This week I'm obsessed with... Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum!

You have probably noticed the shiny look that everyone on screen and in the magazines seems to be sporting these days. I thought it meant that they weren't getting enough powder touch-ups but apparently looking shiny is a thing. 

I'm always willing to give a trend a try so I've been testing out different products that promise the "glazed donut" look and have come to the conclusion that I want to glow, not shine - which makes this new serum from Clinique perfect for my needs:

Clinique Moisture Surge Active Glow Serum - 30ml - $65, 50ml - $86 - a lightweight serum with a milky texture that gently exfoliates, hydrates and boosts radiance with a formula powered by 5% lactic acid (AHA), hyaluronic acid and vitamin C.

 

Exfoliates: promotes skin’s natural cell turnover to reveal fresher, smoother skin and help other ingredients absorb more easily.

I loves me a serum and a serum that does a whole bunch of things in one easy formula has a special place in my heart because it appeals to my innate laziness. It soaks in easily, gives a nice glow that looks healthy, not like I ran out of powder, and layers perfectly under makeup without piling. If you have dryer skin you can add a layer of Moisture Surge 100H Auto-Replenishing Hydrator on top but my combination skin didn't need to, the serum added plenty of moisture that lasted all day. And of course as I expect with Clinique products it is allergy tested, 100% fragrance free and safe for sensitive skin.

I prefer a serum at night and a serum that is meant to be worn just at night is actually hard to find so I was delighted to discover this one! If you like the idea of retinol but have sensitive skin so have found it irritating in the past this is the one to try - I didn't have any issues with it at all and it has been so beneficial to my skin's tone and texture that I will be picking up another bottle when this one is done!

I think this might be my favourite out of the bunch - I've been using it with my Clarisonic Opal for a couple of months now and my eye area looks so smooth and rested. I also really appreciate the 30ml sizing - twice as large as most regular eye products but not twice the price!

A change in weather means a change to my skin care - cold temperatures start to dry out my skin so it's time to break out more moisturizing products and here are 3 that will be in my winter rotation for sure:

Vitamin C is a powerhouse skin care ingredients that you really need more of in your life. Not only does it do all the wonderful things that you would want - hydrate, brighten, promote collagen production, help fade hyperpigmentation, protect against sun damage - it is also totally compatible with other skin care actives, so you can add it to your routine without having to take anything away that you might already love. Of course the downside to vitamin C products is that the ones that work best can also often be expensive - totally worth it, but not in everyone's budget - so here are a few of my faves that won't break the bank:
