Simple Spotlight Saturday 💐

Hello & Happy Weekend,

I planned on sharing this card yesterday, but due to some technical difficulties I wasn't able to edit my photos. Technical support obtained from my husband and I am back, just need him to sort all the others I have on my list - haha!

Anyway, back to my card.

I still had Spring Botanicals Daffodil on my desk from my last card I shared using it HERE. I wanted another quick and cheerful colouring technique, so opted for the spotlight technique.

Here I trimmed a piece of printer paper to the size of my card panel. I then die cut 3 circles to use as a mask to ink through. You could choose any shape or even the Stencil -  Mid Century Modern Shapes is a good choice.

I then inked with Clementine & Honeysuckle, Buttercup & Sprout, then Oceanside and Harbour inks through each circle.

Once I was happy I stamped thee Daffodil and then added the Happy Mother's Day sentiment which is a mix of stamps from Everyday Love Sentiments and Everyday Spring Sentiments. A trio of Buttercup enamel dots finished the card for me.

One for the Mother-in-law tomorrow!

Hello March & Happy St Davids Day

Hello, Happy Friday & Happy St Davids Day.

Firstly, thank you for all the support, comments and lovely orders during February. You really made Uniko's 12th Birthday one to remember. Secondly, I need to extend my apologies for not sharing much since release day.

Along with the release orders keeping me busy and the general day to day running of Uniko. I have spent this past week doing my other main job of being mummy and nurse to a poorly Bean. Thankfully he is doing a lot better and has spent the day with Grandma and Grandad giving me a little reprieve and time to catch up.

So, I am kicking the month off with a Spring card...

With it being St Davids Day and the national flower of Wales being the Daffodil I had to incorporate Spring Botanicals Daffodil into my make.

I wasn't in the mood for detailed colouring, so my quicker alternative is using a stencil. It feels like it has been a while since I used the Layering Bauhaus Blocks, so that's what I used for my base and colour hit!

I added a little masked off border to my base card before stencilling and this married in with my top layer using the Spring Botanicals Daffodil. I adhered the layer using foam adhesive for a little dimension too.

That's all from me today, but I will back over the weekend with more to share.

Brand Ambassador Inspiration - Daffodils galore by Rahmat

Hello friends, Rahmat here with some inspirations using the Spring botanicals Daffodil

I have all watercolored projects here, 2 cards and one phone case backing.

I have a video for the first project and for the black one, I have review video for what watercolors work best on the black watercolor paper.

For this card I have used the Altenew watercolor brushes to watercolor the flowers, and used Prismacolor pencils to add details. I have used stamping and masking here. Decided to keep it one layer with a matching sentiment.

----------------

I have used Distress inks to watercolor this one.

-------

I have used Stonehenge Aqua coldpress black watercolor paper here. I have used the Gansai Tambi here for the initial watercolor layer and them the color pencils for the details. I also used a cloud stencil to ink some clouds.

If you are interested  to watch the testing of various watercolors on the black watercolor paper watch the video here: https://youtu.be/y2penjLfSDk

Thank you for stopping by, I really appreciate your kind feedback. Have a great day!

Brand Ambassador Inspiration - Daffodil experiments

Hello!

Wiebke here to show you some versatile spring flower cards!

Although Easter time passed by, there is still time for spring botanicals, right?
In my garden they just started to bloom...

Sometimes I love creating cards without a sentiment!
So I can use them for many different occasions: (easter), birthday, get well or just for you....
I only have to grab a sentiment I like to finish the card just in the moment when I need it!

You have the choice to put a small sentiment on the front on a little banner or in a block-optic or also a bigger sentiment on the inside of the card.
That's so much more flexible and you always have cards for many different occasions in "your stash".

Can you imagine how I created these beautiful Daffodil-impressions?
Cause: Uniko has stamps, stencils and dies... but no embossing-folders in their product list yet...

I created my own Embossing-panel with a stamp and 10 layers of Embossing Powder!

Jennifer McGuire showed this technique in the newest Online Card Class "Spring Card Camp".
I'm not sure who developed this technique - she herself or someone else and when it was used first time (new or old technique?)
But I think, everybody has tried to score a stamped image by tracing stamped lines with an embossing ball-stick before... that's almost the same technique, but to create thick layered images and emboss with them and a cutting machine is a much more elegant and also more accurate way to get almost the same result!

And you can repeat the embossing process again and again...
That's woth the work you have to invest with layering 10 times embossing ink and powder and heat it up every time. I recommend a stamping tool for this process - it's so much easier to get a good layering with one of them!

The first card I made with an impressed embossed flower.
I coloured the impressed lines of the flower with Zig Real brushes and added some water for a good colour gradient to the areas beside.

A still missing (small) sentiment will be placed right between the green ribbons on the right side of the flower or (when I'll use a bigger one) on the inside of the card.
I hope I can use it as a birthday card and don't need many get well cards soon. (Nobody should be in the situation to need one during the next weeks! So please stay save!)

Look how detailed the embossing is!

The second card is made with an invers impression of the embossing panel.
I softly added some Distress Oxide inks (mowed lawn and  fossilized amber) with a blending tool. The colours outside of the expressed lines make such a soft colour effect!

This card is very simple and a bit plain right now. When I know who will get it, I think I will add a banner or rectangle piece of paper with the sentiment in the left bottom third of the flower layer.
Probably with the Simply Said Blocks in one of the two Oxide Ink colours I used for the flower.

Look how detailed the embossing is - also as expression!

Hope these cards inspire you to try this technique too!

When you use an embossing powder that doesn't "want" to layer thick enough - don't give up! Use this first try, colour it as usual and make a card out of it.
And then make a second try of the layering with another embossing powder (and maybe another brand of paper).

My first one was clear powder from Ranger - and it stayed flat. Why? I still don't know!
The second try was with a white powder from efco (one of my oldest powders in the box) on a different paper. And this turned out great!
I will use it some more times to get impressions and then I will use it as "normal" embossed image on a card - so nothing is wasted! :-)

Have a good time, stay at home and healthy and be creative!

March 2019 Non Release Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

Hey & Happy Weekend!

Welcome to the March 2019 Non-Release Design Team Blog Hop & GIVEAWAY!

For those of you who are new around these parts I will explain what this post is all about...

Here at Uniko HQ it is just myself behind the screen, blogging, designing, packaging stamps & orders through the Uniko online shop, customer service and all the things in between. I *usually* release new product every other month for a number of reasons, but mainly so I can keep up with everything!

On non - release months like this month I like to set myself and the Design Team a challenge to look back at a previously released product and give it some more love.

With Spring just around the corner here in the Northern Hemisphere, I thought it would be nice to give some fresh inky love to Spring Botanicals Daffodil, Spring Botanicals Snowdrop and Stencil Bright Butterflies.

As usual we have our GIVEAWAY, so be sure to comment along the hop for your chance to win Spring Botanicals Daffodil and Stencil Bright Butterflies (an alternative prize to the same value will be offered if the winner already owns these). You have until Midnight (GMT) Saturday 16th March 2019 to comment, winner will be announced shortly after.

Let's see how the Design Team were inspired to use these revisited products...

Bev

What an inspirational hop, so many new ideas, I hope you all enjoyed it too :)

Thanks for joining in on the fun.

DT Inspiration - Blue Daffodils

Hi there friends!

It's Sarah P here sharing a little DT inspiration for you this morning which I've combined with my Less is More Challenge post HERE and our latest challenge for this fortnight where we are CASEing a Guest Designer and previous winner of our challenges; Aileen of Colour and Sparkle

Here's my card and if you read on I've shared a photo of Aileen's card.

As soon as I saw her floral beauty I knew I'd have to use something from the Uniko range, especially as there's so many elegant florals to choose from! Sticking with Aileen's colour combo of blues I've gone non-traditional using the Spring Botanicals - Daffodil set. Who says we can't have 'blue' daffodils? They might not appear in nature but I think they might catch on! What do you say?

I started out by stamping the daffodils in Versamark ink and heat embossing with Hero Arts white embossing powder before water colouring with my Zig Clear Brush Pens. The die-cut sentiment is from Waffle Flower and I've layered it 3 times for added dimension and coated both the flowers and the sentiment in Tonic Clear shimmer pen.

If you'd like to have a go at CASEing Aileen's card and playing along at the Less is More challenge  then you have until 10pm BST on Friday, 13th April 2018 and the link you need is HERE

Thanks for calling by the blog today and I hope you feel inspired.

CAS Colours & Sketches #265 - Sketch

Hey!

Can you believe March is nearly over? This year is flying by! Our hostess this month over at CAS Colours & Sketches has been Fiona and we've enjoyed wonderful inspiring challenges. This weeks sketch HERE is no exception.

This week started off nice, with some lovely Spring sunshine. It reminded me of a sentiment in the recently released Spring Botanicals Daffodil clear stamp set. So I decided to focus my card using the sketch around the sentiment...

The pennant feature in the sketch reminded me of a currently retired Uniko clear stamp set called Wonderful Washi. You can view the set and cards HERE on Pinterest. The set was launched when Washi tape was a huge trend. I decided to dust off one of the stamps, masked my layer and stamped it using my MISTI.

The Daffodil flower head is one that I have had stamped and watercolored for some time and all it required was fussy cutting!

Super simple and short and sweet from me today, but I hope I have inspired you to join in on the challenge?! If you need a little more inspiration, pop on over HERE to see what the CC&S Design Team have created.

Thanks for stopping by!
