Secretaries Day Just for You Card

I made this tag in 2014  and if you look at this post you can see I removed the Miss You sentiment. I don't send many Miss You type cards but I liked the tag. So I offed the sentiment label and used the tag for a Secretaries Day card. It worked well because the tag has dimension and the card is square. Perfect qualities for a hand delivered card rather than one that goes through the mail.

My new sentiment is by Lawn Fawn and is on dahlia die cut by Spellbinders. The purple background cardstock is by Coordinations and was dry embossed. Then I ran an emery board over the embossing to reveal the white like core of the paper.

Baby Card with Chalk Markers

The chalk markers are by Chalkola and you can get them at Amazon US and Amazon UK for a low price. You can get 20% off your purchase price on Amazon by using the code CHALK20A at the check out. They have a set of 10 beautiful colors that have a 6 mm bullet tip for writing or drawing. The chalk marker flows very well after the initial prepping the nib, which is super easy to do and your kids will probably do it for you. I think these will be popular with teachers because they are great for chalkboards and dry erase boards. You can also give your kids hours of fun time playing and creating with the new Chalk Markers. The markers are suggested for Non Porous surfaces but I'm using them on paper and having a great time with them.

I just love the outcome of this card. I don't want to sell it because it's so dang cute. Starting with the Baby die cut, I colored white chalk marker onto what was grey cardstock and then I put polka dots on those letters. It's not perfect but I like the imperfections. The nib of the chalk marker is perfect for making the polka dots.

I followed a sketch at Scrapbook.com for one of their challenges. The white and brown die cuts were cut out using my Cricut and the Art Philosophy cartridge. The word baby Is also a Cricut cut from Cricut Fonts and Basic Shapes which I found in the Cricut Craft Room software. I did dry emboss the brown circle with a Darice folder. The flowers I used are by Petaloo and in the center is a baby bottle eyelet. The leaves of the flowers are a Elizabeth Crafts die that I die cut them out in white cardstock by Recollections and inked them with Ranger's Walnut Stain distress ink. Then I sprayed them with water mixed with Perfect Pearls so they would shimmer. The background paper is by Studio G.

myStamp Box

I have a new card by

I used stamp sets:

The flower in the center of the flowers is heat embossed with yellow embossing powder by Stamp N Plus. I fussy cut it out and adhered it to the Petaloo flower and then to the Design Objectives die cut.

The patterned paper is by Studio G that I found the whole 6x6 paper pack for $1.00 at Meijer. (Just goes to show how much they jack up prices for paper crafting. It's not right. smh)

I used patterned paper and cardstock by Recollections. The leaf is by Prima and the flower by Petaloo. The center of the flower is by Forever in Time. I stamped the scarecrow with Hero Arts black ink and then colored him in with powdered chalk combined with paint both by Stamp N Plus. I then die cut him out with a Spellbinders die and inked the inside edges with distress ink. The sentiment is stamped using Close to my Heart orange ink.

Birthday Wishes

Today's card is a longer rectangle then I usually do but it must have been OK because my Mom snatched it up when she came over for birthday cards. I have a bunch of odd shaped envelopes that need to be used so you may see more of these odd sized cards-well odd for me. I usually do the standard size cards that Michael's sells which is 4x5.5. They run them on sale twice a year for 3 packs of 25 for $5. I load up when they run that special.

Anyway, The background stamp is by Deep Red Stamps and can be found HERE. I used Stampin Up ink to stamp the stamp and then used Ranger Distress inks on the edges. I applied three different colors to get this look. I sprayed that whole piece with water and Perfect Pearls and let it dry.

I adhered the background piece to Provo Craft cream colored cardstock and then to the card base which is Bazzill. The flowers are by Oriental trading Co, Making Memories and Petaloo. The brads are by Close to my Heart and the center of the white flower is by Forever in Time. The brown ribbon is by Stampin Up and the polka dot ribbon is by American Crafts. Last but not least the word stickers are by Momenta.

Thanks for stopping by to check out my card.

Birthday card

I have a birthday card to share today. I tried doing the Velveteen technique with the background but found that the polka dots don't give the best look with the flowers stamps.  The flower stamps are by Fiskars and Imaginisce. The patterned paper and sentiment are by The Paper Loft. The flowers are by Stamping and Scrapping, Petaloo and Recollections. The centers are stickers I bought at a dollar store. Thanks for looking.

Chalk-Ah-Lot Dry Embossed chalk background card

Edited May 2021. See sidebar for explanation

For this card I mixed my chalk with paint and painted it onto the embossing folder. I then ran it thru my Cuttlebug, removed the paper from the folder and waited for it to dry. I think the final results are fun. I will definitely being doing this technique again with a different folder.

Shannon's Sentiments Preview Day 3

Welcome to our final preview day!!!!!  We're combining it with our usual Saturday challenge today so you'll get lots of eye candy for the new releases.

Today we're featuring the Getaway Car and Bride and Groom images as well as the Just Married and Lots of Thanks Add-on sets. The full sets with a blog hop will be starting at 6am EST on April 15th at the "Shannon's Sentiments" blog. We will also be hosting a chat at our CDAC group page at 8pm EST on the 15th as well.

For this weeks challenge I would like to see you use three flowers and no patterned paper. Cardstock only please:) I made my card out of the Core'dinations cardstock that has an aqua colored core to it. So once I embossed it and sanded the embossed area the aqua color came shining through. Love that paper. I used a couple of flowers from Petaloo that I sprayed with glimmer mist to make them match the rest of my card and one flower from Oriental Trading Co. My sentiment comes from the Lots of Thanks add-on set that will be released tomorrow:)

Please be sure to check out the other DT members cards.

To play along, just add your post link to the Mr. Linky widget on the sidebar for the May challenges on Shannon's Sentiments blog. Mr. Linky will close for the month on Friday, June 3rd at 11:59pm EST. Please don't include your link in just the comments....for fear it will get lost along the way and not counted toward the monthly prizes.

The rules are the same as always.....
At the end of the month one $10 gift certificate to the Sentiments store will be given to one random winner picked from all participants each month. There will also be one free image ($3 value) given to the one player that participates the most each month. Rules:
1) You are encouraged to use an image from Shannon's Sentiments, but it's not required. (Check out the many freebies available at the store.)
2) Each player may contribute as many entries as they'd like for each challenge.
3) Blog posts must be linked back to the challenge post with your actual blog post, not your general blog link, or gallery link using the Mr. Linky widget. Links included in the comments section only will not be included in the monthly drawing.
4) Your entry must be new art created for this challenge. You can combine it with other challenges.
