A painful accident.

--On the 22d instant Mrs. Eli Sprecher, her sister and another lady were returning from a funeral in a carriage, and as they descended the steep hill leading from the Tanker meeting- house to the Williamsport and Greencastle turnpike, about 4 miles northwest of this town, the horse became frightened and ranaway. At the bottom of the hill, the carriage was upset, and the ladies were thrown out, Mrs. Sprocher sustaining a severe fracture of the ankle. The other ladies were not seriously hurt, although the carriage was smashed to pieces.--Hagerstown (Md.) Herald.
