Down by the water

Förtöjningsring
I sometimes ride the bike along Norr Mälarstrand on Kungsholmen and often stop near an ice cream place close to the water. There are many benches there so I can be seen sitting there checking my messages and whatnot. And when I am done with that I will often take a few photos. Like this one of a mooring ring.

Autumn at Hagaparken

Gustav III:s paviljong Autumn Reflection Brunnsviken Gustav III:s paviljong Hagaparken Hagaparken Hagaparken End of boating season Marina
Update. My "new' router is down again. An Autumn visit to Hagaparken at Lake Brunnsviken in Solna. A beautiful area year round. In two of the photos, you can see Gustav III:s pavilion. The panorama shows the nearly empty marina at Stallmästaregården. This is a very popular park. Designed by King Gustav III, with a lot of help from a few architects, 250 years ag

Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen

Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen Speeding through Dog walkers Djurgårdsbrunnsviken
After photographing the artworks in the Etnografiska museum park, I walked over to the Folke Bernadotte bridge for a few photos of the Autumn colours down at the canal. Always a lot of people at Royal Djurgården. Strolling, running and fishing. Or showing off in their expencive speedboat.

Åsöberget

Autumn Skeppargränd Skeppargränd
Three Autumn photos from a hill on Södermalm in Stockholm. Åsöberget. The streets are Skeppargränd and Lotsgatan. All the old houses that you can find in this area are today owned by the City, through a company called Stadsholmen. This was a very poor part of Stockholm three hundred years ago. The people that lived here back then often worked in the shipping industry, or tar industry. Both streets have been used in very famous novels about Stockholm, by Albert Engström and Per-Anders Fogelström, to name a few.

That time of the year

That time of the year
The Autumn rule is to photograph at least one mushroom. Found this one while walking through the birch forest at Skogskyrkogården.

Brittsommar

Going the distance Humlegården Brittsommar Humlegården Humlegården Nice day for it Humlegården On the stairs
Brittsommar. A favorite word. It means a Summer-like day in Autumn. We have had quite a few of those this Autumn. On this day I parked the bike outside the National Library and went for a promenade in the park Humlegården. People were working out. Sleeping. Eating. Talking. And enjoying the Brittsommar.

Berzelii Park

Berzelii Park Berzelii park
I parked the bike at Nybroplan and went for an Autumn walk with the Canon. This is a park named after the chemist Jöns Jacob Berzelius. One of the founders of modern chemistry. Oh, and for good measure, I took the second photo in May when I was out on a Spring walk with the Canon.

Free apples!

Apple Crumb Pie Free apples
Easy to get some free apples this time of the year. Cycling home a while back, I stopped at a property along Gamla Dalarövägen in Handen where there were at least ten paper bags with free apples. A note said feel free to take a bag. So that is what I did. I made a salad with apples and carrots with dinner that evening, and then yesterday I made this Apple Crumb Pie after my brother gave me a recipe, sadly for him he flew to Cyprus on Sunday morning, so no pie for him!

That Old Tree

That Old Tree
I am nine days behind with the photo editing, but here is the last photo I took yesterday. Nice with the red berries on the old tree.

That Old Tree

That Old Tree
A September visit to the old tree, two days ago. It looked ready for Autumn. Maybe 18C. Summer already feels like a distant memory, although I still have a few hundred Summer snaps to go through.

Autumn scenes

Smedsudden Höstfärger Smedsudden
Horrible weather here for the last couple of weeks. Rain. Snow. Cold. Windy. Not my favorite. So here are a couple of colorful Autumn scenes from a recent bike ride through Kungsholmen. Top photo shows Eden, (restaurant at Smedsudden), and Marieberg, with the accordion building as a nice backdrop. Second photo taken at "Rålis", a popular park. There is a bridge/bike path that I often use hidden behind the trees. There'a big green lawn at Smedsudden and also a sandy beach where on a sunny Summer day you would find hundreds of sunbathers. This time of the year, you will only see dog walkers and runners, and that is where I stood when I snapped the last photo.

Drevviken

Drevviken Terrasshuset Drevviken
Cycling home a few days ago, I made a pit stop at the circular pier near the beach at Hökarängsbadet. I often do that as I like the views over lake Drevviken year round. This time it was just me and a guy fishing. He had no luck at all, but I came home with a couple of okay photos.

The bike path

Norr Mälarstrand
One of the classier streets in Stockholm, Norr Mälarstrand. Next to City Hall, and close to the water, parks and a beach or two. Also a pretty good street if you are a cyclist.

Blockhusudden

Available seating Blockhusudden Nice day for cycling Stora Sjötullen Höstfärger Gazebo Green Window
The most eastern part of Djurgården is called Blockhusudden. In Medieval times, it was an island on its own. The name Blockhusudden refers to a fortification built here during the rein of Gustav Vasa. It was no more than 200 years ago that people started building houses here. Most of them were/are very stately, owned by bankers and what have you, and that hasn't changed either.

Along the canal

Djurgårdsbrunnsbron View from a bridge Along the canal Strolling The canal Johansdal Horsin' Around The canal View from a bridge Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen
After crossing the bridge seen in yesterday's post, I followed the canal, Djurgårdsbrunnskanalen in Swedish, to the end, past two other bridges, and here are the photos I took. It is a great walk this, anytime of the year, but Spring and Autumn are my favorites. The house that you can see in one photo is a classic "Grosshandlarvilla". The man who had it built back in 1851, Johan Bäckström, named it after himself. I will continue the walk tomorrow.
