Finally, a footstool!

So anyone familiar with the drama of the footstool will probably understand my reluctance at having another go (go on, go back and read it for laughs!). Having to throw out the last one, when I found this one for a few dollars, I didn't touch it for ages! Just used and accepted it's vinylly ugliness.

When I found this cushion on Mothers Day at Savers, I did plan to use it for the couch. But then I had the idea....

Ta Da!

I used glue- after the last pull apart disaster, I simply glued this piece (cut, interfaced and sewn onto the denim) onto the vinyl, and added a few tacks for decorative and stability purposes.

The understand was all raw, so copying off the original cover a make an undergarment...

already well used!

I'm still here

Wow, my blogging has been a bit sparse lately, I have a few reason. Number 1 is my slow computer! Not the Internet speed, my old dear can't put up- with all I ask of it! So a new laptop is in the planning phase.

Also is just being busy! I'm now a working full time single parent (for the same employer), no more half days, I'm pretty pooped when I get home, so have only really been crafting, but then not blogging about much.

I scored a table tennis table over the school holidays (2-3 weeks ago) and then plan was is to have it in the garage, folded down for when I needed to baste. I was impatient.

this shot makes it look OK

but in this shot, you can see how I didn't have much room in the house! I invited some friends over Saturday afternoon, and Friday night was the only time I could clean, so I decided to put it down on my own....

It's not dead dead, just a little bit broken. To be continued.....

And remember this project? The lovely lady at Clark Rubber cut me a medium density foam square, and gave me the tip of using calico to pull the sides down, and therefore round the edges off.

Unfortunately today I found out that Masonite and staple guns don't mix. I need to use
upholstery tacks.

I'm nothing if not persistent!

Finished!

Yep, I finished something this week I can actually blog about, I'm pretty happy with it!
And so is she, more importantly!

It was a pretty straightforward pattern, it wasn't too long between buying and making too! It wasn't hard to get her to pose in it, but after a game of 'downball' with the neighbour, it was declared 'too hot' to wear (perfect for winter, then)

(don't know what this face was for)
the inside of the hood was an old cushion cover!

I rather like the pockets!
Little Miss got crafty with it on the weekend, and these babies arrived.

and she got one of me stuffin' the footstool.

(that was definitely Take 1!)

Revamp Part 1

I have been seeing cool little footstool makeovers all over blogland

I counted my lucky starts when this one was at the oppy today for $5

I raced home and got to work (denying the kid her promised bike ride)

OK, we're down to 2 layers unpicked, but the 2nd layer seems to have 3 pieces sewn together....

Back to vinyl. Wow, I thought, someone's covered over this? But the corners
were giving it away.....

The legs came off pretty easily, they are a nice plastic.....

The kid helped me out with some action shots. I nearly broke a sweat!

Hmm...

Right back to a pillow (as in on the bed) squished into a pillow case!

Lets just say, there was a LOT of dirt, I used sandpaper, pliers and elbow grease and
here's what I ended up with!

Hmmm, could've gone to Bunnings for that......
