Way Out Farsta

&nova
It is Summer. Which means that there are festivals everywhere. Big and small. Cycling home from a street party in Stockholm, I could hear music from a park in Farsta, so I pedaled that way. It was the second ever rock festival, Way Out Farsta. They took that name to poke fun at one of the largest festivals in Sweden. Way Out West in Gothenburg. This event was much smaller. On stage when I arrived was a three-piece band called &nova. A punk band. Lumi, Filippa and Joel. I did what my brother used to do at the annual rock festival in Tungelsta, I tried counting the crowd. Maybe three hundred people spread out on the green lawn and elsewhere in the park, eating and drinking. Listening to the young bands performing while the younger siblings were playing their games. A bit of fun for everyone.

An Evening of Rock'n'roll

All The Way
When the Summer day had become a Summer evening the rock band Lugnet took to the stage. Always a crowd favorite they looked very different this time around with three new members. I had a chat with the original singer, Roger, just before the band started to play and he was anxious to see,(and hear), how the new singer would handle his songs and lyrics. I have to say that he did good, as did the two new and possibly temporary guitarists. Lugnet plays Rock'n'roll from the early and mid 1970s and they are a great live band. Rock on! If you for some reason can't see the sixty photos slideshow above, just press here to open the set at flickr.

Ban Bianca

Ban Bianca Ban Bianca The Show Man
Ban Bianca put on a great show at the Trädgårdsrocken festival in the park in Tungelsta. The singer, Victor Ekvall has the energy of ten men and used all of it during the bands performance, even climbing up to the top of the stage for a bit of gymnastics. The band have played together for four years and released a few songs, and have been touring a lot.

MISA

MISA MISA
No sunshine today. Dark skies when MISA took to the stage during the annual rock festival in the park in Tungelsta. They sang a cappella and did among other songs a few abba classics. The event is known as Trädgårdsrocken and is a local institution by now this is the 18 year of the festival. So far the rain has stayed away and as I'm typing this the reggae band The Clifftones are performing. More photos in the coming days.

Badge

Fredrik Haake Break Down Zethzon
The last act to play at the rock festival in Tungelsta was a new band for me. Badge. I had some trouble describing their intensive performance and unique musical style, but I found a quote from Madcap Music Review: Badge is a furious mix of Mississippi Delta Blues, Led Zeppelin, and Psychobilly. One of those bands that are best live. At night. Outdoors, on a Summer evening and we got all that so it was a great finale of the festival. Enjoy the slideshow!

Abramis Brama

Sign of the horns Enkel Biljett Abramis Brama
A bit of Stoner rock in the Summer evening. Abramis Brama on stage during the rock festival in Tungelsta last Saturday. The name is the Latin word for Carp bream. The Stockholm band have played together since 1997. For a rock band today they are a but unconventional as they sing in Swedish and not English.

Lugnet

Young Fans 70's Rock Rock Photography
Lugnet played a good gig at the Trädgårdsrocken festival. 70s rock should be seen live on a Summer evening, and these guys are always worth waiting for. They have a new video out soon (with them as zombies), and have a signed contract for a new CD. Rock on!

Park Life

Around 1500 people gathered in the park in Tungelsta on Saturday for the annual rock festival. The official name is Trädgårdsrocken. It is a free festival organized by Musikcentralen, open for anyone. Lots of drinking in the warm weather but no real problems. I'm still editing photos but here are a few candids.

M.O.B on stage during Trädgårdsrocken in the park in Tungelsta. Performing Legions Of The Antichrist. All ten bands used the same drums (more or less), which was great as the drum set was brand new. The owner figured they would sound great after the festival when they were played-in.

Mother Kasabian during their gig at the rock festival in Tungelsta on Saturday. The festival was a big success. The park was crowded all day and the weather was great. Truck Bed Rock Festival

Peter Waljus That would be the English name of the Flakrocken festival that was held at Skogsekeby in Tungelsta on Saturday. It was the fourth year in the row that a truck bed was turned into a stage. Ten bands played. I watched five of them. On the top photo is Peter Waljus, the lead singer of the band Highride. The weather was perfect. Warm and sunny during the day and the evening wasnt too bad either.
