Puppy Face

The other day I wanted to place a little Thank You note in a pet clients home and got inspired to make a shaped card like a puppy face

Of course I had a last minute idea... I wanted the nose to look wet. So I applied crystal effects over it. But I didn't have enough time to wait for it to dry before I had run and let her dogs out. So the picture below shows the nose still milky

But you can already tell how shiny it will be! For the inside of the card, I've cut a smaller heart and stamped "Thank You" on it and signed... BTW, the back is all covered with the same shapes as on front so you don't see the half cut shapes... looks a little more finished that way.

And in case you would like to see what handsome little feller inspired me... meet Guinness:

Here are the supplies used today... and feel free to scroll down to the bottom left, there is a printable supply list available as well

Use those dies with fabric!

Some of you may know that I really don’t like to sew. I am not good at it and don’t have patience with it. But last month I was sort of forced to do a sewing project.

See, the girls (my dogs Annie and Galena – yes laugh at me…) had a photo shoot scheduled and I had ordered some pretty special bling collars for them. The lady promised me she can make and get them to me on time… But to make a long story short she totally ignored me and failed to deliver (so I won’t be recommending her business EVER – that’s what I get for trying out someone new)…

Since I had my mind set on bling collars I set out to make some fake ones myself.

I used tough elastics and made a fabric cover and sewed a snap on so it would be easy to put on/take off.

And because I am not good at this as I said, I needed something to cover the spot where the snap was sewn on. HAH – Stampin’ Up! came to the rescue! I used dies and the bigshot.. I cut several layers of the fabric in one run because it was a thick die!

I know the “faux collars” are not perfect by any means, but I am pretty proud of how they turned out and served the purpose well enough Winking smile

Here is a collage of some of the proofs we liked a lot and we already put in our order with the photographer – can’t wait to get them!

Don’t forget you can use your dies for projects like this! You can always add some to your collection from my online store!

Have fun crafting!

Galena’s gifts for her doggie friends

Before Christmas we had another meeting with our furry friends, the group called “Great Danes and friends at play” and Galena had asked me nicely to make some treats for her friends for Christmas. Well of course I had to help her out.

She used her allowance and bought some “candy cane” chewies for them. So I set out and made some cute holders!

Quick info: I used a tag shape in the software and added 2 cut lines in the center so the treat could be slit through and held. The paw cut out is from MDS… and then of course, I stamped a greeting! So you see, it all can be combined Winking smile

And I thought I’d share a pic from that day with you that shows her with some of her friends

and that was just a part of the group. They always have so much fun!

Pet Sympathy Card

As some of you know I also work for “Pets at Home” and go into pet owners homes to take care of their pets. I’ve been going to one place since the 26th…twice a day, with 2 dogs. And sadly a couple days ago, one of the dogs passed away during the night and I found her in her bed. It was not only sad in general, but I felt so bad that it happened on our watch and Sandra had to inform the owner before they come back (which is tonight). Macie was an older dog with several health problems, but you still don’t ever expect these things to happen.

Of course I couldn’t end the visit without leaving a sympathy card there.

dog paw

I apologize for the bad quality of the photo, but I took it in a rush before I ran out the door.

I am not going to list the prizes and all since I think it might not be very respectful.

I’ll only tell you quick that I used the hearts framelits (2nd smallest one) and the small oval punch to make the paw. The square needs to be 3 1/8” to make it work.

Please let me know if you have questions regarding this card… But now go seek out your furry kids and give them some extra loving.

Hugs!

Where was I updates and swap winner

Well you must have thought I’ve gone missing. Not really… only online for a bit. I still held all of my events, just didn’t find the time and energy to blog lots.

I normally don’t share lots of family or pet pictures here since I want you to find creative inspiration here. But I think I need to show you the reason for my MIA. In August we added a new member to our family. Of course a furry one! She is a Great Dane Puppy, she was only 3 month then. Meet Galena:

IMAG0832

This is when we brought her home and she was only 29 lbs.

Now she is 5 months old and just a tad bigger:

galena 5 month

She is growing at a nice and steady pace and is 50 lbs. now… She is going to double that I think… She is doing very well and has made lots of friends amongst the local stamping friends already.

Now I am not here to brag on her (maybe a little *hehehe*), just wanted to share that the puppy training has kept me a little busy.

While I have your attention, I wanted to tell you all that the voting for the customer swap cards concluded and Joan B. from the Thursday Group won again this month. This was her winning entry:

Congrats to Joan and thanks to all who’ve placed their votes!

Come back tomorrow and see the Technique Cards and last month’s Stamp-a-Stack… Lots of catching up to do here!

It’s good to be a dog

… at least at the Perry house. And that even after one had surgery. Some (or most) of you know that Sam had surgery last week, which he came thought wonderfully! Today I wanted to share with you how much he is loved even by my stampers.

He received his very own “Get Well” Card from Norma’s cats!

Here is the card that the cats told Norma to make so they could send it to Sam:

normas card

Not only did they think about the card, but also send a bone for Sam and another for Annie so she would not feel left out. Thanks so much for being so thoughtful, guys!

Here are a few shots of the dogs with their new treats:

dont take my bone

Sam seems to be saying “Don’t take my bone!” And Annie of course, is going to town on hers.

Big Yawn… protecting a bone must be just as tough as chewing one?!

Sam: “Let’s take a nap, BUT I’ll keep a paw on it, because I don’t trust HER”  (aka Annie)

Stamp Club Swap Cards and a Pillow

Today I am going to share the cards created by my stamp club ladies for the September swap!
A sketch was given, and the other requirement was to have an embellishment on the card…

Here is the sketch:

Here is what the ladies came up with:

Don’t you agree, that the cards are just great!? Thanks so much for playing along!

I just couldn't resist to show you a sweet picture of my furry children... Annie just absolutely has to touch someone... and if no human is available she uses Sam as her pillow:

Meet "Piggie"

Before you scroll down to Today's post, I wanted to let you know that I've added some more pictures to Sunday's post. So go check those out... I don't want to bore you with dog pictures!

And then for the dog lovers and Annie fans, you can go on and keep reading.

So some of you may know how much my Annie loves to chew... Before I left for convention I had bought her a new toy at Pet's Mart. I selected it only because it was said to be very sturdy and it was marked way down.

Meet Piggie:

HPIM1287

As you can tell, Annie is not so sure that Piggie can be her friend... She was only peeking around the corner.

HPIM1289

Sam was not interested at all, and Maggie came to check her out and decided "Nah, no living thing..."

So that made Annie a little more curious:

HPIM1290

But still only a closer look... When I moved to Pig closer to her... she took off...

HPIM1291

... for a save "stare down" :-)  Too funny!

But after a while, she decided it was time to get brave and started to play...

HPIM1292

Went straight for the ears!

HPIM1293

Now she has been playing with it for several weeks and I have to report that the ears are gone and one of the legs too... Poor Piggie :-)   But at least she has FUN!

Enjoy the rest of the day...

The Gnome Saga

O.K. this is a post for my friends that know my dogs. But don't worry, there is some stamping going on too!

See our next door neighbors Christa and Ramon, just LOVE Annie. And every time we are invited over, we have to bring her along or Christa will pout :-) So of course Annie has come to love her too. Matter of fact, I almost have to put her on a leash when I open my front door so she won't run over to their door every time!

Well the other day Christa had called me and said to come to her door quick... of course I had Annie tag along... what I didn't foresee was that Sam AND Maggie followed. So picture this: She opens the door, Annie runs in and upstairs! Followed by Sam, up he went! Maggie being the oldest and not really close to others... followed anyway, but only into the downstairs entrance... I think she got spooked by Christa, took a shortcut under the stairs and in the process ran over the Garden Gnome... AND beheaded him. YIKES!!!!

Christa just laughed and had no problem with it. (She was even able to glue it back together) But I felt sooooooo soooo bad that I went online and ordered a new but different one for them to replace. The one I picked will be perfect for the entrance:

bench

But back to the main reason of this post! So I got the gnome yesterday and needed to make a card for Maggie to give to Christa :-)

Here it is - notice the top note fabric piece:

Of course the head of this one swivels too:

gnome2

And the inside:

See Maggie's Signature paw print?  I've inked up her paw with VersaMark and "stamped" the CS, then embossed it with clear EP... Poor Thing, NOT!

Anyway, nothing fancy - just wanted to share!

Big Shot meets Heat-N-Bond

I tell you, there really are NO limits! I had too much fun today by giving the old dog bed a needed do-over.

You see we've had this round puffy dog bed for a long time and just this week I've noticed some wear and tear holes. Well I was not the only one! Annie our puppy noticed them too and started to pull out the filling little by little. So I went and bought a new bed at SAMS the other day. But when I pulled the old one out of the corner and put the new one in, I could tell Annie didn't like it. I thought "tough, you'll get used to it". I took it to the kitchen to take out, and put it down for just a minute. That's when Annie laid back down on it, so I got her off. Then I went and reached for the garbage to take with me, turned around and yes you guessed it, she was on it again. Well, I didn't need to think much longer - she showed me that she really loved HER bed, and I decided to fix it.

I washed it and then pulled out some fabric, the heat-n-bond and followed the instructions to bond them together. I've cut out several shapes with the BigShot and Top Note (and Nestie Hearts), and ironed them onto the pillow case. Viola!

Here are the "after" shots:

All 3 were not so sure at first:

But she still likes it:

I just wanted to say it only had like 2 holes, but 2 patches didn't look right so I did lots :-)  And I guess I can still add to them if we get more...
