The Mauritian Girl

Luka
This is Luka. A very photogenic girl. Spotted her at the lakes on Thursday. She was out walking her dog. Luka is an aspiring writer. She enjoys making comics, but is yet to publish anything of her work. Her studies takes up most of her time. She grew up on Mauritius, her big hobby back then was swimming. I haven't taken as many portraits this year so it was fun with an impromptu photo shoot with the photogenic redhead! Enjoy the slideshow.

Beatrice

Beatrice I was on my way home after a rather unsuccessful day of photography when I spotted a blond girl with silver colored shoes. So I decided to ask her for a portrait. This is Beatrice. From Västerhaninge. Still in secondary school. But she has already decided on her future. Beatrice is a future economist. Her hobbies include working out at the gym and playing classical pieces on the piano. It was a tricky shoot, the wind picked up. I used one focus point and aimed for one of her eyes, but on a few of the photos the camera locked on to her blond hair that was flying left and right!

Michelle

Michelle
It was the warmest day of the year so far when I met Michelle in Handen on Friday. She had just been to the gym and seemed very upbeat (go endorphines!). She is studying to become a radiology nurse and is working as one this Summer. Come August she will take a week off and visit Barcelona.

Ananya

Ananya High Heels
Who doesn't like shoes? I have to confess that the first thing I noticed when I spotted Ananya in Handen a while back was her high heels. And she had no trouble walking in them. She is a student who, if everything goes according to plan is a future dentist. Ananya moved to Sweden four years ago from Bangladesh. She lived in a city and the differences between the two countries are very big. She enjoys travelling and visited Germany recently, she has also been back to the old country once.

With The Warm Wind In Her Hair

With The Warm Wind In Her Hair
It was very windy when I met Anja in Handen. I decided to try a few portraits with the pancake lens and this close-up portrait is one of them . Anja is smitten by Britain, she likes everything about Great Britain. In the future she might work as a speech-language pathologist if everything goes as planned. Oh, and she has very photo shy friend called Matilda.

Strike a Pose

Strike a Pose
The Summer in Sweden is short. Too short. The days are long and the darkness of Winter are soon forgotten during the (sometimes) warm evenings. Theme Day at City Daily Photo. Celebrating Summer. This is Tora. She screams Swedish Summer to me. From her blonde hair to her Summer outfit and of course the nice tan. Although a recent trip to the Mediterranean helped a lot with that. Tora will be back studying Economics after the Summer break. She will spend the rest of the Summer in Sweden with visits to Gothenburg and of course Gotland, which can be a magical place during the Summer.

Showing a bit of leg

Moa Showing a bit of leg
Moa is a secondary school student that would like to work in the fashion industry in the future. I noticed her long black slit dress and figured I needed to take her portrait. Top portrait shot with the 85mm lens, second photo with the 18-55 standard lens.

A Lipstick Portrait

Red Lipstick I have a confession, a brightly colored lipstick will make me look twice. This is Foroozan Bahrami, (Iranian name). And she really has a lipstick that is hard to miss. I noticed her in Handen yesterday and decided to ask her for a portrait. She seemed very pleased to be photographed and that always makes me very happy. Foroozan lives in Haninge. She is a secondary school student, and a future engineer. She works extra at a restaurant. On her free time she enjoys hanging out with her friends.

A Blue Eyed Girl

The Blue Eyed Girl Madde & MacBook
It was one of those warm and sunny Autumn days. I noticed a girl near the commuter station in Västerhaninge. She was listening to music while working on her MacBook so I obviously had to interrupt her and ask for a photo. Madde is a secondary school student, she was waiting for a friend so I had time to try a few photos with the new Prime lens. Second photo is a Brenizer method photo. It consists of 15 photos stitched together, I put the focus on Madde's laptop just to try something different.

The Virgo

The Virgo
This was the first street portrait I took with the new Canon 85mm lens. This is Jimina. I noticed her outside the mall in Handen few days ago. She is a student at the entrepreneur college, Riksäpplet, and a future chef. Her interests include clothing and fashion. The tattoo says that she is a Virgo. It will take some time getting used to shooting portraits with this lens compared to the nifty fifty, but it will probably be fun.

Black Butler

Black Butler
This is Sara. Dressed like Ciel Phantomhive in the Black Butler. She told me that there's a lot of her in that character. She was on her way to a friends place when we met in Västerhaninge. Sara is a secondary school student. She is good at graphic design and comic drawing. When she graduates from secondary school she wants to study at Berghs School of Communication in Stockholm. She also told me that she owns a Canon 550 and the nifty fifty lens, obviously she is a very smart girl!

A future astrophysicist

A future astrophysicist
I was enjoying coffee at the cafe yesterday. I noticed a girl with red hair (have a thing for them),at the next table and made a mental note about asking her for a portrait. When I was ready to shoot she was gone! But as I looked around I spotted her entering a flower shop so I headed that way. This is Rebecca. At the moment she's a secondary school student but has already decided on her future. Theoretical astrophysics is her subject. If and when that happens she would like to wok at the Esrange Space Center. Her hobbies today include reading, photography and music. She is a huge fan of Håkan Hellström and have seen him live nine or if it was ten times. This is a Brenizer style portrait made from 17 photos.

The Shrink

The Shrink Jogging in Style
I shot three portraits in Handen last Friday. This was the last one. Meet Marta. A university student, at least for a few more weeks. Later this month she can call herself a psychologist. She stays fit by working out at the gym, and by jogging which is what she had done when I spotted here. It was a very warm day so she was planning to head over to Lake Rudan for a swim. I like how she had matched her sneakers with the lipstick.

Elin

Elin Ray Bans & Denim Shorts
Elin was on her way to a shopping centre in Handen when I spotted her red hair yesterday. I have a thing for redheads which I told her about. If I see a girl with red hair I usually ask for a portrait. Very windy as you can tell, and very warm, at least for a Swedish summer day, I'm guessing around 25C. Elin is a student who works extra to get some money. She doesn't have any real plans for the future just yet. Spending this summer in Sweden, and just like Rebecka the girl I met yesterday, Elin visited the Summerburst festival last weekend.

I'm a dreamer

You may say i'm a dreamer but i'm not the only one
Lennon quote
This is Jasmine. I met her in Handen. It was the tattoo on her back that I first noticed. Pegasus and a quote from a John Lennon song. You may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one. Another tattoo shows an angel on one side of her arm and a devil on the other. Jasmine is a psychology student. On her free time she enjoys horseback riding.

Johanna

Johanna
Johanna was heading for the commuter station when I spotted her red hair in Jordbro. The train was six minutes away so she had time to pose for a few quick portraits. She is a student who enjoys photography, computer games, fashion and art.

The Summer Girl

The Summer Girl Summer is here
Summer arrived on Friday. It was the warmest day of the year with around 24C. When I noticed Linn not far from my favorite cafe I knew I had to take her portrait (I have a thing for redheads). Linn lives in Handen and she has her whole life in front of her as she will graduate from secondary school in just a few weeks time. I tried a Brenizer method portrait (second photo), I took 15 photos but trouble stitching them together, so this is the result of three photos.

The Law Student

Ellinor
The Law Student
Ellinor was easy to spot for several reasons. Lips. Nose ring. Outfit. Knit cap. Hair style. She was the first of the three girls I noticed on a bench at Poseidon's square in Handen. She is a secondary school student studying law. She lives at an old farm at the Gålö peninsula, and as I try to visit old farms every now and then I might visit Östra Bondäng later in the year, but it is a long bike ride from where I live. When it comes to hobbies Ellinor enjoys two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) computer graphics. Just like Tove, Ellinor is a member of Young Left. Oh, and before you ask, the black knit cap was a gift from a few friends. The second photo is a Brenizer style portrait. It is 15 photos shot at f.2.

Tove

Tove
We had a fine Spring day on Saturday so I decided to go out and shot some street portraits. Arriving to Poseidon's square in Handen I spotted three young women sitting on a bench. All three members of the same political party. Ung Vänster, (Young Left). This is Tove. A university student, and a future socionom. I asked her if she had any fun hobbies or interests and she mentioned her political work. More portrait from today to come in the next few days.

Moa

Moa
It was a beautiful day Sunday. Quite a few people at the Rudan nature reserve. Moa was sitting on a bench near the water enjoying the sunshine when I arrived. She is studying to become an occupational therapist, just like the Lolita that I met earlier in the week. Moa comes from Haparanda in the North of Sweden, but these days she lives in a student apartment here in Handen. When she's not tanning herself on the bench, chances are that you will find her either out jogging or working out at the gym. This is another Brenizer method portrait, fifteen photos stitched together. Shot with the nifty fifty at f.2.
