Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! It's back to the beach, and during the Groovy Age, the only way Kid Groove could get sun and sand was in an Archie comic! Pep #258 (July 1971) has a fun "on the beach" story featuring Archie and Reggie vying for the attention of the lovely young nurse at the first aid station. You can guess the shenanigans to come, but hey, it's fun stuff by Tom Doyle, Stan Goldberg, and Jon D'Agostino! Face it, tiger--you've had a..."Stroke of Luck!"

Funny Stuff: "Seeing Stars" by Joe Edwards
Hey, hey, hey, Groove-ophiles! Ya know, we haven't talked about Li'l Jinx here on the Diversions, and that needs rectified! Ol' Groove doesn't remember reading an Archie comic during the Groovy Age without a Li'l Jinx short in it. They were always good for a giggle, with creator Joe Edwards' stories and art always displaying a special Archie Comics house-style charm. Being a teacher by profession and having taken many students on field trips to planetariums, I can especially relate to Pep #229 (March 1969) and Jinx's tale of "Seeing Stars!"

Funny Stuff: "Bronze Me, Big Eye" by Al Hartley
What it is, Groove-ophiles! How 'bout some fun in the sun with Archie and Veronica courtesy Al Hartley? At least, Archie wants some fun--Veronica only wants sun! From Pep #246 (August 1970), here's "Bronze Me, Big Eye!"

Christmas 2016: "Close Trim" by Malmgren and Hartley
Merry Christmas, Groove-ophiles! Ol' Groove loves to turn out the lights, turn on some holiday music, and watch the lights twinkle on the Christmas tree...but setting up and decorating said faux evergreen? Not so much. Perhaps reading all those comicbook stories in which guys like Archie create major disasters out of such a lovely tradition. You know, like the mess he makes in "Close Trim" by Dick Malmgrem and Al Hartley in Pep #261 (October 1971)!
