Desktop Calendar Case + MDS = awesome

I just LOOOOOVVVVE when things work out the way I had envisioned  them! It’s not always of course, but when it happens, it makes me happy, happy, happy! (had to sneak my favorite Duck Commander quote in here).

So I wanted to make a gift for me stamp club members since today a new round is starting up. And by my title, you might guessed it already. Yes, I made them Desktop calendars!

Here is a “group shot”:

And here is a better picture of one open and one with back facing up in front of the open one:

And here you have  a glimpse of the inserts:

I totally love MDS, but I think I have told you that maybe once or twice Winking smile  But what I love about MDS is that you can customize anything! I made the pages but starting with a blank page in the size of 4 by 7.25. Then I added the Calendars and decorated. The little colored dot each month, marks the day of the meeting… Once I was ready to print, I simply told MDS that I wanted 2 on a page… Easy, peasy!

Then cut them down (following the lines that I printed on each page in pale gray) and put them in the cases.

Can’t wait to hand them out… Of course I will have done that by the time you read this, since I am going to schedule this post so the ladies will have a little surprise when they come over tonight!

Here is what I used:

So sad…

This week was one of those sad ones when you hear about the loss of a beloved pet.

Some of you know that I work for Sandra Bain, (Pets At Home)… She called me this week with the sad news that Banjo one of our long time pets passed away.

He was very special to me (shhhh, don’t tell Sam!). I could just always tell that he was happy when I stopped by and followed me around. (I’d hate to think it was only for the treats… but hey, he got those of course).

So when I had to go over this week to take care of Gurly “only”, it was very heartbreaking. I really think she misses him… because now she want’s a lot of attention and snuggles… which of course I am glad to give.

Today was the last stop for this “assignment” and I didn’t just want to leave an invoice without expressing our sympathy… so I made an hybrid card this morning.

I used a picture of Banjo as a very subtle background to honor him…

Butterfly Thank You’s

I have started to use the print service for “My Digital Studio” a little more and really like it. The quality is awesome and turnaround time pretty fast (this time under a week!).

In the past I have created my little Thank You notes for orders by using the tag option. What I don’t care for so much is that they come with a pre-punched hole, which is fine for tags but not sure about the little cards I give… So I tried something new this time!

I opened up a blank greeting card and created away… I am able to get 4 little cards from 1 greeting card. AND you can get them printed 2-sided.

Here are some screen shots – Front:

Back:

mds_hybrid_screen2

So then when I got the greeting cards, I just cut them into 4th.

I then stamped and punched a butterfly, using then new set “Papillon Potpourri”. The coordinating punch is called “Elegant Butterfly” and Dillie, yes – it punches out VERY EASY! Come by and try it out Smile

Hybrid Tree Card

The other day I came across a sketch provided by MaryJo. I used to play along every week and just got side-tracked… I really liked this layout A LOT!. So I saved it because I wanted to use it today.

Here is the layout:

TSSC214

And just like things go… time got away from me today…and I felt like I didn’t have enough time to get a nice card done.

BUT then I remembered that I could do all of the layering in “My Digital Studio”! Just like yesterday, I opened the software and had the sketch displayed in the photo section of the resource panel… and started to make my layers.

This is the “MDS” layer that I wanted for my card:

tree-001

Then I stamped, colored in, sponged, distressed, punched and added ribbon and brads to make it a hybrid card. See how it turned out:

Here is a view from the side so you can see that the back layers are “flat” from MDS and only the tree layer is dimensional and “real” :

So I did change up the sketch a little on where the greeting went, but I had to because I wanted that tree layer a little more tilted… But I am really happy with the whole hybrid creation Smile You should give it a try!

I love that this combines my passion for stamping and computers! And I don’t own this Designer Paper “in real” craft supplies, but had purchased the digital download called “Woodland Walk”, which was perfect for what I wanted it for!

Announcing the December Winner

The voting has been closed now for several days and I need to announce our December winner before January rolls around!

Number 4 is our winning entry:

See:

The card was created by Adriane, who’s part of the Monday #1 stamp club. I do want to point out that this pretty card is a “hybrid” card, which means Adriane created the elements in “My Digital Studio”, printed them out and then made it into a “real” card with dimension and embellishments. Great job!

Congrats to you, Adriane. Your “grand prize” (December demo items) are ready for you and you can get them anytime or just pick up at the stamp club meeting next week.

Thanks to all of the ladies for their great cards and to all of you who voted!

My MDS/Hybrid Christmas Card

This year I made my Christmas Card using “My Digital Studio” and had them professionally printed by Stampin’ Up!

Here is the front view:

And here is a page by page video:

When I received the printed cards, which by the way come with the envelope, I border scallop punched the front layer so the bottom part of the inside card would show. I also shimmer sprayed the front and added a Rhinestone over the “j” in “jolly”.

I was very happy how it turned out and the quality of it.

Hybrid card with a preview

Hi guys, today’s post will be really short because we are invited to our neighbors in just a few minutes… So I’ll get right to it!

Last night I have my downline meeting and I prepared an extra project for the girls that actually came to the meeting (evil grin and hint, hint… Love you guys!)

I wanted to do a hybrid card with the “Hope and Strength” MDS download and stamp set.

Here is my card:

strength and hope_mds

Both, the set and “My Digital Studio” download will be available starting next month and Stampin’ Up! will donated $2 from each sale to the “Breast Cancer Research Foundation”. You might know how dear this is to me as I’ve personally dealt with this twice now. So you all can understand that I not only bought the stamp set but also the MDS download the very second I was able to preorder! The MDS download comes with cool DSP and some embellishments… It will be featured in the Summer Mini catalog which should arrive in your mailboxes soon!

This is a very easy card. The top layer was created in MDS and then layered onto Early Espresso CS. Ribbon was added and then layered onto the Old Olive card. I’ve added the rhinestones. And I only stamped the butterfly in Old Olive CRAFT ink and heat embossed in clear Embossing Powder. It was cut out by hand and added to card with a dimensional!

Gotta run now :-) Have a nice weekend!

My Digital Studio Tutorial – Whole Page of Bunnies

Today I just wanted to share a quick way with you on how to cover a whole page with the same image.

For those that are not so interested in “MDS” or digital crafting all-together, scroll down below the video for a card share!

Here is the video:

By the way, the Digital Stamp set is called “Chocolate Bunny”. Some of you may have purchased the real stamp last year while it was available in a mini catalog. But if you didn’t, you can still get it now and use with MDS or any other program! The item number is 124487 and the price only $1.95!

Here is my quick hybrid card. Meaning, I used the digital image and used it on a “traditional” card:
