Lunch in the pasture
The Björklund horse farm is situated near the iron Age grave field, and the Gullringskärret nature reserve. The only way to get to the farm is to take the Viking Era gravel road from Västerhaninge. The road ends at the farm and you can only continue on foot or on bicycle. Heading home recently I stopped at the pasture when I noticed a few horses eating dandelions. It was a very peaceful scene and all I could hear was bird song. I think this photo works well for the theme day which is Tranquility. Click here to view thumbnails for all participants

Spring Road
One of the old roads in Haninge that I use on a daily basis. It probably dates back to the Viking Era. You will pass this tunnel of spring colors just after the Iron Age grave field and the Björklund horse farm, two places I have shown you before. We will pretend not to see the horse manure up ahead.

The Mayor
This is Gilbert de Wendel, the Mayor of Haninge. He is retiring now after eight years as Mayor. But he told me that he will stay in politics for a few years as a lay judge. His big hobby is sailing so he will probably have more time for that now. We met at the Björklund horse farm on Saturday when I was heading home and Gilbert was out walking his dog. I asked him about a rumour I had heard about the new National harness racing track planned for Tungelsta, but the latest I had heard was that it had been moved to Kalvsvik. The Mayor claimed to have no knowledge about that.

Persistence Pays Off
I have a thing for redheads. Some time ago I asked this young woman for a portrait when I met her at Nederstaleden, but she turned me down, claiming to have a bad hair day or something like that. I don't give up that easy so when I met her again a few days ago she had changed her mind about being photographed. This is Ylva. She was on her way to the Björklund horse farm (see the slideshow), which is owned by the police Thomas. The horse farm is where she keeps her horse Putte. A North Swedish Horse. Ylva is a secondary school student, and is a future decorator (house painter). She told me that there are six girls in her class of fifteen students.

After the Rain
After five weeks of non-stop sunshine this summer, there has been a few rainy days of late. This was the bike path at the Björklund horse farm in Västerhaninge two days ago.
Skywatch Friday.

Horse Carriage Ride
Thomas from the horse farm at Björklunda out on a horse carriage ride at the ancient grave field in Jordbro. I told him that I had a few photos from the farm at flickr, but it turns out it was just two panoramas and two horse photos.

Short uphill climb
This must have been the warmest day of the year. It was 20 C when I woke up. It was 25C when I got on the bike. I was sweating when I took this photo 18 minutes later. That's how long it took me to reach the ancient grave field. I always take this road when I'm heading for Jordbro or Handen. This is Viking land and there's no cars allowed here. This is how green it gets I think. We are expecting 28 C tomorrow. I think I will have to hit the beach tomorrow if only just to test the water temperature!
