Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri picks up a Maple Leafs jersey on the ice after losing to the Washington Capitals in NHL hockey action in Toronto on Wednesday, January 7, 2015. CP
British Columbia Premier Christy Clark trolls Toronto Maple Leafs fans on Twitter. On Tuesday, following news stories that three spectators were charged in Toronto for tossing jerseys onto the ice during the Leafs’ 4-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, the Twitter account of B.C.’s premier tweeted cheekily that most Canadians would rather be arrested than wear a Leafs jersey. The Maple Leafs have lost five games in a row and 13 of their previous 16. See below her humorous tweet;

Rolling Stone Names U2 'Song of Innocence' Best Album Of 2014

Huff
Rolling Stone magazine is not known to have the most progressive of musical tastes, but the Internet still erupted into surprised laughter when the venerable publication rolled out its best albums of 2014 list and U2's controversial "Songs of Innocence" was sitting there at the top. (The number two spot, by the way, was secured by the less controversial but even older Bruce Springsteen.)

Surely the magazine wanted to get us talking, but they also had to expect the result would instead be mocking.

This was Rolling Stone's explanation:

"There was no bigger album of 2014 — in terms of surprise, generosity and controversy. "Songs of Innocence" is also the rebirth of the year. Bono, the Edge, Adam Clayton and Larry Mullen Jr. put their lives on the line: giving away 11 songs of guitar rapture and frank, emotional tales of how they became a band out of the rough streets and spiritual ferment of Seventies Dublin. This is personal history with details."

Oops! Naked, saluting Satan statue removed from Vancouver park

A pop-up Satan statue has been removed from a Vancouver park, shortly after the mysterious and controversial artwork was erected.

Vancouver officials say a nude statue of Satan was removed from a park near the Grandview Highway because it was not officially commissioned by the city.

The statue depicted a nine-foot-tall, anatomically-faithful figure of a red-skinned Satan, complete with horns and a visibly prominent representation of a phallus. The statue holds one hand up in a devil-horn salute.

Passersby first noticed the statue on Tuesday morning.

The sexually explicit statue was visible to commuters riding the SkyTrain route nearby.

No one has claimed responsibility for creating the statue.

A sarcastic tweet from Canada’s delegation to NATO instructing Russians to be mindful of their national borders was apparently itself wrong about the geography of Eastern Europe.

Following the claim by Russian President Vladimir Putin this week that 10 Russian soldiers captured in Ukraine accidentally wandered into the neighbouring country, the Canada at NATO account tweeted out a cartoonish map labelling the two countries “Russia” and “Not Russia.”

“Geography can be tough,” read the tweet. “Here’s a guide for Russian soldiers who keep getting lost & ‘accidentally’ entering #Ukraine.”
