His son Seth and son-in-law Jacob Caldwell were appointed administrators of his estate 6 Oct. 1746. His parentage is not satisfactorily ascertained. Dr. Bond conjectured that he was son of John (4) of Cambridge. (Hist. Wat., p. 293.) On further investigation, he assigned him a place along the grandchildren of Deac. Thomas Hastings of Watertown. (Ibid., P. 791.) The latter supposition is certainly the more probable; but I have been unable to find absolute proof of its correctness.
