagles lure you into moving 300 odd points into it's death! Also, I had a stronger magic phase. I should have let Defu come to me in parts.

Fantasy Battle Report: High Elves vs Ogres

Daniel and I had a 2400 point game. I played my usual High Elves with no change to the army list I used against Melvin in the previous game (HE vs Empire). I wanted to see how it performed against myriad enemies.

Campaign - Turn 6

Beautiful Saturday. Johnnie has been doing some pre-game smack talk, even extending it to Facebook! He's a good sport though and I really hope they will join us for regular games at my place.

So final Turn of the Campaign. Our assault on the Space Marine Hive City was a failure leaving us quite vulnerable. The Orcish warlords thinking us as easy targets decided to come down on us. Damian decided to give them the Blitzkrieg Scenario - why "give"? Well, when we assaulted the Space Marines, Damian chose the SM scenario. When it was our turn to defend, Damian chose the Orc scenario. See a pattern?

Warhammer Magic Cards

For those of you out there looking for something to protect your Battle Magic Cards by Games Workshop, you will have noticed that they are HUGE and cannot fit into the standard Deck Protectors.

I was out shopping on Saturday and I found something that these cards will fit into quite snuggly!

I actually found them at your standard bookstore. For those in Singapore, you can head on over to Bugis Junction, Level 3. There's a bookstore there and they sell for like $1 each. Cheap and cheerful!

Now those Battle Magic cards will never be damaged again! I know I'm getting myself 10 sleeves!

GW direct order consolidation.

I am planning to make an order from games workshop directly there are a number of miniatures I want that are under the "direct only" category so I have no choice but to pay full price for them.

However in hope of lowering shipping prices I am asking if any of you local guys (Singapore) are interested in joining me for this order. So that we can split the shipping.

Hong Kong 40K Tournament

Basically the plan was for the rhinos to rush forward and get to mid-table while shielding the vindicators as they advanced into range. The scouts would hold an objective and allow the tactical marines more freedom. The terminators would march ahead of the vehicles as best as possible and act as a skirmish line. And the landspeeders would zip around on either anti-tank or anti-infantry duty depending on opponent and situation.

High Elf Army

I am working hard to raise my High Elf Army with the new models. With the launch of the Island of Blood, I am now able to field mostly plastic army! I swapped a set with CrazyRat and Ethan will be passing me his IOB High Elves too. That would give me enough plastic to raise a 24 Swordmaster unit, 15 Ellyrian Reavers, 24 Seaguard. Why 24? Because I cannot use the Command Group 3 times. So if anyone out there has spare HE from IOB, do contact me!

Without further ado, these are works in progress:

First IOB contents completed. Another box sitting behind me beckons. I am concentrating on building another more important unit. One that I do not have the metal minis for. Which are these you ask?

These fellas are well detailed. I am not such a big fan of the big helms but they are plastic and they fit together so snuggly! I have 3 boxes of these Phoenix Guard and I have already started work on the 2nd box. I intend to push them to 30 men. My anvil! Watch this space! 

High Elves vs Empire

Had a great long weekend! The guys were over at my place and the new place is quite good for gaming with space for 2 tables going at the same time. Wish we had another board so the guys don't have to worry about moving units on the 40k Board - it's gravel - not conducive to moving units on trays.

Campaign - Nids vs SM - Turn 5

As you guys would have seen the post by Grimcron earlier, we played a mega battle last weekend. It was 4000 points of Nids (played by Grim and I) vs 3600 of Space Marines (Abdullah and Chiyong). Epic is the only word I can use. Grim has a huge collection of minis and all painted too! I need to paint as fast as him! Then again, I have 2 Fantasy armies that are painted! 

We chose to pull a full out assault on the Space Marine's Hive City on the map. If we manage to break through this barricade, we will establish a beachhead into their territories and be able to push through their zone.

Fantasy - HE vs Lizzies

Not a full batrep but I had a game of 2250 with YX last night. Played the standard Pitched Battle vs Lizzies.

I went for a pretty standard deployment with most of my units in the centre of the board supported by my Tiranoc Chariots (chariot base with Silver Helm is a Chariot). Opening game saw little action except for a few magic spells flying around. Casted Pit of Shades 2D6 version on his Sauruses but it scattered to only kill 2. Cannot believe the Slann actually dodged the spell - AGAIN! Initiative 2 and he rolled a 2. 

Salamanders are very powerful in this edition allowing him to take out half my unit of spears. A full half of them. Chariot and Great Eagle saw off one unit of Salamanders and another was destroyed by my other chariot. However by then they had little effect in the game. 

By the time his main units engaged my army, I had very little to counter YX. Strong hard to shift core of Lizard blocks pushed my units back. Victory went to the Lizards. I must find a strong counter attack.

On another note, we will be having a Fantasy game this Friday, 5th November (Deepavali) starting from 11AM. If you live in Singapore, you will likely have my number. SMS me and I will send you my address. 

Fantasy regiment challenge outriders complete!

The unit started out being painted fast and furious. And then work got the better of me and my momentum came to a halt.

Here's my regiment of 5 outriders. I think they have the suitably noble look. Can't wait to add another 5 more to make it a 10 strong unit.

Unfortunately my cannon unit did not get completed. Still the same from my previous update. Will post them up as soon as they get finished.
