Cemetery Bridge

Scattering Garden
Theme Day. Bridges. This is a newly renovated bridge at the century old Skogskyrkogården cemetery. A new cremation scattering garden in a natural ravine opened here earlier in the Summer. I walked around it recently and everything looked fine. I will show you more of it in a later post. The renovated bridge is called Lewerentz-bron after one of the original architects who is buried at the cemetery btw. I noticed the guy walking over the bridge, he spotted me while I took a few photos. I am pretty sure that we have met somewhere, at my favorite café, maybe. But I got the feeling that he was not up for a chat, so I didn't approach him.

New Bridge

New Bridge New Bridge
The new pedestrian bridge crossing the Nynäsbanan railway track at the Rudan nature reserve is now open. The old one was deemed unsafe after someone drove over it with a car, or at least that was the rumor I heard. The houses in the background are all new, this is the same area I showed you a few days ago with the scaffolding. What you see to the left in the top photo is a new school.

The bridge

Bridge
During my promenade through the park I noticed that no one had walked over the bridge crossing Rocklösaån, since the latest snowfall, so I walked around it to get a "clean" shot from the other side, because why not. The yellow house is where the local bands play their music. Before that it was a privade recidence. One of the kids that grew up there, Birdman, also known as Jocke became a musician and have played at the local rock festival several times.

Looking back

View from a bridge
Usually, when cycling home from Stockholm I use a bridge called Skanstullsbron as I leave Södermalm. If you stop just before it ends and look back, this is part of the view. In the photo you can see a few large buildings. To the left, Södersjukhuset, where I was born, and to the right, another hospital, called Rosenlunds sjukhus. The reason I stopped was because of the Autumn colors, but you probably already figured that out. Those trees grow along the most popular walk in Stockholm btw.

Under the Bridges of Stockholm

Under the Bridges of Stockholm
I was halfway down the steep slope here on Royal Djurgården when I spotted the ferry in the canal, so I stopped and took a few quick shots because it is in fact two photos stitched together. The bridge is named after Folke Bernadotte.

Two bridges

Weather Report Bron
Two more mist photos. Both showing pedestrian bridges along Nederstaleden, (a straight), in Västerhaninge. It was one of those days, really. Mist, mist and more mist. The first bridge is close to the commuter station and is mostly used by people going to and from the station, and the shopping center. The second bridge is a few hundred meters to the soutn and it is new. Well, not really, but as I remember photographing it when it was being constructed it counts as new in my head. From where I shot it, it will take you first to the pet cemetery, in a birch forest, and then to the Håga industrial park. But before you get to the industries you will walk by a place where I shoot Spring flowers most every year.

A coffee stop at a canal

Lift-bridge
Igelsta Strandentré Södertälje Bratwurst Time
Here are a few photos from a very brief thermos coffee stop in Södertälje while on my way home from a limestone quarry at Mörkö. Södertälje is a city famous for a few things, including Björn Borg. Hopefully I will make a longer stop in the near future and show you some of the the sights. The top photo here shows the railway bridge crossing the canal. It is a lift bridge built a decade ago. Photographed from Igelsta strand, which used to be a very dull industrial part of the city. At the moment JM is building a lot of new homes, Kanalhusen here, just meters from the canal, and as you can see there were one or two locals down by the water enjoying the sunshine.

Olydig

Olydig
Swedish word of the day. Olydig. Disobedient. Kinda funny me thinks. As seen on the Bridge to nowhere earlier today.

Not the Golden Gate

Not the Golden Gate
As I'm typing this there's a ship on its way to Stockholm from China. Last I checked the ship was stuck in the Mediterranean because of bad weather. The cargo, a golden bridge, 140 meters long weighing 3700 tonnes. This is not the old bridge btw, but when I noticed this thingy by the side of the road to Alvsta I started thinking about that golden bridge.

This Just In!

This Just In!
Is that a blue sky? If so it was there for several minutes. Don't think I have seen something like that for at least a couple of weeks! Must have been the first time this month. As witnessed at the Krigslia bridge one hour ago.

And the award goes to...

And the award goes to...
...any other bridge really. I call this one the bridge to nowhere. Mostly because I took a photo of it before it was finished. But it is a bit on the ugly side.

The military bridge

Militärbron
This is the bridge at Flottsbrokanalen, between Tullingesjön and Albysjön. The canal is four hundred meters long. The bridge was constructed by the military from Ing 1 back in 1975 and is sometimes called "Militärbron". Before the bridge was built there was a pontoon bridge here. And before that this was a part of Göta landsväg, (highway), a road that dates back to medieval days. It was the only road that connected Stockholm to the south of the country.

Serpentinväg

Serpentinväg Pedestrian bridge
Swedish word of the day. Serpentinväg. New hairpin turn at Vegastaden. The new pedestrian bridge crosses the railway line Nynäsbanan at the new commuter station that will open for traffic in April. There is only one entrance so if you live at the "wrong" end this is the path you will have to use to and from the new commuter station.

Bridge to nowhere
The bridge across the railroad at Håga in Västerhaninge will never win an architectural award.

The Bridge

The Bridge
The Krigslida bridge as seen,(at least partly), on a typical November day. If you want to you can now sit down and enjoy the bridge from the new benches that I showed you in yesterdays post.

Concrete Bridge

Concrete Bridge
I took ten photos yesterday. One was a selfie to celebrate Vårdagjämningen, and another was this black&white snap of a detail on the Krigslida bridge. Shot with the cheap Tamron zoom lens using the old Canon 550.

Wheat Field

The bridge Standing Tall
A wheat field at the Nödesta Västergård photographed from two different angles on separate days. Always trying to think a bit outside the box. First photo with the Krigslida bridge, shot with the silent zoom lens. Second photo taken with the nifty fifty.

Winter Bridge

Winter Bridge We got some more snow this morning but a few hours later it was already thawing. This is a bridge in the park in Tungelsta.
