Guest Designer - Jennifer Pohl - Planner Perfection!

So excited to welcome Jennifer Pohl as a guest designer today with a focus on Planners.  Jen was our blog coordinator for 3 years and got SRM into blogging, Facebook and social media big time.  She is an incredible crafter and now she's turned her focus on Planners. She's simply wild about all things planners and SRM has so many products that are planner perfect!  Check them out HERE! We will be seeing more of Jen from time to time, sharing her planner goodness with us.

And if you leave a comment on the blog today you will be in the running for winning the stash that Jennifer used on her planner….just in time for your October pages!

Now let's hear from Jen in her own words….

Hello everyone, I’m Jennifer Pohl and I’m thrilled to be on the SRM blog today!  SRM stickers have been a part of my life for *years*.  They are the perfect product for party favors, birthday designs, gifting, and now --- planners!  I’m absolutely addicted to my planner; it’s a lifeline for all that’s important to me.  It helps me stay focused, organized, and assists me in staying on track with my life goals.  It’s so much more than a date keeper.

It’s not my nature to just jot down appointments and events on paper – I need to be creative.  I need to make it pretty.  I need to look at my planner every morning and feel motivated.  Today I’m featuring my October layout.  My objectives for October are;
  • Take lots of fun photos of my children enjoying the events of the month
  • Continue to try new recipes and record them on recipe cards that I can refer to in the future
  • Be on time, and not let anything “fall through the cracks” as it’s sure to be a busy month
October’s layout is all about Halloween, my family’s favorite holiday.  I’ve decorated the month with SRM Stickers but left plenty of room for jotting-down important information.

I inserted an embellished pocket to store backpack notes for my girls.

(I’ve been tucking notes for years and my girls look forward to seeing a little something from mom.  They’ve kept every note throughout the years!)

I got ahead of the game by premaking little inspiring tags using SRM’s Labels by the Dozen’ and ‘Live Life’ school stickers.

Also tucked into October is a glassine envelope containing recipe cards – all decorated with SRM’s Cookin’ stickers.  I’m on a mission to try new recipes and memorialize my family’s favorites each month.

By the end of 2015 I should have a collection to help me head into 2016 with lots of dinner options.

The last October insert is a clear pocket for photos.  Lots and lots of photos!  We’re planning a trip to the pumpkin patch, haunted house, and we’ll be attending a costume party… So many opportunities for pictures.  I needed something special to hold them until I could scrapbook them, so I fancied a banner using SRM’s Halloween stickers.

Thanks for stopping by! I hope you enjoyed a peek into my planner.  Be sure to share your planner ideas on SRM's Flickr.  We'd love to see what you do!  And don't forget to comment for a change to winner some planner goodness from SRM!

It's in the Bag! by Roberta

For a summer garden party, Roberta Rosi has created some krafty cutlery holders using SRM's small kraft bags measuring 4" x 6 3/4" as containers.

Roberta embossed the bottom of the kraft bags with small dots.

She decorated the top of the kraft bags with SRM 4" doilies folded in half.  Roberta loves SRM doilies.  The are great for so many uses.  They could even be a coaster to set drinks on at the party.

Roberta decorated each doily with a small die cut butterfly and one sticker from SRM's Live Life Cooking series.

And at the bottom of each bags she added Caribbean blue baker's twine. YUM!

Love how Roberta added coordinated napkins and straws in with her utensils.  Totally fab!

Kitchen Vinyl Decor by Laurel

Welcome to Day #1 of Vinyl Week at the SRM Blog where everyday this week you will be treated to projects using SRM's new Vinyl made by our incredible design team.  Did you know that SRM Vinyl is Oracal #631 Matte and #651 Gloss?  And there's a GIVEAWAY too!

First up is Laurel Seabrook who loves to play with vinyl and her Silhouette transforming garage sale items into special decor.  Laurel especially loves picking up slightly used items at garage sales, decorating them and adding them to themed gift baskets.

For her first project Laurel spray painted an old rolling pin with some Chalkboard spray paint and then cut out the sentiment with her Silhouette using SRM's new White Matte Vinyl which is essential to any crafty stash.

How very cool this would look in your kitchen!  So quick and easy but sensational!

Laurel added some twine and SRM Cooking Stickers to finish off her project.  What a great way to add a special crafty touch and to display it.

For her second project Laurel had a little cutting board sitting around for a while that she had found at a garage sale.  When she got her SRM Vinyl she knew exactly what she was going to do with it!

First she sprayed it with some Chalkboard Spray paint.  She then cut out the sentiment and rooster from some of the white SRM Vinyl using her Silhouette.  Then to finish it off, she tied some solid natural twine onto the handle.

This re-purposed cutting board now sits nicely in an open shelf in Laurel's kitchen.

Do you love vinyl?  Be sure to leave a comment here on the blog and you will be in the running for a GIVEAWAY.  During this week long celebration of vinyl, one lucky person will receive a stash of SRM's Vinyl to play with! Winner will be announced next Tuesday. If you love vinyl we would also love for you to joint our Facebook Group "All Things SRM Vinyl".  Come join in the fun!

What's Cookin' by Angélique

What's cookin' on the SRM Blog next week?  Here's a sneak peek!  We are having a week that's all about vinyl featuring SRM's new adhesive vinyls that our design team has been playing with.

When Angélique Jarrier received her SRM vinyl she decided to repurpose some old glass jars to create containers for her kitchen but also to serve as decoration.    Angélique used SRM's Silver Metallic Matte Vinyl and some of SRM's Cooking stickers to embellish her project.  Angélique does not have a Silhouette so she just wrapped the vinyl around the jar and decorated it with stickers.  Easy peasy and so much fun!

Here's the SRM products Angélique used for this project.

Be sure to check in with us for next week's celebration of all things vinyl!  Our team has lots of inspiration in store for you!  And did I mention that there will be a GIVEAWAY?

Tutorial: Popcorn Seasoning Set by Michelle

Michelle Giraud was inspired by a post on Pinterest showing a set of seasoning salts for popcorn in glass jars and plastic bags and she thought that the SRM Mini Tubes, Glassine Bags and Cooking themed stickers would be just perfect for her project.  And she was right!

Michelle felt the tubes needed something to hold them together as a set, so she made a top and bottom "box" to set them in.  To make the box you'll need 2 pieces of cardstock 5.25"x3".  Score each side @ 1", cut lines as shown in diagram (not to scale) then glue/tape the box together folding the excess flaps to the inside. Completed box will measure 3.25" x 1".  She decorated both the top and bottom with scalloped trim and stickers from Freestyle Cookin' which were adhered to black cardstock then trimmed.

Michelle used mini tubes to store her seasonings and embellished the little box she created with SRM Cooking Stickers.  Perfect!

Michelle made 3 salt mixes; spicy Mexican, savory garlic & pepper, and sweet cinnamon & sugar.  Each tube holds 1/4 cup of seasoning.  Here are her recipes:

Spicy Mexican Salt
1/4 cup salt
1/4 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon cumin

Savory Garlic Pepper
1/4 cup salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

Sweet Cinnamon Sugar
1/8 cup salt
1/8 cup sugar
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon

Michelle mixed each salt and used a small funnel to pour into the tubes.  The Express Yourself Recipe stickers have the perfect square stickers to label the tubes spicy, savory and sweet.

Michelle measured out 1/2 cup servings of popcorn and put them in decorated SRM Glassine bags.  She used stickers from Freestyle Cookin' and red stitches to decorate.

Michelle finished off the set in a yellow cardstock popcorn box which was made from a template from greensneakers.com  What a great resource Green Sneakers is.  So many templates!

Here are just a few of the SRM Cooking stickers.  See them all HERE.

What a wonderful gift for a popcorn loving friend!  Thank you Michelle for this delicious inspiration.

What's Cookin' by Angi

Whether it's Project Life, Smash, or Photo Freedom there are so many ways to document your life nowadays and Angi Barrs really loves the new concepts. And she finds it so easy and fun to add SRM Stickers to any of these projects.

Angi started making a new Snap album this month. This one is dedicated to her "Sweet Tooth". She loves pies, cakes, brownies, cheesecake, etc.
She thinks that she has visited just about every bakery in her town. :)

Here's Angi's "Foodie Book" so far...
The cover says it all!  And it says it in a combination of Thickers and SRM Stickers. Angi used lots of stickers from SRM's Cooking Collection.

Here's the What's Cookin' sticker that she used on the cover.  Just think of all the ways that Angi can use these stickers in her new "Sweet Tooth" book!

Angi created a few pages devoted to some mini pies that she has her eye on to use for an upcoming family function.  YUM!

The definition for "recipe" is from SRM's Cooking Say it with Stickers.  The rest of this sticker is going to come in handy as Angi builds her "sweet" book.

And on this page Angi used one of SRM's Labels by the Dozen the "Made by" Collection. Love this set!  And love any sweet with lemon!

Made with Love by Michelle

Michelle Bertuzzi loves to bake cookies and give them to friends.  And she loves to include the recipe just in case they like them and want to try the recipe themselves.  What a great idea!

Michelle put her baked cookies into a large SRM Glassine bag, made a topper to close the bag and then added a ribbon, a " {mmm...} cooking sticker and sealed the bag with a Made By Label.

Here's a close up of the front of the treat bag. Love the delicate border at the bottom of the topper.

On the back, I love how Michelle tucked the recipe inside the ribbon and added some stickers as decorations top and bottom.

The Made By Labels by the Dozen are perfect for packaging baked goods.

Here are all of the SRM products that Michelle used on her project.

Thanks Michelle for this yummy idea!

Join us tomorrow for a very special Guest Designer and a GIVEAWAY!  Who could it be?

Project Life by Corrie

Welcome to Project Life Friday!  Our design team members love using SRM Stickers on their Project life pages.  They are just perfect!

As you well know, Corrie Jones is a layout expert extraordinaire! Her layouts ususally have 1 photo with lots of artistic elements and embellishments.    However, sometimes Corrie likes to use Project Life as it is perfect for documenting an event with multiple photos and lots of journaling.  So with this in mind, she decided that a Project Life 2 page spread to tell about her recent birthday weekend was just the ticket!

Corrie says "SRM stickers make putting these pages together so simple and so much fun!".

SRM Stickers & Project Life work so well together. Here's a list of the SRM Stickers Corrie used on her pages.   All are available in the SRM Store:

We've Got Your Border Bright
We've Got Your Sticker Happy and Sweet
Express Yourself Recipes, Mother, New Years, Everyday Girl

We'd love to see your Project Life pages using SRM Stickers.  Simply post them to our Flickr page and you might just find yourself in the spotlight on our Facebook!
