Another Selvage Quilt by Ann Marie Cowley

Here is yet another beautiful selvage quilt by prolific quilter Ann Marie Cowley of Hillsboro, Oregon. Ann Marie also hikes with her family, participates in Boy Scout activities, and much more. See her blog: http://www.runandsewuilts.wordpress.com/. How does she do it all you ask? Here's part of the answer: multi-tasking. She sewed the binding while riding in the car!

I love this quilt. It has such a profusion of selvages. It would be fun to browse through all these blocks. I bet we'd recognize many of those fabrics, don't you think?

Ann Marie's "Cartwheels" Selvage Quilt

Ann Marie Cowley of Hillsboro, Oregon made this gorgeous "Cartwheels" quilt. Here's her story:
"I have the book "Material Obsession" (http://materialobsession.typepad.com/material_obsession/). In the back is a great string quilt that I used as a guide for my latest selvage quilt, "Cartwheels" I absolutely LOVE it! My brother in Kentucky made the flag case out of an old chestnut barn from the early 1900's and the little picture box on the right. He is a fabulous wood worker."

Ann Marie is also the maker of the Red Zinger that recently won a red ribbon at the Oregon State Fair (and a blue Viewer's Choice ribbon). See sidebar. Also see her blog at: http://www.runandsewuilts.wordpress.com/.

Ann Marie's Red Zinger Wins at Oregon State Fair

Ann Marie of Oregon won a red ribbon at the Oregon State Fair for her Red Zinger selvage quilt! And she won a Viewer's Choice blue ribbon too, Yayyy!
The judge's comments read: "Nice binding technique / what a fabric collector / points should all match." :) This one is definitely a winner!
Nice job, Ann Marie! See her blog at: http://runandsewuilts.wordpress.com/ She also likes to hike with her family and you can see some breath-taking photos of the Northwest on her blog in addition to some great quilts.

Ann Marie's Red Zinger!

Ann Marie of Run and Sew Quilts (http://www.runandsewuilts.wordpress.com/) from Oregon just finished quilting her Red Zinger, and what a stunning quilt it is!! Her friends at Boersma's Sewing Center in McMinnville got to see this quilt in person; lucky quilters. The binding will be red. Perfect!

That quilting is just gorgeous! She got some quilting ideas from the gals at Machine Quilter's Resource (http://www.MQResource.com/ ). Didn't she do an incredible job? The quilting in the red areas reminds me of that old fashioned ribbon candy my grandmother had at Christmas when I was little. Take a close look at the outer border. I love this quilt.
