Scrapbook Tuesday - Grown Up Haircut

Hello Peeps

Gosh I don't know about where you live but we have had a "shower" for the last two days!!  Which means that my windows cannot be painted, nor can the borders be weeded so......crafting time!!  Once the dreaded H word had been done!

So as it is Tuesday (well, near enuff) I thought I would share this week's layout with you......

Yes!  It is yours truly having had her hair cut short for the first time at a hairdressers!  When I went to the said hairdressers, my hair was long enough for me to sit on and had never been cut more than an inch to cut off the dead ends.  But at the time I had this haircut, pageboy styles were the "in" thing and I was now a big girl at comprehensive school so my mother finally  relented and let me have it cut.
I used a plethora of papers all of which were VOS, Bo Bunny, Kaisercraft and I cannot remember the dark brown one as I have binned the tab - Oops!  The flowers were on the reverse of the turquoise paper which I fussy cut and shaped using my new McGill ball tools.  The Prima pearl flourish I bought in Cornwall on a retreat some four years ago and I was just waiting for a suitable project to use them on.
The brads are VOS and I blinged them with schtickles. The flower ribbon was sent to me by my WOYWW PIFer Deeyll - thanks again.
There is a Snippet of waxed cord being woven through the punched edge here.  I had used this on Saturday during an online workshop whereby I made a handstitched book.  That is another blog posting and was hilarious!!  Photos on a layout soon!
These lovely birdies were sent to me by a Playground Buddy.  Aren't they adorable?  A little stamping there on the background with some perfect pearls. The letters were cut on my Cricut. (Note to self....look out for some more fonts!)

The Bo Bunny cream card needed some szchoozing so I used a stencil with some Peacock and Rusty Hinge DIs.   A tab pulled out of the Snippet box, left over from the friend books I made recently.  The funny thing about this layout is that I had company in my craft room whilst creating it through the wonders of technology!  My friend Belinda was in South Africa and we had such a giggle crafting together!  Thanks Belinda.

Before I go I just wanted to share this photo with you.  As I mentioned it has been raining heavily here for two days and imagine my surprise when I peeped over the railing to find this flower blooming!  We have tried for many years to get a Passion Flower to take off here and this year we finally have three buds.  One has already flowered and now this one, though the label was purple so not sure why these are white!

Off over to the Playground to share this layout (Snippets) as well as Our Creative Corner as there are words on my layout too!  Sorry this post is a little long but....well, I wasn't called Miss Chatterbox by Mrs Margerison for nothing!!

Thanks for calling by.

Christmas Time...Tag 6...and a little of Bath

Hello There!

Gosh hasn't it got cold?  Almost too cold to play in the Playground so wrap up warm and try and keep warm and well.

Onto today's crafting project.  Would you believe I have a tag to show you?  Surprised?  Yeah right!!

I am on Tag 6 now (yippee) of The Funkie Junkie's 12 Tags of Christmas, and still loving them.  (Let's face it, if I didn't I would have given up by now!)  If you are quick and have all your crafting jobs finished for Christmas you may still be able to get all 12 done before Monday, for the chance to win the prize as it is sponsored by The Funkie Junkie Boutique.

As usual I will show you Linda's tag first.....

And here is mine....
I was trying to show you the schparkle on the background hence the wonky look!  I forgot to take a straight one but hey ho...I like this angle!

Here is a close up...
That is the top and here is the bottom.
I used a Snippet of a Czech book for the background and adhered it to the tag cut from cardstock with my TH die and once dried I used some packing tape to take off some of the print (distressing yeay!), then I inked the background with Pine Needles and Vintage Photo DIs.  I flicked some water and dried it with my heat gun. I stamped my TH snowflake stamp with clear schparkly embossing powder.  I cut a TH clock with a Snippet of chipboard then inked with Aged Mahogany DI and embossed it with several layers of UTEE before adhering it to the background.  The tree I stamped onto TH Cordinations cardstock using Forest Moss and Vintage Photo DI and edged with Bronze DS.  I then smooshed some Distress Stickles on there too.

For the Snowflake, I was lucky enough to be given some small TH Snowflake die cuts (will be ordering that die very soon - I have the large one but it was way too big) and I swooshed it with Bronze DS before fixing it together and adhering it in the centre of the clock.

The bow is stamped with a Sheena Douglas stamp, which I recently won from the Playground, and stamped with AM DI and clear embossing powder before painting it with AM DI and a water brush.

The flower at the top left are some TH poinsettias that I have had forever, with a tag cut from the TH die and stamped with a SU stamp in AM DI.  The lace was out of my Snippets box too so more of my bits and pieces used up.

I wanted to share some photos with you of Hubby and my trip to Bath on Sunday for the Christmas Market.  It was a lovely few hours that we spent there and all that was missing was a brass band, though there were lots of street buskers some of whom were fabulous.  (Jan can you be there next time for me!)

Right. That's all Folks for today.  Thanks for calling by and hope you like my tag and pictures.

Funkie Junkie Tag 1 - SSS

Hello Friends

Do you remember a short while ago I told you about a challenge I had discovered by the lovely Linda Coughlin over at the Funkie Junkie Blog (click HERE for more deets)?  Well if you recall Linda was already up to Tag 9 so I had some catching up to do.  So where better to start but at Tag 1?  (Linda is up to Tag 11 so I need to get on with them!)  So here goes....

Here is Linda's piece first (a stunner if I might say so Linda!)...

Well here is my take on Linda's tag....

As I have mentioned before I don't do Stars but I do do Hearts.

Some close ups and some details.  Tag was cut with SU Vanilla cardstock using my TH die.  The tag was swooshed with Picket Fence and Bronze Distress Stains.  I stamped my TH flourish stamp on the top right using some Ferro paint mixed with some puff paint, however, I think my stamp had mostly Ferro paint on it! Love the shimmer on it though.
The Angel wings I have had for years and years and.....(you get the idea), the button came from a button stall at the NEC (I have the card somewhere if you really want to know the supplier.  Just add it in the comments and I will dig it out for you).  I could have spent hours and a small fortune at that stall as they were all wooden and in any shape or form you could think of.  Expect to see a few more as this wasn't the only one I bought!  The Burlap (string in the UK) came from Funkie Junkie shop (love it).  The "25" and the two larger hearts were cut using Sizzix and TH dies using a wrap from Coffee 1.   The two smaller hearts were cut from Snippets of card and covered with TH Tissue Tape.

At the bottom left of the tag I used a stencil and the puffed paint and Ferro mixture, heated it with the heat gun, painted over the top with Fresco paint (Vintage Lace), then I stamped over the top with the bronze DS using my TH flourish stamp again, and I stamped over the two smaller hearts at the same time.  I got my Treasured Gold wax and brushed over the top of the raised parts as well as the 25 and hearts.  I distressed the edges, wrote out the sentiment on Snippets and added the lace, bells and burlap.

You have until 17th December to catch up with all 12 tags and there is a chance to win a prize  from the sponsor Funkie Junkie  Love their goodies and to be honest, postage was not an awful lot in the context of things and pretty quick to the UK (8 days from order to parcel!).

Hope you like!

I am now entering this into the following challenges:-

Funkie Junkie - Tag 1
Simon Says Stamp - Project with a Heart
Rudolph Day - Christmas
Snippets - Using Snippets

Thanks for calling by and please leave me a comment.  Don't forget it is not too late to join in with these 12 Tags of Christmas with Linda.  There is a prize too, as well as some beautiful tags to look at.  Click HERE to get to Tag 1, from where you can view the others.

A Reflective Piece - CC2C & Tim Holtz

Hello Friends

I thought I would share with you something I have been working on the last few evenings.  Linda over at Studio L3 has asked us to turn to page 57 of the Crafters Compendium II and make a piece of artwork using the technique on that page.  This month The Funkie Junkie Boutique are sponsoring the challenge giving away a $25 voucher.  This week's challenge happens to coincide with Tim Holtz's 12 Tags of 2012, so it is a twoferone week!!

Here is a my piece.....

A little bit bigger than a tag or card from me this time!!  The whole surround to the mirror is about 11" square.  I have been holding on to it for quite some time with the intention of covering it with paper and making an arty piece but when I saw the new Crafters Compendium with this technique I knew what I would be doing with it.  So, when I saw Linda's Challenge for this week I dug out the mirror and set to work in making this piece.
I have added some metal embellishments  which I have collected along the way.

Including some watch pieces saved from previous projects,  some of which are real watch pieces.
And of course, some die cuts from Ranger and a rusty cockeral in the middle.  For some reason our cockeral has not quite got used to the darker mornings and is to be heard at 5am!!
I just love this little piece which I bought in Hobbycraft a month or so ago.  Wish I had bought another one now.  I love the way the light reflects on this piece but it makes it difficult to take decent photos, especially early in the morning on a dull day!

Here you can see a before and after version with the back of the mirror as it is now and the new version.  Think I like the right hand one better myself!  (Though I was finding it difficult to take a picture without my face in it....I can assure you that at this close range and first thing in the morning that would be scary!)

Now what am I going to do with this? is a question I was asked last night by my friend.  Not sure yet.  I thought about a C gift for my nephew and his soon to be wife, but Hubby says no!  Put it in the Den and make another one for Rhys was his reply. The first is always better than subsequent ones. I did warn him that would mean another trip to the "Ishopwhichcannotbenamed" (Ikea!)!!  Hee Hee!  We shall see ey!

Thanks for popping by.  Do go and look at the lovely pieces that have been made both on the Tim Holtz Blog and Linda's.  There are some stunning pieces.  And of course, don't forget to check out the Funkie Junkie if you want/need some stash!

CC2C - Upcycle or Recycle?

Hello Peeps

How are you all on this damp Bank Holiday?  You can always tell a Bank Holiday in the UK - it is the one day you can almost guarantee it to rain!  Never mind, I don't think anything could dampen the spirits of those people in London today or the whole weekend.  Next time I am going - for sure!

Well, yesterday and today whilst things have been busy in London, I have been stuck (such a hardship I know) in my Craft Room and today's showing is what I have made.  Over at the Lovely Linda's we have been asked to use packaging and over at Simon Says Stamp and Show the Challenge is to show some texture so woopee! I can combine the both in this lickle project.

Here it is to begin with showing some of the items I was about to use in this project....

(Can anyone tell me what the difference is between "Recycle" and "Upcycle" please?)

Can you believe I had to drink the diet Coke in order to have a second can?  Such sacrifices I have made for the sake of art!  Here is the finished article....

The base is from a box in which some supplies came in.
Close up of the inked and embossed flowers and flourishes.  All made from coke cans, die packaging, Prima and Anna Griffin packaging.
All the buttons are from a tin which a friend of mine rescued from her Aunt's house when she died.
The fluffy fibres were from the same place as the box.  Every time you order from that company you have some fibres in the box which usually match the papers you have bought.  The little clip came off the scarf I bought from my favourite shop only last week.
Even the lace was given to me when I went on a retreat in Cornwall some 3 years ago
More labels from my favourite shop and some splats from Distress Stains.  The clip and Giggle tag are only two of the three bought embellishments on this layout.
These flowers were made using Cuttlebug dies and the sleeves you get when you buy take out coffee.

And the star of the layout - Sputnik, who started out being found in a skip in Cardiff herself.  So all in all, a "Rubbish" layout!

Hope you like and please leave me a comment so I know you have been.

I also want to say Hi to my latest follower.  Thank you for following me.

Hugs

Edit - Woo Hoo!  Teacher over at the Playground has told me to link this to the Snippets Challenge because it is technically Snippets albeit from the Recycle Bin!!  Why don't you use up your Snippets and join us in the Playground, though most of us are on the Carousel in this yukky weather as at least there is a roof on there for us to shelter under!

CC2C - Challenge 6! Tissue Dummy

Hello Peeps

Wow!  On the CC2C with the Lovely Linda we are on number 6!  Wow!  Hadn't realised we were that far on!

This week we are sponsored by The Funkie Junkie who are new sponsors to this Challenge.  They have lots to buy on their website and I may just have to treat myself VERY soon! (As if I need encouragement to buy new stash!)

This week we are on Page 38 of the new Tim Holtz Compendium of Curiosities and we are playing with tissue.  I cannot reveal exactly what I did but I can show you.....

You will notice that I did not use Tim Holtz tissue as I do not have any and know that I wouldn't be able to order it and have it arrive in time.  However, not to miss out on the Challenge I found some old sewing patterns and used parts which I know I won't use.  This particular piece was for a Ra-Ra skirt which I know I will not have the urge to make one let alone wear one!  I have not worn one of those since I was about 16 - yes, two years ago (I wish!).

So as I was using sewing patterns then I just HAD to use my favourite die (still not bored with it yet) and corresponding stamps.  To add my little flair I finally cut into some honeycomb paper which I bought a little while ago.  Love it!  A little gold wax and pink fluff to finish and hey presto one tag.  Hope you like.  There is still time for you to join in as the new Challenge comes up on Friday.

Please leave me a comment so I know you have been.

Hugs

Scrappy Tuesday - Dad's 80th

Hello Peeps

It is Tuesday so we know what that means don't we?  Scrappy Tuesday.  Well, if you have been on my blog in recent months.  No reason as to why I show you my layouts on a Tuesday, no challenge, just one of those things I thought would be a good idea.  Sometimes we need to have a lickle structure in our lives!

Tonight I thought I would show you a layout which I completed at the Scrapbus Crop last month.  This layout used some of my favourite papers,My Minds Eye, and the Special Day was my Daddy's 80th Birthday last year.  The chocolate cake I made for him and the Womble has been used on cakes in our family for a very long time.  Must remember to get him back!

We gutted, distressed, cut out, raised, stamped, die cut and generally grunged to create this layout.  As usual mine is not exactly the same as the instructions as I added my lickle touch to the flowers, extra layers and different colour ways used as well as threading the buttons.  Not keen on "empty" buttons.

Hope you like this layout as much as I do.  I will treasure the photo for ever!  I have printed it in black and white as sometimes this looks better than colour.  Don't know why but they do!

Let me know you have been by leaving me a comment.  Gotta love comments.
