Her Birthday Part 1

So a kid having a birthday on a Tuesday, in the middle of a full week of work was not what I call practical! and I din't want another big party, so planned some fun things for the Sunday before it.

We were lucky enough through Girl Guides to receive some free tickets to an advance screening of this movie. I knew nothing about it, and wasn't sure if the girl would like it, but- AWESOME! The only thing it doesn't have is romance, but as the 'tweenie' movies of boy-meets-girl are already are hit in this house, I was kinda glad! Jokes, action, thrills, we LOVED it, so do yourself a favour when it hits the screens!

The we headed home for 'afternoon tea' with a few close friends.

Preparation began last night...

sewing is my love, not baking anymore, but I realised I have a young girl to teach, who's a willing student....

and then the cutting!

2 sleeps until she's 8!

Ta Da!!! I have seen many of these in blogland over the year, and knew I had to try it. Mild panic last night had me ring my pal for advice- thanks Cathie!

I had a pavlova too, hey, why not?

I decided to give her an early treat, the (god damn) softie she's wanted for yonks. I had to buy a new printer to make him, as there were no inkjets at work, and my old one wouldn't work with the new laptop. Jodie's instructions were great; I still managed to stuff up the first one, and was so happy the 2nd one made it!

(excuse the blue food colouring finger, that's nothing compared to the day before!!)
that says "you're awesome-sauce', by the way.

Stayed tuned for more....

ANOTHER cake!

I'm touched so many people like my little girl, and go to an effort for her. One person in particular is Superpops, aka Curlypops, who is the 'Auntie' with the mostest.

We were invited over this afternoon with pressie and cake (to which I took fabric and
 ideas, of course!)

The pressie was liked- I checked in the car, she really did like it, Cam!

It's just the right size for a snack and game on the go. (Admire the festive nails, people)

And has pride of place at the head of the bed, not down the bottom with all the others (maybe so she can play some sneaky DSi games overnight?)

My idea changed when I saw this fabric, and quickly whipped up a tote for the teacher.

And came home with this! I should have known it wasn't loved by the way it was thrown on the garage floor, but I thought it had potential. One of the few times Cam and I have disagreed over fabric. What do you guys think? Yay or nay?

My Creative Space

Oh, yay, I remembered to photograph AND post on a Thursday for a change, so am playing along again this week.

It's a busy one, creativity wise- a 7 yr b'day party on not much money, plus trying to make something different than an outfit etc.

I saw an idea over here that I refashioned in my brain, and this is how it's looking so far....

I hope it carries over to tomorrow (my creativity, that is, NOT the project) and I make a masterpiece using this mould.

The child asked if they would use this on Masterchef, I said of course!

The end results will be after the weekend!

See here for more spaces.
