The Power Plant

The Power Plant
The Vattenfall owned power plant in Jordbro. They used to have a Christmas tree up on the roof. Too expensive perhaps?

The Power Plant

The Power Plant
The power plant in Jordbro on an interesting day, weatherwise. I biked through a hail storm, snow, and then some rain. That was followed by two hours with a blue sky and some serious sunshine, which was nice.

Power Plant at Sunset

Power Plant at Sunset
The Biofuel Power Plant in Jordbro during sunset yesterday. And this is also the answer to that logo question I asked you about back in December. It was the logo of Vattenfall who owns the power plant.

Glowing in the dark

Thermal Power Plant
Stock market line graph? Electrocardiogram? Heart monitor line? Nope, but a line that you can see glowing in the dark at the thermal power plant, Drefvikens Värmeverk in Jordbro this time of the year.

December Sunset

The Power Plant
Sunset at the power plant in Jordbro early afternoon in December. This was a couple of days ago. I was on the bike and stopped for a few photos when I noticed all the smoke.

Logging

Biofuel Power Plant
Lots of logging in Haninge this month. This is near the Biofuel power plant in Jordbro. I wonder if the cut down trees will end up as fuel at the power plant?

Glass Façade

Glass Façade

This is the glass façade at the new Biofuel Power Plant that Vattenfall is building next to the existing plant in Jordbro. I find it exiting to shoot at building sites, and I took a very similar photo of this exact view nine months ago. The plant is actually already in operation, although this is still a building site. If you understand Swedish you can read Anders Agebro's diary from the construction work here.

The New Biofuel Plant

The Biofuel Power Plant

The Biofuel Power Plant

Quite a few changes since I last showed you a photo from the new power plant. At the moment 145 construction workers are busy building Vattenfall's biofuel power plant in Jordbro. It will be finished later this year. These two photos are from two visits last week. Some info in English about how a biofuel plant works if you follow this link. Or if you understand Swedish, you can read the project manager, Anders Agebro's diary here.

Reaching For the Sky

The new biofuel power plant

This construction site with cranes right and left will be the new thermal power plant in Jordbro. Owned by Vattenfall. Built next to the existing plant that I visited last year during the open house weekend. The cost of the new power plant is around 600 Million SEK. The source of energy from a biofuel plant comes from wooden pellets, regarded as one of the substitutes for fossil fuels like coal and oil for heating. I'm no expert on how this works, but Vattenfall has some information available in English. I have always been intrigued by building sites so below are a slideshow with the photos I have taken during the construction process so far. The first number of photos are old ones.

Skywatch Friday.

The Bio Fuel Power Plant

The Power Plant

This is a panorama made from six photos.

A brand new view of the thermal power plant in Jordbro. For a couple of weeks workers have been busy cutting down trees where the new biofuel power plant will be built. The new plant will be using wooden pellets made from wood, crops, and waste. It will be finished in 2010.

Biofuel Power Plant

Biofuel Power Plant

A panorama made from four photos, showing the Jordbro thermal power station. Owned by Vattenfall, the largest generator of heat in Europe. There was an open house here today. I took the guided tour. Very interesting. The source of energy comes from wooden pellets, regarded as one of the substitutes for fossil fuels like coal and oil for heating. If you want to know how it works there's more info from Vattenfall here.

Biofuel Power Station

This is Drefvikens Power Station in Jordbro. Where the electricity comes from. Just hours after I posted this a fire broke out in the power plant. No news yet about that.
