Correspondence of the Richmond Dispatch.
from Chimborazo Camp.

Chimborazo Camp, Howitzer Battalion, May 31, 1861.
I trust you will pardon the liberty I am now about to take; it is to resort to the medium of your columns to return to the ladies of Church Hill our most sincere and heartfelt thanks for their kindness and genuine hospitality, bestowed upon us since our encampment here. They have been truly generous in furnishing us with the delicacies of the season, and they may rest assured that it is duly appreciated by the Howitzers; and when called upon the field of battle, will strike a heavy blow in defence of them and this proud old Commonwealth which they have the honor to represent.

Our boys are well and in fine spirits, but impatient to meet the invading foe, which they promise to give the warmest reception that powder, ball and shell can afford. We are anxiously awaiting orders to march to some point where an engagement is likely soon to take place.

Vigilance.
