Thank you for the Invite...

Hello there

I haven't been up to playing in my craft room of late but I have a few projects in the draft section that I have not shared with you before.  It is similar to the card I made for my friend Ann, that is because I made it around the same time.  I used my Tonic dies but a different set this time.  This was its first outing so an NBUS.

I covered the card base with the lilac card, chomped the corners and stamped them with Archival ink using my SU set.

I took the pale blue card and run it through with the Tonic dies and then inked around the edges and layered it up.
I added some ribbon to the bottom....
Some butterflies and some pearls...
and a matching envelope!

I know the recipient liked it...phew!

Sorry I have not been around much...still coughing for Wales and our internet is flaky these days.

Simon Says Stamp is looking for things that fly this week so I am fluttering by with the butterflies.

Birthday wishes...

Hello Friends

First I want to say a huge Thank you for all your messages after my little close inspection of the driveway at the end of last week.  They are truly appreciated.  I just love that rabbit picture so had to share it with you all.

The cut leg is healing nicely...well as nicely as a tear can and my right leg is colouring up nicely.  I am playing a game with myself as to what new Distress Ink colour I can see each day!!  I kid you not!!  Very ouchie but no doubt I will soon be running around the Playground rather than hobbling.

I want to share some cards I made in true Snippet style at the end of September, just before Mr Hettie and I went away.  Two were for my niece and friend whose birthdays were whilst we were away hence my not sharing before...

The background pieces are K&Co which were left over from an album I made some time ago.  Very convenient sizing there on my part.  I mounted these onto some dark brown card, though one is cream card which I inked with DI.  I used a mixture of Stampin Up, Penny Black and Hero Arts stamps
All the flags were stamped on the reverse of Snippets with my SU stamp, then cut out and layered.  The hearts are cut from a Sizzix die and them embossed with a folder which I cannot for the life of me think which make.  Do forgive me for not running upstairs to find which one! I also brushed over some Treasure Gold wax.  The star braid is ancient and has been in my stash forever.  Some pearls dotted here and there and I was happy with the look.
I also made a non birthday version to send to a dear friend.

There we have three cards made and an extra for the box and my Snippets mountain reduced for a wee while! Yeah right!

I am taking these over to the Snippets Playground.  The girls over there, and Parsnip of course, are all keeping me topped up with hot chocolate and cuddles whilst I lay up in the Treehouse.

Thank you all for calling by.

Hugs

Thank You

Hello there!

Having returned from a very fun filled dancing lesson I thought I would share a card I made earlier this week which I know has been received....

I wanted to say a special Thank You to someone very special to me.

I took a Snippet of card approx 2" x 8" and inked it with DIs, Victorian Velvet, Spun Sugar, Tattered Rose and Picked Raspberry.  I then did a spritz and flick, dried it with my heat gun before ironing it between two sheets of oven liner.

Yes you did read correctly.  I did say IRON it!  The only ironing, other than when quilt making, that I don't mind! Having chopped it to size, I then stamped it using Memento ink and embossed with sparkly embossing powder, as well as the 2" piece.  I inked the edges of the piece before adhering it to the card.  I took the odd piece and diecut it with my MB butterfly die.

A NBIS by Inkadinkadoo of TY, I adhered the stamped strip, butterfly and some arora borealis sparkly spots and chomped the corners and my card was finished.

The recipient liked it, the colour is a big clue as to who it was for!  I hope you like it too.  I am taking this down to the Snippets Playground for all to see.

Snippets Abound!

Hello There

Before you read on, I feel I must issue you with a warning.  You may want to put your sunglasses on or turn the colour contrast down on your screens.

I needed to make two birthday cards for two dear friends.  The day I went to do them it was a particularly grey and driecht kinda day and so my hand kinda veered towards the brighter colours in my ink tin.  I also got carried away with how many Snippets of white card that I got out of the box too as I was trying to gather smaller sized pieces rather than chop into a larger one.

Here is Sian's card........

And here is Aunty Val's card........(she isn't really my Aunty but I called her that when I first started working here and it kinda stuck!)  The white you can see around the card is the envelopes.  Darn it!  I should have moved them out of the way!

And then as I made too many panels I made some individual ones for Ron......later Ron!

The stamp is Hero Arts which I embossed with Versamark and clear embossing powder.  I inked the panels with Picked Raspberry, Mowed Lawn (bought as a result of trying to prove to Hubby that my paypal account from ebay does not work on my Blackberry phone! As you can see I was right! Thank goodness I chose a colour I didn't already have!) and Peacock Feathers Distress Inks.  Some Bakers twine from Papermania and ......Yep my Stampin Up (green) which I am very possessive over, and some sticky sparklies.  Out came the corner chomperer to alter ther corners too.  The two smaller cards are cut to go into envelopes out of my box and are tent style.  Liking this style a lot!
As all the inkied panels are from the Snippets box I shall take this over to the Snippets Playground.  Better put the sou'wester on as it is pouring it down here right now, having had blue sky this morning!  I am also joining this up with Addicted to Stamps as they are looking for CAS this week.  For me this is VERY CAS!!  EDIT:  I have also been pointed to Stamplorations Challenge so I am joining in there too!  This is a new challenge for me and having had a peek, they have some great challenges.  I have popped it on my sidebar if you wish to pop over.

Keep warm everybody and thank for calling by.

Scrapbook Tuesday - Our Own Narnia

Hello there Peeps

It is still Tuesday so I can still share my latest layout with you all - my last of 2013!  Well, it is my Blog and so my Rulz anyhoo!

Here it is........

I took this photo on 19 December 2010.  Fortunately I had already printed is as my relatively new printer is now kaput!!!  Not happy as it is only just out of warranty.  Apparently it needs a new printer head - Cost £25 + £7 postage.  Cost of new printer - £40 ish.  Guess I wont be replacing the head as I got through more ink in its short lifetime than any other printer I know of!  Hurrumpf!  So I guess I shall be using up some of my plethora of photos already printed in 2014 until I buy a new printer.  I got the idea for the title from a comment left on FB when this photo was on there by LLJ - "You have your own Narnia!".

For this layout I used some Bazzill card with some Grace Taylor paper for the spotty and punched the corners with a MS punch and backed with white card from the Snippets box.  The red card is Bazzill again punched with the MS PATP snowflake punch and yes, I did punch the sides also but then covered it with paper - doh!  I punched some black card Snippets with another MS punch and attached top and bottom of the green Kaisercraft paper with a small strip of white cardstock.
The snowflakes are all cut using Spellbinders dies using Snippets.  I decided to add a mixture of red buttons to the centres.  The top right have some TH chit chat stickers.

The letters are all cut from Snippets of card on my Cricut using Candy fonts and then stickled over.
I actually dug some washi tape out.  I have several different ones but don't use them very often.

My aim now for 2014 (I don't make Resolutions as they are most often broken) is to not just stuff my Snippets away in the Snippets draw but to make a couple of cards using them.  So here are two....
The coloured panels are made from using the papers out of the bottom of my spray box.  No idea exactly what created them but they have a fabulous shimmer.  I stamped the cards using two TH Grunge stamps, the HB stamp was a present from Kim when she visited.  The flourishes are all Tonic and are attached using spray adhesive and then covered with black stickles.
Here you can see a little of the shimmer of the coloured panel.

And a TY card with a handmade tent card and more of the Tonic die set and a TY stamp (so old no maker on it)!
And another view which hopefully shows you some of the shimmer.

I shall be popping these over to the Snippets Playground.  I believe there is some Baileys on offer over there (other drinks are available).

It just leaves me to say Thank You for calling by now and throughout 2013.  It has been a pleasure reading your comments and returning the call.  Here's to friends new and old that I have "met" during 2013 and I am looking forward to seeing what the Blogging World brings in 2014.

May I wish you all a Happy and Crafty New Year!

Hugs

Thank You Snippets and New Toy

Hello Friends

Whoosh!  Did you hear that?  It was the sound of the weekend flying past!  This weekend has gone very quick and very busy.  Back to work tomorrow but it is a short week for me as I have a few days off.  I have a very special Blogging Friend coming to visit.  Also, I am hoping I may get a crafting day in, just for some relaxation!

You will recall the other day I told you I found some photos of projects which I have not posted.  These were another two pics I came across.....

I made these Thank You cards just after my Birthday.  Glad I wasn't as tardy in actually sending them.  I made a few all in the same style using my new SU embossing folder which a Special Friend sent to me.  I have used it on other projects, but these were the first.  The cards VOS were more out of that kit which I find difficult to use, but determined to use them I am.  All the cardstock used on this were from my Snippets box so I shall be sharing these with the Snippets Playground.

Have a good week everyone.

Stencils and paste - Thank you

Hello Friends

September is here - how did that happen?

When I was playing with my stencils last I made up this piece but didn't make it up into anything.  I wanted to send a Thank you card for a friend who had sent me Happy Post so I had a rummage in my Snippets drawer and made this lickle card up to send her.

I am just going to pop over to the Playground to see what mayhem has happened over there this last weekend before the Snippeteers go back to school!

A Country Stencils stencil, Sweet Poppy past and Martha Stewart glitter.  Tim Holtz die and SU stamp.

Fishey Wishes

Hello Buddies

What a change in the weather we have had today from the last few!  Gorgeous most of the day.  Just as well as I was lucky enough to meet up with two of my lovely Playground Buddies, Miss Di and ScrappyMo, today for a little chop at Flutterbys then a walk around Highclere.  Had to be on my best behaviour with Miss on account of a lot of potential naughty steps or a clip around the ear!  It was a fabulous day and thank you Ladies.

A few weeks whilst I had my Sweet Poppy stencils out I grabbed some other stencils that were in my collection and played, including this fishey stencil.  Though I did not quite know what I was going to do with them, I just left them on my desk until I had a fort! Yes it hurt!

Miss Di was kind enough to send me a Ryn stamp and had a Eureka moment one day when I was finking how I could use it.  So I inked a piece of card with my DIs and spritzed with water before drying.  I got my Cavallini stamps and stamped a background using AIs.
I then took my NBIS Ryn stamp and stamped the background, with first and second generation stampings.  Distressed the edges and inked before mounting them onto Snippet background piece sand then mounting onto VOS cards.  A little TH tag with some fluff and then I 3D mounted the fishies onto the card.

I shall be popping these over to the Playground.  You will find me resting in the hammock. Zzzzzzz.

I would also like to Welcome Sue, Di and Sandy for becoming my latest Followers.  It makes me have a warm fuzzy feeling when I have new followers so Thank You.

Hugs

Lavinia Stamp - Thank You.....

Hello Peeps

Just a short post this afternoon, but I will be back blog hopping later today once I have housey duties finished!  Hate doing housey stuff as it gets in the way of crafting!!  Ho Hum!

Though I am doing the Happy Dance today as I have two new Followers - Bonnie and Toni.  Thank you. Do go check out their blogs as there is some bootiful stuff on them both.

I was recently lucky enough to win the Fairy stamp from my Buddy who runs the Playground which I often frequent.  It didn't take long before hitting the doorstep before I had it inkied up, though I did wait a few days before turning it into a card.

A little masking, some Distress, Archival and Memento inks and Stickles and a whole lorra fun went in to creating this card.  I wish I had taken a photo of the envelope before posting it as I doodled all over it!!!  I have not heard from the recipient yet, but I am sure she has received it by now.  The lilac backing card was from the Snippets box (does anyone's Snippet receptacles ever go down?) so I shall be taking it to a very soggy Playground.  Why not join us by using Snippets to make anything you wish and link up - we really are a friendly bunch you know!

The Challenge over at Lavinia Stamps this month is "Anything Goes" so I shall be putting this in there too.

Thanks for calling by.  See ya all later and hope you have had a good weekend.  Off to clear the spare bedroom ready to strip wallpaper.  Need to redecorate as we have schpecial guests coming from US later this year so want it schpick 'n' span for their arrival!

Hugs

My love for mini albums...

Hello Friends

I am supposed to sharing my Tuesday Layout today, it being Tuesday an'all however, it would appear that the piggin' t'internet problems last night lost it!  Unfortunately I am now typing this in my lunch break in work so cannot reload the pics! Grrr!

Never mind.  I will share the other piccies I loaded up last night which could become scrapbooks if the recipients so wish.

I recently needed to make a Thank You gift and Birthday gift for two special people and so decided to make them similar and at the same time.  As most of you will be aware I do like making mini books so that is what I did.

Here is number one.....
Chipboard covers covered in hessian (or Burlap if you are from over the water) and Bo Bunny paper from a 6x6 pad I bought a while ago.
All bound with my BIA and then decorated with ribbons, some from my Snippets tin.  I personalised the charms that went on them.
The flowers were a mix of paper and fabric which were all dipped in my cauldron err melting pot, which had wax in there.  It was surprising how much wax they all took.  Especially as I got a little carried away and made enough for four!  I brushed all the flowers over with two shades of Perfect Pearls, Kiwi and Rust.
I used my Seeds of Friendship Artistic Outpost stamp on the front with Spiced Marmalade DI and embossed it before distressing the edges.  Those blue flowers I have had forever!
Here are the dividers I made, each stamped with a background and a sentiment added.

And some music as one recipient is a musical gal!

So here is number one....
Number two...
Number three.....
Number four....!  Err, You know I said I got carried away with the flowers!  Well I made two more books too.  One for the Raffle prize for our Annual Summer Lunch at Quilters and I actually made one for myself.  This orange flower was the last of the set my friend brought me back from France!  Love orange.
I used acid free watercolour paper inside so that they can be used for a variety of purposes.  The two original recipients are both artistic and so may wish to sketch in them.  Mine might end up with photos in.

I shall pop these down the Playground later as they contain Snippets.  Why not join us?  I must also find out how the Aussie parrot is doing!

Been Playing Again!!

Hello Friends

Sorry I have not been around much this last few days, but between you and me I have a bit of a topsy turvy few days!!

My weekend started with my friend cancelling our scrappy day on Saturday. I had a nice day weeding and felt pretty darned chuffed with my efforts (three large green bags to go to the tip).  I was happily making my latest quilting project only to receive a phone call from my Dad telling me that my Mum had been rushed in to hospital with a suspected heart attack!

I don't mind telling you that sent me all of a quiver!!  Before you fret, Mum is a little better!  Still in hospital with a kidney infection and undergoing more tests to find out why her chest is painful.  It might just be something to do with the moving of heavy sewing machines last week that my Dad told me about this morning!  Tut Tut!  Not that I would do such a thing at 82!!!  Dad also told me that Mum was a little more perky this morning and he managed to speak to her which settled my mind a little.

So today I thought I would share a couple of cards I made recently when I took delivery of some Spellbinders dies that were going on Ebay very cheap (£10 inc post and brand new never-been-out-of-the-box).  I rummaged in both my Snippets tin for stampings and my Snippets boxes and managed to pull these papers together.  Just love House Mouse Stamps!

I love the way you can alternate and layer these dies to get different effects with the points, and the strip dies are the ones I showed you the other week.
One of these cards is a Thank You card and the other is a Get Well card, which I made just to go in my collection when I had need of it.  Looks like I will be using the Get Well card a little quicker I had planned.

I have also spied a new follower, Lucy and thank you for following me!

Just going to rush off to the Playground with these little cards, but better throw my hat in first as I have not been in there for a few days!

Get Stamping - New Magazine

Hello Friends

I hope you are all having a great Easter weekend!  We at Chez Hettie both had a nice long lie in yesterday and a most gorgeous Italian Fish Stew later in the evening and after several long weeks I enjoyed a nice glass of Merlot too!  Well, what is two days after 41 days of abstination?

I thought I would share some cards with you that I made after wandering through a certain large stationary shop last week and spotting a new card magazine - Get Stamping.  It included a nice sheet of stamps and I just had to set to and play....

This Moustache card quickly got turned into a Thank You card for my neighbour after he kindly took me into work when my car battery was flat one morning. I had not made it with anyone in mind, but I just loved the stamps!

I made these for some up coming birthdays that are coming up, and just because I like them.

Here are the three together with some Tulips that I had been bought recently.  Three CAS cards for my box.  As I used Snippets in these, I shall pop down to the Playground to show the others.   I am just going to slide under the gate before they are closed!!

As for the magazine, I thought it was a great magazine as all the projects were done in conjunction with the stamps that were with the magazine and were suitable for stampers, card makers, scrapbookers alike, with a mix for both male and female projects.  A little pricey but the magazine is bi-monthly so maybe I will stretch to buy the second one when it comes out.

That's all for now Folks.  Thanks for popping by.

Thank You from Dobby

Hello Friends

Hope you are all having a great weekend.  I am scrapping with my Buddy Mandy today.  We promised each other one day per month for scrapping, however, this is the first time this year due to snow and illness.

I thought I would share a card that Dobby asked me to make for him to send to the lovely peeps who he goes to stay with for his holidays when we go away.

I had to put the stamp on the envelope, write the card and pop it in the post box as he could not reach!

I used my SU stamps (bargain on eBay), a Smile stamp from my friend Karen, Sizzix and Tim Holtz dies, ribbon left over from my Christmas Album and Snippets.  Lots of Snippets!

I am going to slip this over the top of the fence before Miss shuts the gates to the Playground in the morning.

Enjoy whatever you are doing this weekend and wrap up warm!!

Hugs

SSS - A Stamp you love but you don't use

Hello Friends

The Peeps over at Simon Says Stamp and Show are this week asking crafters to use a stamp/s that you love but do not use.  After a little thinking and a smackeral of honey (I am a bear of very little brain!) I remembered this Inkadinkado stamp which I bought some time ago (about a year!) but had not really been satisfied with how it had turned out.   I had tried colouring it with markers and Copics but was not really happy with the results.

I started trying to think of different ways I could ink it up and then had a little "Eureka" moment and thought about the watercolour technique which I had learnt on the CC101 course.  I picked out Spiced Marmalade, Ripe Persimmon, Bundled Sage, Peeled Paint, Forest Moss and Gathered Twigs Distress Inks  and inked up my stamp.  A little spritz with water using a mini mister and then I stamped the image on to watercolour paper.  Wow!  Do I now love this stamp!  I got a little carried away and made up 5 images to use on cards and the beauty of this technique is that each image is different!

As for the rest of the card, I used a Paperartsy stamp for the grass at the base using the same green inks as on the image and I stamped some birds using a Tim Holtz stamp.  The orange cardstock is cordinations which I ran through a Tim Holtz embossing folder before sanding and inking with GT and RP inks.  A little ribbon holding a TH tag stamped with a SU stamp and that is my card finished, which I have sent to a very special friend of mine to thank her for a recent gift she sent me.  I hope she likes it!

Thank you guys and gals at SSS for making me look again at this stamp!

I have just realised that I can also enter this into the Addicted to Stamps Challenge which is simply to incorporate stamping into your piece.  I have ticked that box with this card!  It has been a while since I have joined in over there so yippee!

Thanks for calling by and please leave me a comment so I know you have been.

Variations on a Theme - New Stamp!

Hello Friends!

Wow! This weekend is passing so quickly for me, but I have/am been a busy bunny!!  You have to keep moving with the weather being so cold, or else have a large budget to keep the heating on!!

I was fortunate enough to win the Paperartsy stamp from my friend Miss Di at the Playground recently so I thought I would show you a couple of cards which I made to send to two of my Special friends!!

I know they have both been received now so I can show them to you.

The card bases were stamped with various Tim Holtz background stamps in several Distress Inks (don't ask me which I cannot remember) then a layer of cardstock (from the Snippets box) which had been distressed and inked were laid on top.  I then took some cardstock on to which I stamped the stamp using Archival ink and then once dried, I used some of the same colours of the base card stamping and inked the image, distressed and inked the edges and laid on top of the previous piece, at a wonk.

Some trimmings from the Snippets box and my cards were finished.  The mustard velvet ribbon on the first card was from my friend's Snippets box so I hope that is allowed Miss.

Right, I am just putting my coat and hat on and running over to the Playground, as I know my buddy Sandra is waiting for me to go on the seesaw with her!

Tally ho and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

TTFN

Hettie

P.S.  I have just been over the Playground and Miss is talking about catching some peeps drinking wine behind the bike shed. I can assure you that I am not one of them, having given up alcohol and Baileys!!!! for Lent!!
