CAS Colours & Sketches #265 - Sketch

Hey!

Can you believe March is nearly over? This year is flying by! Our hostess this month over at CAS Colours & Sketches has been Fiona and we've enjoyed wonderful inspiring challenges. This weeks sketch HERE is no exception.

This week started off nice, with some lovely Spring sunshine. It reminded me of a sentiment in the recently released Spring Botanicals Daffodil clear stamp set. So I decided to focus my card using the sketch around the sentiment...

The pennant feature in the sketch reminded me of a currently retired Uniko clear stamp set called Wonderful Washi. You can view the set and cards HERE on Pinterest. The set was launched when Washi tape was a huge trend. I decided to dust off one of the stamps, masked my layer and stamped it using my MISTI.

The Daffodil flower head is one that I have had stamped and watercolored for some time and all it required was fussy cutting!

Super simple and short and sweet from me today, but I hope I have inspired you to join in on the challenge?! If you need a little more inspiration, pop on over HERE to see what the CC&S Design Team have created.

Thanks for stopping by!

Geometric Generation

Hey!

It's all a bit CrAzY here at the Brown household this week! It's all go to get jobs done around the house before the 'lil beans arrive. Today and yesterday we have trades men in who are fitting new windows and French doors. So along with it being noisy it is dusty and the house is upside-down! It'll all be done by the end of today and then I have a mammoth cleaning job ahead of me the rest of the week.

Luckily (I might rephrase that later!) this morning I am back at the hospital for another scan, so I am away from the chaos for 3 hours at least!

Yesterday evening after a little tidy up in the kitchen & while hubby was out playing football I decided to relax in the studio for an hour and made this card...

It didn't take the whole hour up, so I spent some time organising and part prepping hubby's cousins Wedding Invitation production line! His cousin gets married in September and I am on a tight schedule to get them completed in case the 'lil beans arrive sooner than expected.

Anyway, I was inspired by this weeks A Cure For The Monday Blues HERE on Taheerah's blog and the inspiration pic seen below. I was also partly inspired by this weeks Guest Designer for the challenge Leigh Penner's card created for the challenge.

It was nice to dust off a couple of older sets that haven't seen much ink for a while too, Background Builders: Round In Circles & Wonderful Washi. I'm really quite pleased with how it turned out :)

I had better get moving and go pick up my MIL who kindly comes along to the hospital with me for company :) We've some knitting to do today whilst we wait, I will share a fe things I've made over the next week or so.

I'll be back tomorrow with more to share & until then, thank you for stopping by today :)

Lots Of Thanks

Hey!

I do hope your week has got off to a good start. I've had a reasonably good start here at Uniko Studio HQ, slowly getting through the to do list! One of my things to do was make a start on my Christmas Thank you's and I managed to do that yesterday. The card I am sharing today is one of the cards I made...

I've kept it pretty simple, letting the sentiments take the focus. Still loving Washi tape and to dust Wonderful Washi off again I made my own washi tape in two colours. Those who know me will know that I have really stepped out of my comfort zone by tearing the edges of the washi tape I made!

When I am using DST I have to cut it off the roll using scissors, I simply can't tear it as it's too messy, just one of my little OCD things! I also made a little tiny dent in my embellishment box and used a SU! Hodgepog Hardware piece and tied a little bakers twine bow around it.

The current challenge over at Keep It Simple HERE is anything goes, so I thought I'd enter it into that challenge.

That's all from me today, I had best get some work done! Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by :)

A Wonderful Washi Christmas!

Hey!

I just LOVE it when you come across a challenge that is just perfect for a particular stamp set and that is just the case with the current Retro Sketches sketch seen HERE and below...

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew that Wonderful Washi Christmas had to be inked up & used! Apologies to those who are not yet in Christmas mode, I seemed to have got a lot of Christmas spirit at the moment & seem to have missed out Autumn! However, I have a few Autumnal projects I'd like to create which I will share soon.

Anyway, back to the card in question! I decided to make my own Washi tape using tissue paper & wide double sided tape. I also decided to make my homemade tape sparkly, so I stamped & heat embossed it before adding the double sided tape to the reverse. It does wrinkle the tissue paper slightly, but I think that adds to the effect of creating your own Washi tape.

Well this week seems to have got of to a much better start than last week, which isn't hard, but hopefully it's a sign that I am getting back into a routine of normality!

That's all from me today, I'm dusting off the sketchbook today to design some loveliness! I'll be back tomorrow though with more to share :) until then thank you for stopping by today.

Straight to it!

Hey!

How are we all today? I hope your week has got off to a good start. So, I was still rather jet lagged yesterday due to only 3 hrs sleep, so much for me thinking I was nearly over it, my body clock was still on Vegas time, last night was better so it must be somewhere over the Atlantic now! Lol!

Anyway, I kept myself VERY busy yesterday and even found time to stamp to make this card...

I decided to make another masculine card to add to the small stash I have, I've been neglecting the men when it comes to card making! Easily done as feminine cards are SO much easier to make with all the lovely floral supplies available these days.

For this card I used one of the arrows from Accent Essentials: Arrows and paired it with one of the tiny chevron stamps from Wonderful Washi - Christmas. I inked one side of the chevron in Pumpkin Pie & the other in Real Red, inspired by the colours on one of the trees outside the studio. I did the same for the sentiment which is a mix of All Occasion Sentiments #2 and FONTiments - Birthday. The stamped panel is adhered to the base card with foam adhesive for a little dimension.

That's all from me today, I've some reordering of dies to do today & finalise some new die designs, plus some stamp designing to do, so many ideas that I need to bring to life!

Have a great day & thank you for stopping by :)

Hey!

Hey Everyone!

Today I have another scheduled post & a simple floral card to share with you all...

I've used a mix of Uniko Studio stamp sets on this card. I started out by stamping a Wonderful Washi ribbon down the side of a white card base using Smokey Shadow ink. I then stamped the 'Hey!' sentiment on to a white piece of CS and die cut it using a Sizzix circle die post stamping, so that I could position the sentiment to leave room to adhere a cluster of leaves & flowers from Natures Treasures 1 and Flower Power #2.

Thats all from me today & thank you for stopping by :)

Design Team Inspiration - Stamping on Patterned Paper

Hello Uniko Studio Fans!!

Nicki here bringing you some Design Team Inspiration! The theme today is Stamping on Patterned Paper. It's really a simple technique and it can really add some interest to your cards!

Here are the supplies I used for this card....nothing out of the ordinary!

I started off by cutting a piece of patterned paper slightly smaller than the card base (width). Then, using the Wonderful Washi stamp set, I stamped directly onto the paper using two different ink colors, and three washi patterns. A thin strip of black cardstock was placed next to the paper, and both were adhered to the card base.

Not only did I stamp with ink on the patterned paper, but I also heat embossed the polka dot birthday label with glittery embossing powder. It's such a pretty look...see the image below for a close up!

I then mounted the birthday label to a piece of black cardstock, and adhered it to the card (slightly hanging off the edge) using foam tape. That's it! A simple technique can create a very interesting look!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope I have inspired you to dig out that patterned paper you've been stashing away, and put it to use! :)

Wonderful Washi Uniko Studio Style!

Hey!

Sorry, for the lack of posting yesterday & the late one today, we've been enjoying a sunny Bank Holiday weekend here in the UK and I've spent some quality time with my Fiancé. However, I've managed to sneak a little time in the studio this evening, whilst the football is on to pack some lovely orders to be mailed tomorrow & also to make this card...

The current challenge over at 'Less is More' HERE is perfect to dust off and ink up Uniko Studio's Wonderful Washi clear stamp set, as the challenge is to use Washi tape. I designed this clear stamp set many moons ago for paper crafters like me who find it difficult to choose a colour and pattern of Washi tape to purchase! With this set you have 5 different patterned & double ended ribbons to choose from and they can be stamped in any colour you like, you can check the stamp set out HERE & HERE.

For my card today I decided to go down the masculine route as it's been a while & I need a few more my stash!

I started out with a little 10 x 10 cm Pure Poppy card base & I stamped the cross/grid Washi ribbon down each side using black ink. I then stamped the grunge circles from Background Builders: Round In Circles in Real Red, Hawaiian Shores & Smokey Shadow. The sentiment is from Time & also the grey stamped dots. A few red & black rhinestones along with a couple SU! Candy dots finished the panel off, which is mounted to the card base using foam adhesive.

A super quick, minimal fuss masculine birthday card, which in my opinion is what the majority of men want!

OK, that's all from me tonight, I'll be back tomorrow with more to share, until then THANKS for stopping by today :)

Introducing...All Occasion Sentiments #2

Hey!

What a FABulous week it's been so far & it's only Wednesday! Did you enjoy yesterday's product introduction? If you missed it you can catch up on it HERE and HERE. Don't forget there are mystery prizes up for grabs that will be announced HERE on the blog on June 11th. There are lots of ways to win, by commenting on the blog or a DT member blog during the countdown to release, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest

OK, back to what we're all here for another product introduction! Today, I get to introduce you to the next All Occasion Sentiments stamp set, a mini set which packs a punch again with some super sized sentiments...

This first card was inspired by the NEW Runway Inspired Challenge HERE and seen below. I'd had a similar card in mind before I saw the challenge, but as soon as I saw the inspiration photo this card was practically finished!

The result a clean & simple, graphic masculine card that gets straight to the point!

My next card is one for the girls and has a little more fuss about it...

On this card you get a little peek a Flower Power #2, which will be formally introduced later in the lead up to release!

I started out by stamping the sentiment, which comes as 2 separate stamps onto Pool Party CS. I decided to stamp the 'HAPPY' in Hawaiian Shores to add a little more interest and to limit the amount of black. The flower is stamped in Pool Party ink first and then VersaMark and heat embossed with Cosmic Shimmer EP. I added a few aqua rhinestones to 3 of the white flower centres for that added bling!

I've one last card to share today using one of the other sentiments contained in the set. For this card I used the CAS(E) this Sketch! layout seen HERE, and I decided to play along with the NEW 'Less is More' challenge HERE which is to use the colour of your front door. My front door is a regular UPVC white door with a silver letter box...

So, I went with a white and silver colour combo to create this card...

I used silver pigment ink to stamp the 'Awesome' and heat embossed with stardust EP for that added sparkle. I then just stamped, embossed and fussy cut the star out to overlay the one in the sentiment. I used a Washi ribbon from Wonderful Washi Christmas, again stamped in silver and embossed with stardust EP.

I'd LOVE to know what you think of todays introduction :) A couple of design team members are introducing with me today too, so be sure to stop by Aimes' BLOG and Taheerah's BLOG to see how they've used All Occasion Sentiments #2.

We also have a FABulos guest designer joining us this month for release, who I am sure is a FAN of many a crafter and not just me!

So without further ado I would like to welcome Jen Nelson as Guest Designer, welcome Jen :) I can't wait to see how Jen has used the NEW soon to be released Uniko Studio products and we don't have to wait too long as Jen has a card today too introducing todays set.

Be sure to stop on by Jen's Blog The Tiny Blue Butterfly to see how she has used All Occasion Sentiments #2.

I'll be back tomorrow with the next product introduction, until then thank you for stopping by & have a lovely day.

Glorious Sunshine!

Hey!

It's another glorious day of sunshine here in the UK and I hope to be saying that for a few months just to pre warn you - Haha! The sunshine certainly makes me happy and gives me a spring in my step, plus I seem to get more done - Haha!

Anyway, onto todays card...

I decided this morning to have a little inky session early and played along with the current Fusion (Hypothesis) #5 challenge HERE and seen below.

I fused both the sketch and the colours from the photo inspiration on my card and fused Wonderful Washi, the graphic flowers from Time & a sentiment from Pure Florals: Chrysanthemum

I started out by masking the strips I wanted to stamp on my card base as I didn't want the washi strips to be as wide as the stamps. The flowers were stamped, fussy cut out and adhered to the card. I used foam adhesive for the 2 smaller flowers to add a bit of dimension. I then stamped the sentiment & added a rhinestone to each of the flowers to finish it off.

That's all from me today, time to tick off a few more jobs on todays 'to do' list and maybe find a little time to soak up some sunshine!

Just in case you missed the announcement yesterday, there is a SALE over at the Uniko Studio SHOP!! There is 10% off selected stamp sets and 50% off digital products AND how about FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING on all orders!! Pop over to grab yourself a bargain!

Thanks for stopping by today, I'll be back tomorrow with more to share.

Fusing Chevrons & Circles

Whoohoo for Wednesday!

Are we all having a good week? It's been a good week so far here in the studio, things ticking along nicely. The sunshine has made an appearance along with some very strong winds but today the Spring rain is upon us, a good reason to stay in doors and craft!

Anyway, I've been getting a little scientific and decided to join in on the Fusion fun! Fusion is a NEW challenge blog and there are 3 ways you can join in on the challenge, use the sketch only, use the inspiration photo only or combine the sketch & inspiration.

I decided to have a bash at fusing both the sketch and the inspiration photo. It was a bit of a challenge, but I'm super pleased with how my card turned out. You can check out the challenge HERE and the sketch & inspiration below my card...

I started out with a strip of white CS 5 cm x 14 cm and began stamping the chevron pattern first using the solid mini chevron stamp from Wonderful Washi Christmas. I had a little practice stamping it on some scrap first, so that I knew I could line it up & it would make a complete chevron line! I alternated  the lime chevrons with some circles from Background Builders: Round In Circles.

A cluster of punched stars, one stamped with the grunge circles also from Background Builders: Round In Circles and a sentiment from FONTiments - Birthday stamped vertically completed the layout nicely!

Here's the challenge...

I really enjoyed creating a complete chevron line out of a single mini chevron, so you might just see that appear on another project or two! I'm loving the colour combination of lime & black too, can you tell?!

That's all I have to share today, so it's back to designing for me today, some super stamp sets in the works! Oh, and a bit of swimming too as operation fit into wedding dress is well under way!

Until tomorrow, thank you for stopping by this little part of blogland, I hope you all have a lovely day!
