The base for the card is Night of Navy card stock. The background is Bordering Blue cs stamped with the journal image from the set, using Night of Navy ink. The trim underneath the image layer is a small strip of "Travel Journal" DSP which I ran through the crimper and adhered to Night of Navy cs. I adhered the trim to the background and adhered the background to the card.
The ship is from "The Open Sea" digital kit. I needed a ship that was much larger than the rubber stamp. I enlarged it in "My Digital Studio" and printed it on the script writing paper from "Presto Patterns" DSP. I printed the compass on Whisper White, but reduced the size so it could be used as a small embellishement. Night of Navy was sponged for the ocean, Bashful Blue was sponged for the sky and Creamy Caramel was sponged for the sails. I used a Close to Cocoa marker to color in the ship. The edges were lightly sponged with Night of Navy.
Night of Navy cs was used for the mat under the ship. The edges of the mat were distressed. The corners of the image and mat were punched with the ticket punch. The image was then adhered to the cs. The greeting is from the "Pedaling Past" stamp set, stamped in Night of Navy and punched out with the Decorative Label punch. The edges were sponged with Night of Navy. The greeting was adhered to the background. Dimensionals were added to the matted image and it was placed on the card.
The compass was punched out with a small circle punch ( I used the center of the large cog on the Cog Punch). The edges were sponged with Night of Navy ink and a very small rhinestone was added to the center. The compass was placed on the card using 2 mini glue dots double stacked so it would be raised up a bit.
All the while making this card, I was thinking about the trip that Claudia was going to be taking. This next card came to me while I was making the other one. I had to make it for her.
In a nutshell, the backgroud DSP (Travel Journal) was printed in My Digital Studio. The State of Utah was cut with the Cricut (black for Stampin' Up!), stamped with Very Vanilla craft ink using the "Sanded" background stamp. A rhinestone was placed on the location of Stampin' Up!(hard to see in the picture). The plane is from the "Plane & Simple" Stamp set. Not quite Navy and Pumpkin pie were the card stock and ink colors used. I think you can figure out the rest.
