What Color are Hypocrites? Green, of Course.

Hoo boy. Lots of stupid here...

Shell protesters damage West Seattle dive park habitat
The activists protesting Shell oil and the impacts drilling has on the environment left behind material used to anchor their protest barge in a popular dive park.

The barge known as "The People's Platform" was parked over the dive park near Seacrest Park during last weekend's protest of Shell and the Polar Pioneer oil rig.
First, take a look at the picture accompanying the article. What jumps out at you?

If you answered "Jay, they're protesting Shell Oil while using large products manufactured from petroleum", give yourself a cookie.

So, as if it wasn't enough to be a bunch of giant hypocritical @$$holes (We hate Big Oil! But we love the stuff they make from it!), they thoroughly trashed the chosen venue. Well-played, oh great stewards of the environment. In your quest to demonize a legitimate company, you managed to create eco-havoc. You destroyed that which you claim to love, all the while showing your hypocritical @$$.

It's not every day we get a reminder just how feckless and clueless the anti-capitalist left really is. I mean, really, if you were looking for a better microcosm for the Green movement, it'd be hard to find one better than this story. They *claim* they want to save the environment, except that their actions belie that 100%. Kinda like pro-Green celebrities and politicians taking private jets to "save the environment" conferences, no?

It's not just the big shots that are clueless hypocrites; it's the entire movement...

That is all.

So, Now It's NOT Racist?

I'm confused.

Group rips off Gadsden flag in pro-ObamaCare bumper sticker
A President Obama-aligned group trying to drum up enrollment for ObamaCare is giving away bumper stickers that spoof the Gadsden flag -- a symbol informally adopted by the Tea Party movement and, for that reason, long derided by Democrats.

The stickers are a marketing ploy by Organizing for Action, an advocacy group which helped Obama win reelection in 2012. The stickers feature a doctor's stethoscope, instead of the coiled rattlesnake on the original golden-colored flag.
So, for the past five years the Gadsden flag - unofficially adopted by the Tea Party - has been this HORRIBLE ZOMG RACIST symbol that those awful Teabaggers were rallying around. It's so horrible that it's now being used...

...to hawk Obamacare.

Yeah. They really did.

The Gadsden flag, the Revolutionary War symbol of American rebellion and individualism, has been captured, hacked, and misappropriated as some twisted symbol of ObamaCare, the government mandated forced on the American people at gunpoint that has cost jobs, doctors, and access to top tier health care itself.

One bad thing about Virginia - I can *hear* many of the Founding Fathers turning in their graves... It's a loud hum.

That is all.

It's Irony On Top Of Irony Today!

SMDH...

Fort Collins man found guilty of arson
More than a month after his latest trial began, Benjamin Gilmore was found guilty on Friday of deliberately igniting the 2011 Penny Flats fire.

Gilmore, 31, had been on trial since Sept. 16. The jury found him guilty of arson, burglary and criminal mischief, but not guilty on four other counts, including attempted murder.
Yeah, there's more tolerance and peaceful protest that we've come to expect from the OccupySomething crowd. Want to bring people to your side? Commit arson that cause some $10 million in property damage! Because, you know, nothing says "peaceful demonstration" like burning a building with people inside it. That's tolerance right there!

You know what the best part of this story is? It's the heaping helping of hypocrisy on top of the destruction of private property and attempted murder:
According to archive accounts of the incident, a key piece of evidence at the time of Gilmore's arrest was a Rolex watch bearing his name that had been found in the debris near the scaffolding used to access the start of the fire.
Emphasis mine. Because, you know, nothing says "struggling worker being downtrodden by the wealthiest 1%" like a watch that cost more than most people's rent, right? I mean, what else is this guy leaving around? Faberge eggs at all of his assaults in the Occupy camp? Maybe he drops a Tiffany necklace whenever he defecates on a police car?

Yeah, Sparky, way to show the people you're one of the little guys wearing a watch that costs a grand or more while committing felonies...

That is all.

So, Let Me Get This Straight...

Obama: Syrian govt carried out chemical attack
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama on Wednesday declared unequivocally that the United States has "concluded" that the Syrian government carried out a deadly chemical weapons attack on civilians. Yet U.S. intelligence officials say questions remain about whether the attack could be linked to Syrian President Bashar Assad or high officials in his government.

Obama did not present any direct evidence to back up his assertion that the Syrian government bears responsibility for the attack. U.S. officials were searching for additional intelligence to bolster the case for a strike against Assad's military infrastructure and rule out the possibility that a rogue element of the Syrian military could have used the weapons on its own authority.
Wasn't this the same President who, as a Senator, claimed that Bush didn't have the authority to launch strikes against a sovereign nation? Oh, yeah, he was:
“The president does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation,” Obama said in 2008.
There's also the inconvenient question of where Syria got those chemical weapons. Many believe they got them from Iraq, who moved them across the border in the run-up to the US-led resumption of hostilities after inspectors were repeatedly denied access.

So, to recap:

Barack Obama wants to unilaterally and without Congressional approval launch bombing raids in Syria over the Syrian government using chemical weapons they got from Iraq - that Obama and his left-wing allies claim never existed - even though Obama himself has stated the President does not have the power to launch an attack on a country that does not pose an imminent threat to the US. During this time of economic uncertainty, with DOD sequestration and other cutbacks, we are to believe that military action costing millions of dollars is necessary against a country that poses no threat to the US or even its own neighbors. And we're going to launch this attack because they're using chemical weapons that we said didn't exist. Oh, and we've argued against doing THIS EXACT THING when the other party was in power.

Remember, it's only confusing if you expect consistency or logic from the left. Or, you know, anything even remotely resembling journalism, either. All we have heard from the news from Syria is "ZOMG CHEMICAL WEAPONS". We are treated to headline after headline like "Obama: Strike Would Send 'Strong Message'" - compare and contrast that to the headlines from 2003, if you dare. I know it's too much to ask for consistency from the left. It would be just amazing, though, if anyone outside of Breitbart would point out the GLARING HYPOCRISY from the left all the way up to the President and Vice President.

And while I'm dreaming, I'd like ammo back to 2004 levels and prices...

That is all.

LOST. THEIR. DAMN. MINDS.

I am stunned. Not shocked, mind you, but stunned...

Tamerlan Tsarnaev memorialized at Mayors Against Illegal Guns rally
An event held yesterday in Concord, New Hampshire by out-of-state supporters of Mike Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns movement turned ugly when a 2nd Amendment activist (who was protesting the event) was arrested. But buried in the Union Leader story was an arguably more interesting nugget.
During the rally, supporters of the Mayors Against Illegal Guns read the names of those “killed with guns” since the Dec. 14 Newtown shootings — and Boston bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev’s name was memorialized among the names of the dead. (Tsarnaev, of course, was killed in a police shootout.)
Someone, please, tell me that this is incorrect. Please tell me that the MAIG - a group that has more members in jail than any state's 2A advocacy group - didn't actually list Tamerlan Tsarnaev as someone killed by gun violence. Please. Please tell me that they're not this deluded - or think we are that f**king stupid. I mean, say what you want, the guy shot at cops and attempted to blow them up with homemade explosives. In any damn country in the world that'll get you killed by the police.

Were they just padding their numbers? Do they collect raw lists of names of everyone killed by a firearm regardless of cause? Did NO ONE in the entire group stop for one second and think that, gee, maybe we might leave off the name of a terrorist from this list? It's not like "Tamerlan Tsarnaev" is a common name, either - this wasn't John Smith here. That no one caught it means they're grossly incompetent; if, instead, they decided to include it anyways, they are deceitful and downright evil.

You really have to wonder, don't you? "Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by incompetence" and all that - it is quite possible that someone was handed a giant list of names of people killed since Newtown and told to cull all the "gunshot" or "firearm" cause of death, and no one even looked at the list. With this group, though, we cannot rule out malice. These are people that will straight-up lie if it suits them - remember, they think they're doing something for the nebulous "greater good". It would not surprise me in the least if they got a list of names of people killed, thought it wasn't shocking enough, so they tossed in police shootings as well.

Lumping in a terrorist killed while actively trying to murder police officers with victims of predatory violence is simply inexcusable. Is MAIG lumping in every person killed by a police officer? Do their numbers for "gun violence" include all people shot by police? You know, like the 9 bystanders shot by NYPD at the Empire State building or the two women gunned down by the LAPD? How dare they include people shot by police officers when every single bill proposed with their blessing has exclusions for law enforcement. Raw, naked hypocrisy on display here, folks.

Not that we would expect anything else from these jackals, mind you.

That is all.

Not A War, But Does This At Least Count As A Skirmish?

Liberals love to pooh-pooh the idea that there is a "war on Christmas" - and they're right; it's certainly not that coordinated nor serious. But it's not hard to see why some folks would view it that way, especially in light of stories like this:

Mansfield School Cancels Holiday Concert After Parent Complaints
MANSFIELD (CBS) – A holiday tradition in Mansfield has come to an end. School leaders at Jordan/Jackson elementary have chosen not to have the regular winter concert, at least as it has been done in recent years.
Typically, the show features the school’s 4th and 5th graders classes singing traditional holiday tunes that celebrated the winter season, Christmas, Hanukkah, and Kwanzaa.
But the school’s principal told the local paper that after last year’s show, several moms and dads complained about the religious content of the program. So the school made the call to replace the holiday tunes with a Martin Luther King, Jr.-themed performance next month.
Okay, I'll freely admit that I don't know just how much "religious content" the program may or may not have had. It's hard to imagine, though, that if they're taking the steps of including Chanukkah and Kwanzaa, that it was terribly *religious* per se; it's far more likely that they barely touch on the religious underpinnings and concentrate on the rituals of all the major celebrations.

Of course, that's not good enough for everyone, so in true "zero tolerance" fashion, they just canceled the whole thing. Far better that the entire program be scrapped - and all the work the kids and teachers put in go to waste - than for someone's anti-religion skivvies get all in a bunch. It would be interesting to know just how many people complained - they say "several", but I'd be shocked if it were more than 2 or 3.

I wonder, too, if the parents that complained work on Christmas. If the holiday so offends them, then they're at their job despite being given the day off, right? I mean, taking the free day off when they don't celebrate, well, that's practically stealing, isn't it? Plain and simple, if you make such a stink that your kids's school cancels their "Holiday Concert" and your lazy ass isn't at your desk at 8:00 AM on December 25th, you are a hypocrite, plain and simple.

Or, in a completely non-religious manner, a Grinch.

That is all.

Excellent Question...

An Unanswered Question From Last Night’s Debate
If bayonets are obsolete, why is a bayonet lug something that makes a rifle an "assault weapon"?
(thanks to Robb Allen in chat for the link)

I also noticed something: Obama referred to Russia as not being a threat, then some 20 minutes later said that Russia was one of the countries that we needed to be mindful of when taking action in the Asian theater. The rhetoric is noticeably two-faced - on the one hand, Obama wants us to believe that Russia is no longer a credible threat to America; on the other hand, we need to watch them when we are thinking about action in that part of the world?

It's the same with "assault weapons" - Obama mentioned reinstating the Assault Weapons Ban in the last debate - and then immediately went on to talk about "cheap handguns". Then he makes the off-handed comment about bayonets and horses being obsolete - neglecting the simple fact that ZOMG BAYONET LUG is one of the features that makes a standard semi-automatic rifle a ZOMG ASSAULT WEAPON. It's either obsolete or it's a ZOMG DEADLY FEATURE; you can't have it both ways.

Well, unless you have a (D) after your name, that is...

That is all.

Hypocrite Much?

So, leftists are all butthurt because a business owner sent an e-mail to his employees telling them that voting for Obama would be bad for business.

Okay, I can grok this. While you are certainly free to work for whomever you choose, in today's economy you want to keep your job. It's human nature. No one wants to rock the boat and be out looking for work, even in allegedly under 8% unemployment. I can understand how and why employees might be intimidated, and no, it's not a good thing.

But how much do you want to bet that the people with their panties in a bunch over this see no problem whatsoever with a union steward telling the union members who they should vote for? Like, say, in Boston where the mayor of the city met with union leaders to get the word out for Fauxcahontas? Or, you know, in PA, once the Senator in question changed parties? Or school employees in Michigan.

Let's recap: Private business owner sends an e-mail to his employees hinting that they should vote a certain way? OUTRAGEOUS! Union heads actively canvassing their members to vote for a certain candidate or political party - even when they're supposed to be doing their job? Why, that's just part of their function. No, there's certainly no coercion in a union steward - the person responsible for backing you in a fight against management - telling you that you *must* vote for Candidate X or Political Party Y.

Remember, it's only an outrage when the other guys do it!

That is all.

A Surprising Turn of Events...

By now, just about everyone has seen the video of the NC teacher freaking out over criticism of President Obama. Number 1 blogdaughter Nancy sends in a followup to this story that, quite frankly, is surprising:

NC teacher reportedly suspended after telling student not to criticize Obama
A North Carolina high school teacher reportedly has been suspended with pay after she was captured on video shouting at a student who questioned President Obama and suggesting he could be arrested for criticizing a sitting president.

The Salisbury Post reported Monday that district school officials suspended the teacher in the course of their investigation into the incident.

She was suspended? That is pretty surprising. Now, granted, she was suspended with pay, so basically she got a paid vacation for screaming, intimidating, and basically berating a student over their political beliefs. I mean, you can hear other students laughing at this teacher while the student she berates tries to get a straight answer out of her - this woman has no control whatsoever over her classroom.

I also wonder what she felt about "disrespecting the President of the United States" when it was George Bush in office...

That is all.

Ignore the Man Behind The Curtain...

Media Matters enjoyed fundraising surge at start of Obama administration
Media Matters enjoyed a surge in fundraising after the start of the Obama administration -- nearly doubling its revenues in the first two years of the president's administration, according to tax returns obtained by The Daily Caller.

The Daily Caller found that Media Matters and its lobbying arm Media Matters Action Network raked in $14.6 million in 2010, compared with $8.1 million in 2009.
Hey, what's a $6.5 million increase in one year along friends, right? I'm sure this is mere coincidence, nothing untoward, certainly not like that evil Dick Cheney making million$ off his Halliburton stock while they rewarded Halliburton company. Oh, sure, they tried to point out that Cheney's stock options were set long before Halliburton even bid, but that's just evil Chimpy McBushhitler and his evil plan.

What got me most of all was this:
The 2010 returns, The Daily Caller reported, also showed founder David Brock was paid about $300,000. Seven staff members earned more than $100,000, with one blogger making more than $119,000.
Emphasis mine.

What in blue blazes am I doing wrong? Here I am doing this for free and some Media Matters blogger is making six figures? I am in the wrong business, I guess - nothing but my wheelbarrows of cash from the NRA... It's interesting to note that Media Matters is awash in cash in this time of rough economy - apparently fatcat Demo donors are unaffected by the downturn...

No, wait, I take that back. What really got me most of all was this:
Incidentally, the Daily Caller reported earlier in the week that Brock's assistant sometimes carried a gun to events to protect his boss despite laws in Washington, D.C., prohibiting concealed carry.
Yep. Another liberal hypocrite. These people would like nothing better than to see the Second Amendment repealed and all guns collected up and destroyed - except for the guns their bodyguards carry, that is. Liberal lion Ted Kennedy tried to ban .30-30 ammunition because it could defeat body armor - yet never refused his Secret Service detail. Rosie O'Donnell thinks that gun owners have a mental illness - oh, except for her armed bodyguards that she wants to be able to carry their guns into her kids' school. And now David Brock's assistant is carrying a firearm illegally into DC, the very heart of the gun control beast.

Again, all animals are equal - but liberals think they're more equal than the rest of us.

That is all.

Ah, Those Crazy Grassroots OWS Folks!

Les sends in this interesting little tidbit:

House Oversight Chairman Calls for Probe into ACORN Role in Occupy Wall Street
House Oversight Committee Chairman Darrell Issa is calling for an investigation into allegations that ACORN-related group New York Communities for Change "engaged in fraud through its participation in the Occupy Wall Street protests."

In a letter dated Monday, Issa, R-Calif., called for U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch of the Eastern District of New York to launch a probe into allegations first reported by FoxNews.com that NYCC may have "solicited donations from union members under false pretenses and misappropriated those funds to support the protesters."
They're really living dangerously if they're ripping off unions - that's a quick route to becoming part of the next sporting complex... The funny - and I don't mean '"ha-ha" funny - part is that there are still folks out there (mainstream media, I'm looking at yoooouuuuuu) that will claim with a straight face that the OccupySomething crowd is 100% grassroots and unaffiliated with any political affiliation or ideology. But those inconvenient facts keep getting in the way!

Now, what would really be a hoot would be to see this story get the same amount of coverage as, say, twenty year old reports of Herman Cain acting boorishly...

That is all.

They Don't Call Him "Governor Clueless" For Nothin'!

Wow. Barron sent me this story. I cannot believe "Cadillac Deval" is this dense.

Gov. Patrick Seen Riding In SUV During “Car-Free Week”

BOSTON (CBS) – Governor Deval Patrick did walk to a morning event on Beacon Hill — a stone’s throw from the Statehouse — but was quick to sheepishly admit that he probably hadn’t set the best example earlier in the day.

...

He’s talking about video shot by WBZ of Mr. Patrick leaving his Milton home this morning with his assigned state trooper at the wheel for the routine drive into work in his SUV.

Not just any SUV, either; it's a Chevy Tahoe, a full-sized, Gaia-raping monster that gets close to single digit gas mileage in the stop-and-go of Boston traffic. The irony, she is thick. I think what I like best is that Coupe Deval just laughs it off: "I carpooled with my trooper" - are you kidding me? Look, it's understandable that Patrick has security issues, etc. and as such can't just hop on the Red Line like everyone else (even though there's a stop less than a block from his house).

But why not telecommute for the week? Wouldn't that have struck a great balance for the governor? With the state of modern telecommunication being what it is, wouldn't it have been great to see Patrick holding a Skype videoconference rather than take his SUV into work? Save a few gallons of gas, grow a tree, that sort of feel-good BS that plays well in Cambridge?

Instead, we get Governor Vapid telling us that we need to do this to save the environment while he takes his full-sized, nine passenger SUV into work with one other person. Taking public transportation is a great idea in Patrick's world - as long as he's not part of it. It sounds suspiciously like the global warming conference in Copenhagen that set records for the number of private jets flying in and limousines rented...

But hey, at least he didn't have an alleged affair in 1987! That would certainly be news, right?

That is all.

Companion Piece...

Going along with the "researchers who perform vivisection should have their children murdered" lunacy is this bit of environmentalism sent in by Hunter:

Sitting in the Dark

Forget the World's Fair, we now have a new way to celebrate human accomplishment. Instead of going to see a vision of the future, we turn off the lights and sit in the dark for an hour. Earth Hour shows how far we have come from celebrating human accomplishment to celebrating the lack of accomplishment. For all its pretentious activism, environmentalism is a movement that promotes inaction. Don't build, don't create and don't do-- are its commandments. Turn off the lights and feel good about how much you aren't doing right now. Slacker morality at its best.

Yeah, that about sums it up. The author goes into far more detail on the insipid evil behind the environmental movement - or, as we should rightfully call it, the anti-humanity movement. Much like the mullahs preaching the 72 virgins and heaven in the afterlife for those who die while killing infidels - yet never strapping on the semtex underoos themselves - one has to notice that the leaders of the "Green" movement are hardly practicing what they preach.

Al Gore has his mansion, houseboat, and private jet. Paul McCartney had his "green" limo flown in from Japan. The environmental summit in Copenhagen saw "leaders" in the allegedly pro-environmental movement flying in on their private jets. Basically, "going green" - using less resources, less fossil fuels, less everything - this is an idea for other people to implement. They're not about to change their extravagant lifestyles for some silly planet!

It's when the message starts turning more dark that things get worrisome. The 10/10 campaign comes to mind, with those who don't wish to participate in "green" efforts being violently and ruthlessly disposed of - up to and including school children. The folks behind the ad claim that it was "shock value" designed to get people talking about it, but given the propensity for inciting violence inherent to the anti-capitalism crowd, one can't be certain.

Be aware, and make sure you're well-stocked on precious metals...

That is all.

Karma Is A Harsh Mistress...

Blogson Merlin, apparently having seen that my Irony-meter was on the fritz after my global warming post, sent the following link:

Irony Alert: Lawyers For Julian Assange Outraged That Details About His Sex Life Were Leaked

which in turn has this link:

Lawyers cry foul over leak of Julian Assange sex-case papers
Incriminating police files were published in the British newspaper that has used him as its source for hundreds of leaked US embassy cables.

In a move that surprised many of Mr Assange's closest supporters on Saturday, The Guardian newspaper published previously unseen police documents that accused Mr Assange in graphic detail of sexually assaulting two Swedish women. One witness is said to have stated: "Not only had it been the world's worst screw, it had also been violent."

Oh, irony, you are such a fickle bitch. The sheer unmitigated hypocrisy is strong on this one - the dude at the center of the Wikileaks controversy, the one who has assumed the mantle of cherished revealer of secrets, is whining about his secrets... being revealed. Um, yeah. What I'm trying to gauge here is exactly why this surprises him - did he really think that his extracurricular exploits would remain hidden once the powers-that-be got all riled up? Or did he figure that he was untouchable, that no one would dare go after him?

I mean, when you're pushing 40 and you're aping Legolas for a look and using your status as iconic hipster to lure 20-somethings back to your apartment, it's bound to catch up with you eventually...

That is all.

Hypocrisy, Thy Name is Mumbles...

City switches gears to curb parking pains
City officials fed up with inconsiderate parking space hogs are moving to ratchet up the cost of tickets until it hurts, the Hub’s traffic czar said.

“If you don’t want to be squeezed, don’t park illegally,” said city Transportation Secretary Thomas Tinlin.

Under the Menino administration plan, which gets a hearing before the City Council today, depositing your car in a no-parking zone would soar to $25 from $15 and clinging to a space beyond the alloted [sic] time limit also climbs to $25 from $15.

That would be the same Menino administration that talked about installing caps against "price gouging" for people charging triple digit fees for parking around Fenway. Apparently when the city of Boston does it, it's "changing behavior", but when a private citizen or enterprise does it, it's gouging. In both cases the action is voluntary - in the case of the ticket, someone chooses to break the law; in the case of parking, they choose to pay outrageous fees to park.

But in one case the local .gov gets a piece of the action, in which case angels smile and all is well - rather than a business benefiting from people being lazy...

That is all.

Well, It Is Named New ENGLAND...

Watching from a distance
For years, police around the country have used cameras to catch speeding drivers. In Boston, police have installed a system that detects the discharge of firearms in parts of the city. And at the city’s Real Time Crime Center, police officers and civilians use camera feeds to monitor criminal activity on city streets.

Now, in and around Boston, the federal government is financing the installation of security cameras under bridges, on thoroughfares, and around bustling shopping districts as part of an antiterrorism campaign.

Here's hoping they can stop the false flags of Lite-Brite advertising...

Now, I wonder something. Aside from revenue brought in by red light cameras, have these surveillance cameras done a damn thing towards reducing crime in Boston - or any other - neighborhoods? Is there any sort of correlation between the installation of these cameras and any tangible reduction in crime? Or are we permitting greater and greater intrusions into our liberties for no benefit whatsoever?

What irked me was this:
“We’re building a system that creates a net of surveillance over everyone in the Boston metropolitan region,’’ said Carol Rose, executive director of the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts. “It’s a net of surveillance that allows local police and federal agents to monitor and record our every movement without any oversight of how the information will be used now or in the long run.’’

Welcome to my world, Carol. Where the hell is the ACLU in MA when the local government runs roughshod over my Second Amendment rights? Y'all get all bent out of shape over affronts - real or perceived - to our First Amendment rights - which is great - but when it comes to the next amendment on the list y'all are curiously silent. You might want to think about changing your name to the ASCLU - American (Some) Civil Liberties Union... Your concern for our privacy is noted, yet rings strangely hollow as I submit my fingerprints so I can exercise my rights...

As for the cameras, all I can ask is, my fellow frogs, does this water seem a littler warmer to you today?

That is all.

The Stupid, It Burns...

Man accused of death threats against U.S. senator
(CNN) -- Police arrested a 64-year-old Washington state resident who authorities say made death threats against Democratic Sen. Patty Murray of Washington, the Justice Department announced Tuesday.

A department statement said the suspect, identified as Charles Alan Wilson of Selah, Washington, made the threats in phone messages to Murray's office between March 22 and April 4.

YOU. ARE. NOT. HELPING. Not only that, get the hell off our side. If you can't abide by the rules, STFU and stop helping the goddamned socialists by providing them with handy examples of rightwing jackasses. Phoning in a death threat is about the dumbest thing you can do short of showing up outside her office with a chloroform-soaked rag, okay?

That's not the only thing that's torqued my gears, though. There's also this little bit of "some animals are more equal than others":
Threatening a federal official is punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, the Justice Department statement said.

Are you kidding me? By virtue of being a Fed, there's penalties above and beyond mere assault? Because that's all this is, so far: assault. But because Murray is a federal official, it's somehow worth more jail time? Extra punishment for threatening the ruling elites?

I swear to G-d, some days I half-expect the media to break out into bleats of "Four legs good, two legs better"...

That is all.

Guess The Globe Didn't Get The Memo...

You know, the memo about the release of data, albeit through circuitous channels, of the "science" behind global warming? The one that talked about how they falsified data on a grand scale? Yeah, they missed it, because their big "science" story of the day is this one:

Effects of warming have worsened since Kyoto

WASHINGTON - Since the 1997 international accord to fight global warming, climate change has worsened and accelerated, beyond some of the grimmest of warnings made then.

As the world has talked for a dozen years about what to do next, new ship passages have opened through the once frozen summer sea ice of the Arctic. In Greenland and Antarctica, ice sheets have lost trillions of tons of ice. Mountain glaciers in Europe, South America, Asia, and Africa have been shrinking faster than before.

ZOMG! We're all gonna die! Global Climate change is going to render the planet uninhabitable in five years um ten years err 20 years some indeterminate point in the future! Hockey Stick! Science is settled! Kyoto!

I loved this line:
When the US Senate balked at the Kyoto Protocol and President George W. Bush withdrew from it, that meant that the top three carbon polluters - the United States, China, and India - were not part of the pact’s emission reductions.

See what they did there? They very conveniently left out the fact that the US Senate "balked" - the vote was, what, 97-0 against signing Kyoto - in 1997, nearly four years before George Bush took office. Interesting, is it not?

If the stakes weren't so high, I'd have to laugh at how comical this is. In the wake of the single biggest scandal to rock the anthropogenic global warming community, there's nary a word on the dissemination of the "data" and the GIANT GAPING HOLES and OUTRIGHT FRAUD engaged therein. Cherrypicking data that doesn't fit, eliminating discussions that don't produce the right results, basically ignoring the entire scientific method to get the results they want.

And they want to kneecap the US industrial and commercial engine based on this junk science? I don't theenk so...

HYPOCRISY METER... PEGGED...

NOW slams Letterman for sexual liaisons with staff members
WASHINGTON (CNN) — The National Organization for Women wants CBS to recognize that David Letterman’s self-proclaimed sexual behavior with some members of his staff creates a “toxic environment” in his workplace.

“Most women can attest to the fact that many workplaces are plagued with inappropriate behavior by men in power,” the advocacy group said on Tuesday. “The latest Letterman controversy sheds new light on the widespread objectification of women in the workplace.”

I guess they figure that since more than eight years have passed since they last carried water for Bill Clinton, they can openly attack men in positions of power who have sex with their subordinates again. For eight years they were curiously silent as accuser after accuser surfaced, each with a similar tale of humiliation and predation at the hands of Governor or President Clinton. They remained silent even when the stained blue dress forced the issue of inappropriate relationships with underlings.

And now they want their credibility back? Nope. Sorry. It doesn't work that way folks. You either stand for ALL women - conservative, liberal, or otherwise - or you shut the hell up and fold the damn tent. For eight long years NOW picked and chose which victims to believe and which victims to ignore, allowing some to fall by the wayside as political allies of the president assailed their character. They allowed the political leanings of the victim - and the accused - dictate their response. For that, they deserve to be consigned to the remaindered bin of the victim's advocacy groups.

Sorry gals. You threw away whatever moral high ground you might have had with "Drag a $100 bill through a trailer park".

That is all.
