Blast from the past - Finesse Firm Hold Mousse!

Is that really me in all my 80's glory? Damn skippy it is and I looked bitchin'! But let me tell you, it wasn't easy getting that much volume into my extremely fine hair - a teasing brush and Finesse Mousse were the only things that worked - so I was surprised and pleased when I recently discovered that it's still around, the packaging has changed but my hair still loves it!

That's a lot of new products and my big question was if I had to stick to just using the products in one collection or if it was okay to mix and match from all three lines - I have coloured hair, which is also fine, and at this time of year, dry - and I was assured that it was absolutely fine to do that and is the way the line is meant to work - like making a personal prescription for your hair! 3 must have body-building products for fine hair from Shu Uemura!

As anyone with fine hair knows, it's a fine balance between apply just enough product to add volume but not too much so as to weigh hair down - and the right product, well that's a whole other issue! Luckily a line I love, Shu Uemura Art Of Hair has several products perfect for pumping up the volume on us fine haired gals - my top 3 are:
Shu Uemura Ample Angora Volumizing Light Foam - 132g - $42 - with a unique soft foam texture that melts instantly on contact with the hair fiber to add body and volume - enriched with buds of Japanese cedar - from which the most intense cellular vitality emerges from its bud - to gently give volume and a texturized finish to fine hair.

I use this one when I want all-over body and volume but don't have time and/or energy to blow dry - I just spread a small ball of foam through damp hair and let it air dry for volume and a bit of texture!

Shu Uemura Fiber Lift Protective Volumizer - 150ml - $42 - a clear, lightweight gel that creates voluminous styles with lasting hold and natural shine and delivers lasting support from root to end while helping to protect from heat and external aggressions. This one is perfect when I want to add lift to my roots - I use a dime sized dollop of product rubbed between my fingers and applied to my roots and then blow dry with my head upside down - for va va voom volume!

Even better, it also works great as a dry shampoo - my hair has a nasty habit of starting to look kind of oily  in the afternoon but a swipe of this to my bangs and the roots of my part instantly banishes the greasies - tip my head upside down and tousle it in and it refreshes the body too!
