Long rant of the day

Eight construction workers Long rant of the day Stockholms Ström 2 Marina Tower Djurgården White t-shirts
So I decided to walk up to Fåfängan a while back. It is a lookout point on Södermalm in Stockholm. I took a lot of photos during my half hour-long visit. From maybe ten different spots. Walked up and down, right to left. Then sat down for a bite to eat and drink before continuing photographing. And then, back down below the stairs, I was ready to continue my bike ride as it was a beautiful day for that sort of thing. Only to realize that somewhere along the walk I had lost my key to the eBike. So I spent another half hour walking in my own footsteps, but the key was nowhere to be found. The eBike weighs 22 kilos, so you can't just lift it up and carry it to wherever. So I called a woman who owns a truck, she usually drives to Stockholm on a daily basis, but obviously not on this day. So I had to call a taxi. That costed me, 1000SEK. I then emailed Cykloteket, where I bought the bike, and told them my sad story and asked if they could give me two spare keys. No, that is impossible, you have to bring us the bike so that we can remove your old lock and replace it with a new, very expensive new one. Thanks, but no, thanks. So I opened the Gazelle website and five minutes later, thanks to the ID-number on the spare key that I had in a box at home, I ordered two new keys. Oh, and the photo here shows a building site where hundreds of new apartments are under construction at Tegelviksgatan. A ferry that will take you to Fjäderholmarna. The Marina Hotel at Danviken in Nacka. Expensive villas at Royal Djurgården and two women wearing white t-shirts sitting on a bench at another lookout point at Åsöberget. And, in the second photo, the stairs where I probably lost my key.

Preschool and Retirement Home

The new preschool The Preschool
An update from the building site at Lillgården in Tungelsta. One month ago it was just a wall, today they are three stories up. The field you can see on the panorama will be filled with row houses and apartments when they are done. I took these photos a few days ago and much of the snow have now melted.

New Apartments

Till Bloggen arken4 Time for a building site update. Construction workers are working seven days a week on the new apartment buildings here at Stora Arken in Handen. I shot this with the new pancake lens. This is 19 photos stitched together with a bit of overlapping of course. Second photo shows how the panorama looked before I cropped it. The builders are working fast. You might remember that I showed you the crane setup in May. A few of the workers watched me shoot another panorama, and they looked rather amused. They were from Poland if I'm not mistaken.

Want a job with a view?

Crane Setup
Are you afraid of heights? If so this is perhaps not a job for you. Crane Setup. Took them two days to finish the job. Not sure I would like to climb around up there, despite having no trouble with Acrophobia. Anyway, this is Stora Arken (The Big ark), in Handen. I showed you a few panoramic images from this construction site back in November of last years. Since then they have been busy rock blasting, and by the looks of it, it is now time to start the construction of the 222 new apartments that will be built here.

A safe workplace

Welcome to a safe workplace
A new school will be built behind this fence. Part of the Fredrika-Bremer secondary school in Handen. The contractor is PEAB. The price, around 200 Million SEK. The new school will be ready in March of 2016. The old school across the road will be demolished, and if I give you the weekend to guess what will be built on that property in the future, chances are you will guess wrong. As for the title of the post that is just a few rules about this workplace listed on the sign. Oh, and I took the photo a few days ago, hence the snow on the ground.

New Mall Port 73 The latest addition to the Port 73 mall in Handen will open for business in August. This is how it looks today. Use the Time Machine to see the same place four months ago. Both scenes are four photos shot in the portrait mode and then stitched together, I did that so that you could get a better view.

Wooden Structures

Tree House
New Apartment Building
Building Site
I used to build tree houses like the one you see here when I was a kid. But I haven't climbed up one for many years, but that's what I did the other day in Västerhaninge. As you probably know I enjoy documenting building sites and the second photo and the panorama shows one of two apartment buildings currently under construction at the old Parsonage Estate (the yellow building). I have showed you this place previously but that was several years ago when two other buildings where being built here. To see all posts from Prästgården, press here. The view from the tree house wasn't what I had hoped, as a few trees and the estate itself blocked the view of the new building. But if you want to see a photo from up there I uploaded one to flickr.

Glass Façade

Glass Façade

This is the glass façade at the new Biofuel Power Plant that Vattenfall is building next to the existing plant in Jordbro. I find it exiting to shoot at building sites, and I took a very similar photo of this exact view nine months ago. The plant is actually already in operation, although this is still a building site. If you understand Swedish you can read Anders Agebro's diary from the construction work here.

The Biofuel Power Plant

The Biofuel Power Plant

Quite a few changes since I last showed you a photo from the new power plant. At the moment 145 construction workers are busy building Vattenfall's biofuel power plant in Jordbro. It will be finished later this year. These two photos are from two visits last week. Some info in English about how a biofuel plant works if you follow this link. Or if you understand Swedish, you can read the project manager, Anders Agebro's diary here.

8th of November

This will be my third A Pohto A Week project. And the first where I will upload to this blog every week so stay tuned! This place was known as Aspnäs for many years. Bigger photo. Owned by the Wiger family who had a greenhouse business here for many years. Now it's a busy construction site. The new name is Wiger's Roses. Twenty one houses like the one you see here will be built at Aspnäs. The red building to the right is Tungelsta's oldest school building. I spent my first school year there back in 1970 as did my grandfather before me back in 1913 as you can see HERE.

Building Site Update

Zooming in on the building site

I try to follow a few building sites around Haninge. This is an update from Stora Arken (The Big Ark) in Handen. There will be six buildings like this one here. The location is pretty good. Only a few minutes from the mall, a bunch of schools and Lake Rudan.

The last photo I took from here was in the middle of September.

A big crane

A big crane

A building site in Handen called Stora Arken, or The Big Ark. This is twelve photos stitched. Came out perfect! Original size 2250*3000 pixels. Met a guy at the site, he used to live here many years ago. We talked about this place ( eight new houses like the one here) photography, he was still shooting film. Told him about flickr of course so he will probably see this cool shot!
