CC101FB September Challenge

Hello Friends

What a cold, wet, miserable Sunday it is today.  I can tell you that 23 years ago today it was a beautiful day with blue sky, hardly a cloud all day and warm!  Oh yes.  How do I know this?  It was Mine and Mr Hettie's Wedding Day!  So what better day is it then to have a play in the Craft Room and have some fun!!

The guys over at the CC101 Facebook group have had a challenge running all month to emboss a background and use some Tim Holtz Rock Candy Distress Stickles.  I am entering by the skin of my teeth at the 11th hour!!  Here is mine.....

I decided to have a bit of Hallowe'en fun using some new MME stamps which arrived a few days ago.

Here is a little close up of those stickles...

I used a plethora of DIs (Dusty concord, weathered wood, rusty hinge, wild honey, mustard seed, vintage photo, black soot) as well as Jet black archival ink.

Thanks for popping by and please leave me a comment so I know you have called.  Off out to Dinner shortly at our favourite Pub so must fly!!!

CC101 - ATS - Joan's Birthday Card

Hello Friends

If you are looking for the Friday Funny post, don't fret, it is below this one.  I know, I don't usually do two posts in one day but needs must today!

You see I wanted to share with you my Mum-in-Law's birthday card as it is her birthday today!  Happy Birthday Joan!

The Peeps over at the Facebook group of CC101 wanted to see us use one of my favourite techniques "Spritz and Flick" and the Peeps over at ATS wanted to see Clean and Simple, so I mixed the two together and came up with this....

I first made a mask using a 5x7" card, cutting out the centre piece, then inked the centre with Mustard seed and Broken china DIs.  Spritzed and flicked then removed the mask and dried the card.  I used Cobalt Archival ink to ink up my Inkadinkado Hydrangea stamp and stamped this over the centre of the card.

Whilst I was looking for a sentiment to stamp on the card I came across the butterfly stamp and again using the Archival ink I stamped then watercoloured using the same DIs.  I decided against the usual HB as Joan still has the card up I made her two years ago.  Hopefully  Joan will like this one as much as she does love blue.

Have a Great Weekend which hopefully involves plenty of crafting!

Don't forget to leave me a comment so I know you have been.

Hugs

Snippets Card

Hello Peeps

I came across a draft post which I had done some time ago, meaning to show you this card I made.  It was made just as I was undertaking the Creative Chemistry workshop with Mr Holtz and it is one of the techniques which we did on the course.

I am not sure who I sent it to, but I must have been waiting for it to be received before I posted it and guess it must have been received by now.  Or maybe she told me it had been received.  I am losing the plot I think!
I hope you like it.  The technique is brushless watercolour and I made several of these at the same time as I loved the effect and colourway.

Thanks for looking and please leave me a comment.  I LOVE comments!

Mrs Overall of the Playground fame has asked me to link this card to the Snippets Playground - oops!  I have been told!  It is a Snippets card after all I s'pose!!

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 10

Hello Peeps

Happy Easter to you all.  I hope the Easter Bunny has visited you today.  The Easter Bunny knows I am trying to be careful so he very kindly left me some flowers before he headed off to work at stupid o'clock this morning - Thanks Hunny!

Well today I thought I had better finish the Creative Chemistry Class which I have been doing.  The pdf has been on my desk for over a week now but I kinda did not want to finish it as it was soo much fun.  I have learnt such a lot and throughout the course Tim Holtz gave lots of helpful little tips.  For instance did you know this...."if it isn't wet then it is dry"!!!  Very useful tip that one!!

So here it is.......

I did not have the beautiful stamp which Tim used but it is on my list if anyone is reading this!  My birthday is not too far away!!   I love Distress Stickles as they are a very discreet form of bling.  Here is a closeup which hopefully shows them off....

Well I hope you enjoy the rest of your Easter weekend whatever you are doing.

Woo Hoo Post 200 - Flippin' eck Ethyl!! Friday Snippets

Good Evening Peeps and Happy Easter to Y'all!!

I am very surprised to find that this is my 200th posting on this 'ere bloggey thing!  Thank you to all my lovely Followers, including my latest Purple Princess.  Thank You One and All!

Well for tonight's post it is my usual Friday posting of Snippets.  A little tongue in cheek as there are not really alot of Snippets involved but every little Snippet helps ey!!

So here are some Easter cards for my family and friends, so feel free to take one for yourself!

You may notice a little Tim Holtz Creative Chemistry magic involved in that I used my Distress Inks of Dusty concord, Broken china, Wild Honey and Mustard seed to colour the stamp in no particular order and then spray with water using the mini mister before stamping on watercolour paper.  Love it!!  I then covered a card with some lilac cardstock added the image using foam pads, tied a little ribbon around and then made some lace with the TH lace die, snipped a little off and added the Hero Arts flower with some punched leaves (again snippets) and hey presto my card.  I will tell you now I had faffed making these for ages, then decided simple was best!

As I actually made 6 images with the Cross but only needed 4 for Easter cards, I decided to use up the last two in order to make two Sympathy cards.  I don't know about you but I do not like making these when they are needed so if I make them now I can keep them ready for such an occasion when they are needed. I used a darker purple for these and stamped the front.  Hope you approve.

Well, don't forget to join in at the Playground with all the other Snippets crew headed by the holder of the keys Di.   Bagsy the swings tomorrow!!

Happy Easter to you all and don't eat too much chocolate in one go!

Hugs

Creative Chemistry Day 9

Hello Again Peeps

Here we are on Day 9 (for me anyway) of the Creative Chemistry Class.  I have to say that tonight I have created what I think is my favourite tag of the class so far.  Today has been all about Perfect Pearls and different uses.   I have to admit that I LOVE Perfect Pearls as I just love the way they shimmer.  They have a very subtle shimmer and not in your face kinda look.   Hope you like what I have done.

And here is the tag but taken at an angle in the hope that I can show you the shimmery effect of the two Perfect Pearls.

I have to admit that doing the wrinkle free distress thing has never given me great success as I never seem to get much ink on the craft mat.  Now I think I have "got it" by just one thing that Tim has kept saying - press the ink pad down hard.  It sure does work a treat!!

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 6

Good Evening Peeps

Yes!  I am still plugging away but I now only have Days 9 and 10 to go.  Tonight though I have now discovered my new favourite "thing"!  Distress Markers.  I only bought 3 to play with as I wasn't sure how I would get on with them and they are a little expensive if you don't like them, but like them I do!!  Also, where I usually order them are only getting them in in dribs and drabs so there wasn't many to choose from.  I hope they get more in and soon as I now want more!
Here is what I have done with my limited supply - all on watercolour paper as I don't have the Speciality Stamping Paper either!  It is on my Wish List now!

I also stamped the butterflies again spraying with water before stamping like the Watercolour Stamping technique you may have seen on Tim's blog.  I didn't reink the stamp so it is second generation.  Love it!!  Hope you do.  Let me know what you think.

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 5

Hello Peeps

I hope you are having a great weekend.  I don't know what has happened to the weather but it has been a kinda grey dull day today so I have been playing in my craft room today playing catchup with the Creative Chemistry 101 course.  I love the fact that you can go at your own pace with this course and that the videos and instructions will be on there for life!  So for example, the first technique on Day 5 I cannot do as I don't have any Kraft Resist paper so I can go back to this workshop when I do have some.

Anyway on to today's lesson which was all about Distress Stains.  I do not have much of a palette of these stains yet, but even with a limited palette I have really enjoyed today's lesson.  As I said I do not have the Kraft Resist so instead of just having two tags to show you, Tim mentions in the video that you can do Distress Watercolour with stains so I just had to give it a go.  I love it and can see me do more of that in the near future.  So here is today's tags....

Hope you like. It is not too late to join in if you fancy trying it! Click HERE to join in.

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 8

Hello Peeps

I am still trying to play catch up with this course and still LOVING it!!  I actually started these last night in between coming from home and going out to Dancing!!

So Day 8 is all about Resist - No! Not resisting chocolate but paint resist.   Hope you like what I have done.....

I have to say that I love how these have turned out and the fact that the one on the left is a lickle curly is perfectly natural as Tim Holtz has told us - phew!!  The one on the right is a little larger than usual as it was supposed to be done with sticky back canvas.  I don't have any and cannot find my role of canvas so I used a canvas board and a larger stamp 'cos I could.  I think I will be fiddling with that later.  The third technique are some die cut flutterbies using chipboard and then turned into glazed flutterbies by magic!!

Off to see what today's Chemistry lesson involves now.

Creative Chemistry 101 - Day 7

Hello Again Peeps!

I know - TWO posts in one day!  And I haven't done my Scrappy Tuesday posting yet and hopefully I will before I head off to the Land of Nod!

I know I am behind but I have jumped right up to today's lesson so that I don't have soo much catching up to do.  Today is all about embossing powders.  Do join in with the classes over at OnlineCardClasses.  They are full of useful tips and ideas that you cannot always pick up from books!  Here are today's projects....

I must admit that the first tag has to me my favouritist technique and I use it loads and loads.  The middle tag technique I have never been able to get a good result until today!  And the last tag I was a little limited as I only have two colours of Distress Powder because I have not really thought of many situations where I would use it.  Until now!  I want some lighter colours now

Hope you like. It is not too late to join in if you fancy trying it! Click HERE to join in.
