Scoring!

Last Sunday, the fatique of the Skydive still in my body, my sewing was going to s%^t,
so I packed the kid into the car for a treat.
She's loved it from the first time she tried it.
Now the ramp is gone (bumpers still up though)

When did she gets so big?!

 She very quickly worked out how much she beat me by!
 At least I was helping her maths!
(yes, she beat me while I was using the bumpers, how embarrassing!)

Once the bribe bowling was over, I got to go into Ikea with no complaints. I was definitely the winner out of that one!
Where, among other things, we got some chair pads (no more sweaty legs sticking to the chair on a hot day)

And the 'bargain corner' gave her a proper chair for her desk

I also got a special delivery during the week, the ultimate score. The new Flea Market Fancy range! I missed out first time around, and wasn't going to let it happen again!

This is the 21 prints;

and these are my particular favorites.

Plus I still have my collection of Picnic and Fairground.

I just have to be strong and chop them up! They'll still be beautiful!

Makeover Part 1

Have had plenty of things to blog lately; just lost the blog-jo for a while. But am back with my latest project.
I decided for my birthday this week to give the sewing room a makeover, a bit more professional and sparkly, with great ideas from MsCurlypops. (Thanks for letting me be a 'copycat from Ballarat', Cam).

so here's the before (very tidy, too)

there's lots of stuff done on the floor in here, which isn't the most comfortable all the time!

When I saw Ikea had free delivery this week, I thought I was meant to shop! Unfortunately, 2hours in a queue and missing the delivery due to a 'not my fault' error means I may pay the $35 next time....
but they finally arrived!

the room was cleaned out;

helpers enlisted;

instructions carefully read (what sort of idiot would do this anyway?)

Of course, this instruction was completely ignored- I NEEDED to prove I could 'do it myself'

stay tuned for part 2....(don't hold your breath or anything though)

blogtoberfest day 22

I had a little stop in Ikea today (do you know you can enter the Richmond store throughout the checkouts (illegally), hit the bargain corner FIRST, then back track? And that there is s shortcut from candles to textiles?)

I picked up this fabric (you cut your own fabric and weigh it at Ikea, I cheated and bought a precut piece someone had cut, weighed and rejected)

and by tonight, an A line skirt.

Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy.

Let's bowl, let's bowl, let's rock and roll

This song has been in my head all day- from what is probably the worst movie of all time. Hey, I might lose fans by saying it, but come on, it's true!!
Anyway, despite not knowing all the words, I hummed along as I took the Little Miss (still wearing my top, happy mummy) to Richmond yesterday. The concentration.....

and the cheeky brat poses after nearly whippin' my ass! A draw, 88 all, embarrassing! I have a strict "no letting the kid win" rule for all games, mainly because I hate losing, but so far this week I haven't won a hand of Uno, Go Fish is becoming my LEAST favourite game, and bowling may become an annual event. Too much breast milk is my excuse!! (said very tongue-in-cheek)

So, as punishment (which didn't really work, she likes it as much as me) we rode the silver escalator to Ikea. As well as candles, I picked some amazing fabrics....
this one (already nabbed by child as a bag)

This gorgeous one that I split with Cam

and this one, all for me me me! Yum.

The other reason I went, was to help improve the lounge room. This op shop couch is an Ikea one, and I like the soft squishy cushions, so

I bought some extra inserts for $8.99 each, and made covers from the stash! A fourth is waiting to be made up, ran out of time)

If anyone finds a huge lace tablecloth a la the red one, I'm happy to buy it off you, the pink and yellow aren't doing it for me! I need to coordinate....

Knock Knock

Ok, don't know what these pics have done, will keep going to see what happens. After my woeful blog yesterday (as in how feeling sorry for myself was I?) I packed us up and headed to...Ikea. Me and the rest of Melbourne. I thought there was someone famous there or something. Photo by 4 yr in back of car as we left, she is way too good at using my camera. I didn't go with anything in mind, maybe some inspiration, I thought...

and came across 2 of these baskets for kiddie's expedit bookcase- great for the Mr Men and Little Miss Collection. Took us 2 laps of the store to find them- I find going against the 'sheep' great, everyone got out of way! Little Miss Tired....

rested in the trolley, after a kiddie meal in the cafe. You could seriously spend a lot of time in that joint. I had ridiculously bad morning sickness with this one, and for some reason went to this Ikea- walking through the rug section STILL gives me nausea! She dressed herself this morning too- I thought it was a good look, I didn't dare mention the cold legs, but she didn't complain about them either.

Also got this cute little shelf, it now has the kettle on the top, and the toaster on the middle shelf. Was all too high for the top of the microwave, so is now next to it. The toaster crumbs (-more annoying than......I don't know what) can be swept out form underneath. I will keep the bread in the bottom rung, and maybe a teacup- cute!

Lastly, my favourite shopping mate, despite what I said in my last post!

Strategic seat belt too, how funny, she is a ham at the best of times, let alone when there is a camera. Here's a sample:
"Knock Knock"
Who's there?
"Courtney"
Courtney who?
"Courtney fish lately?"

As I can only put 5 pics (?) I will post later with my quilt pics
