New projects

 I have a whole bunch of new stuff I want to make at the moment. I started to make a list, and it was getting a bit big!

this list...and more!

I've got some spankin' great fabric to do it with...

A new blanket has been cast on for Henry.

And I've joined in a monthly sampler... those deer sucked me right in!

I'm revisiting the hexies too, a nice quick craft for the couch. the plan is to make some purses for a market stall I'm thinking of doing in March...

I had to show off this great sheet set I was gifted by Cam, either to use as sheets or cut up for quilts.

 Definitely to make something for this little dude! 5 weeks and he fits into this size 0 vintage onesie (found in Little Miss' old toy clothes :) )

Blogtoberfest Day 26

I needed a little pick me up today...it was one of those roller-coaster days. Good.....not good.....good.
I went into Spotlight to 'chill out', I always find browsing in there on my own pretty relaxing....weird, I know.
They have a good deal, too, you buy the VIP mag for 99c, and get a $10 voucher. So really, you get a $9 voucher.
still, $9 is $9!

I came across these kits, I remembered seeing them on the Leutenegger blog

Of course, I'm on the lookout for the iphone cases!
oh, and this will become a pendant.

Don't know what's wrong with me!

Years and years and years ago, before I started being obsessed with sewing, I used to bake and cook a lot. I think once I realised sewing stuck around a bit longer (and there were no dirty dishes) I preferred it, and I went for quick and easy meals.

We're off to my sister's tonight for dinner, and I offered to bring sticky date pudding. Often I offer to bring something, then run out of time as I chose another activity, buying something on the way there! (C'mon, who hasn't done that before?) Today I had the sudden urge to cook!

2 sticky date cakes (will turn into puddings when I make the butterscotch sauce from scratch!)
Choc chip cookies- I wanted to make half with walnuts, and half without so the kid could take them to school, when she suggested choc chip and Craisin! Obviously she wants to eat all of them at school haha

and some multi-tasking; while these were in the oven, I was

browning some Marylands for a slow cooker dinner- FOR TOMORROW NIGHT! Argggh, I've turned into a meal planner! Hope it's only a one off haha. People may accuse me of reading Mummy blogs haha.

mmm, chicken curry!

Never fear, there has been sewing. And before you think 'wow, how does she do it?'- reminder, I am a sole parent who's child sleeps from 8pm on wards; I got to bed at 11pm; and now on weekends she plays in her room, requesting 'space' (as long I remember to feed her at intervals). Amazing how much time you can find in the day!

The Zakka book has a sew along I thought I'd join in on, they do a project a week, so I had a bit of time to catch up (3 weeks in). I don't think I'll be making much in linen, just looking to use up the stash a bit. And make buying the book worthwhile by using it! *shamefully hangs my head when I think about all the books I have*

Couch time cross stitching;

and a new do!

Off to do the stinking dishes haha

A while between posts.

Oops, time is getting away from me! Have finished a few projects off this week.

It this one, unfortunately our of print but still on Ebay or Etsy (Butterick 4758 if you're interested). It's like a Tardis bag, fits in heaps! And the fabric is from this range, picked up at the Lark sale the other week.

another cross stitch finished;

I stopped off here last Friday for a quick look; visiting the Ballarat Patchwork stand was way too tempting for me (a bright treat in a sea of beige is my thinking). Emma and her mum were run off their feet!

Jodie had to miss out due to her run of bad luck, but check out her little display!

I got all inspired to finish these babies off. With 3 new baby's on the way, I made 2
of these for my sister to give out, and 1 for our cousin.

 Pattern is from here

chenille backing;

and a close up of the binding; yellow on yellow

purple sheet on purple;

and pink on pink.

Hope the little bubbas love them too!

Lucky girl

My Little Miss woke up to a surprise this morning- a late night of TV meant I finished off the slooowww craft, and turned it into a cushion (that was much quicker!). Don't look too close, I didn't wash it and there's a nice big grey pencil mark on it!

I backed it in rare red chenille, one of the harder ones to come by. This piece is a bit faded,
but I figure it'll be under the window, and fading looks good, I think- very vintage!
If you like the design, DMC have a few in that range, I'm thinking of getting the owl and love birds....because she needs more cross stitch cushions!

flannel flowers cushion is upside down!

And my poor slow cooker-a lovely piece of corned beef was nearly done, as I went to turn it (I know you are supposed to leave them, but I was going to bed, and wasn't sure if it should stay hot overnight) when I dropped the lid- onto the bench! Little bits of glass flew about- the corned beef was saved, and cut off all the outer bits in case of glass. Cam got half, she was confident I got it all!

I'm now on the lookout for a new lid. Anyone know where I can get one?

On the road again...

The Little Miss and I had another car trip yesterday, up to Castlemaine for a few hours. It wasn't too hard a drive- after our stuff was done, we headed back home via Daylesford, with beautiful scenery like this....

and this

We stopped at Lark to pick up my raffle prize I won after entering on Saturday at the market. Not a bad prize for 5 tickets! There is a beautiful cross stitch kit, some yummy 50% wool 50%silk I will make myself something with, chocolate eggs (say no more) and some wool that's destined for a giveaway. It was all donated by Purl's Palace.

Purls Palace and Threadneedle Craft are supporting this great Craft Experience, which coincides with another Makers Market, which might be my first market this year! I'm planning on making some lunch bags, that's for sure! And a few new things....
But back to now. Dropping in to Threadneedle Craft was great- 2 of these little kits came home with me, and I can't stop doing it! Slooooow craft, perfect for sitting STILL on the couch, something I'm not very good at, but should do more of.

And I'm trying to decide if this is for me- or the other 'people' in the house!
