Mining for Gold(en): "Trouble In Paradise" by Kashdan, Golden, and Wiacek

Check it out, Groove-ophiles! Here's a cool George Kashdan sci-fi fable, beautifully illustrated by artist Michael Golden and inker Bob Wiacek. While the plot of "Trouble In Paradise" might have seemed a far out when Mystery In Space #113 came out in August 1980, but now...it doesn't seem quite so out there at all...

Random Reads: "Primate Patrol" by Kashdan, Landgraf, and Simons

Check it out, Groove-ophiles! Is it any wonder that during the Groovy Age, DC's line of war mags were among their best sellers? I mean, editors like Paul Levitz knew how to get four dimes out of our pockets with the ease of a practiced pickpocket! A Jim Starlin cover featuring armed gorillas dressed in tattered Nazi uniforms? Take my money, DC! George Kashdan's story is kinda cool, too, with it's sci-fi, Planet of the Apes inspired plot (did the folks behind the new POTA flicks read this comic? Hmmm?), but it's the art on "Primate Patrol" that Ol' Groove really digs. Yers trooly always thought that Ken Landgraf and Dave Simons (together or separately) were excellent artists with style that really appealed to me. After you get finished staring at the captivating Jim Starlin cover, flip it back and enjoy this treat from Weird War Tales #89 (April 1980)!

Decent Comics: "Hound You to Your Grave" by Kashdan and Perlin

HoooOOOOOw's it hangin', Groove-ophiles! Today we have a sinister short by two journeyman talents, George Kashdan and Don Perlin. Hopefully you won't think Ol' Groove's gone to the dogs when you read "Hound You to Your Grave" from Secrets of Sinister House #16 (October 1973)...

Arf, arf, baby!

Tuesday Two-fer: "Time-Warp" by Barr, Barretto, and Adkins and "Plague" by Kashdan, Newton, and Mitchell

Gobble, gobble, Groove-ophiles! Let's talk turkey: Time Warp was a pretty cool sci fi comic! Too bad it was so short-lived. Just take, for example, November 1979's Time Warp #3! Under it's way-too-pulpy-cool Mike Kaluta cover there are a ton of cool stories--including the twisted tale that lead off the ish, "Time Warp" (What an appropriate title!) by Mike W. Barr, Ed Barretto, and Dan Adkins...

Then, there's the issue's final sci-fi shocker by George Kashdan, Don Newton, and Steve Mitchell, "Plague"!

And if you're in the mood for more Time Warp wonderment, just click the Time Warp link over there in the Stream of Comicbook Consciousness section! Time Warp! It's not just a campy dance number any more!
