Elvis Tribute & Slideshow

My last post from this years Grand Prix Raggarbil event. This was the eleventh year in a row that I attended the big meet, held for the first time this year at Lissma park in Huddinge. Always a lot of fun of course with all the different type of cars and many interesting people, including Anders Karlstedt who has his own Elvis Tribute show. På hösten faller löfven

Could be a correct guess in more ways than one this. It is a clever word pun. The sentence means that the trees lose their leaves come Autumn, but also that the prime Minister Stefan Löfven will lose the general election in early September. As seen on a 1958 Pontiac at the Grand Prix Raggarbil event at Lissma park in Huddinge.

Attacking Lion

Two photos of a Mercury Monarch from 1949. Shot the hood ornament photo using my Yongnuo 50mm f/1.4 lens. Haven't used the lens much this Summer but decided to give it a try at the car event.

Dressed for the occasion

Two candid photos from the 2018 Grand Prix Raggarbil event at Lissma park in Huddinge. Both styles fits in perfectly at this event. There's usually a price for best dressed "raggarbrud" and this woman was my favorite. Not sure if there was a price for best sound guy. This guy is a member of the Moonshine Cruisers club, (the organisers), and I have seen him with the microphone ready at previous visits to this event.

Hearses

As far as I know no one died at the big greaser meet at Lissma park yesterday. But I did see a couple of hearses at the event. The white one is a 1959 Dodge Coronet. It is owned by a member of the Scandinavian Hearse Society. He seems to be looking for a good woman. The second one is the Deadtour. That one is a Cadillac dedicated to the departed ✞ Olivia ✞ by the looks of it.

Grand Prix Raggarbil 2018

The annual greaser meet, Grand Prix Raggarbil took place today. Hundreds of raggare from all over arrived in their old cars. I walked around with two cameras for a couple of hours, saw quite a few familiar faces and cars. The event had moved this year and was held at Lissma park in Huddinge. I will show you more photos in the days to come. The first photo shows a 1939 Ford Deluxe. Second snap is of a 1955 Star Chief Safari.

Ribby Ängar

Two new apartment building currently under construction at Ribby in Västerhaninge, an area that has undergone a lot of change in the last decade as you can see in my flickr album.

He Hears Everything

The Prime Minister Stefan Löfven hears everything with the help of his antenna ears. But will it be enough to win the general election? As seen at the Krigslida commuter station a couple of days ago.

Time Flies

The "midsommarsång" at Årsta Havsbad. Midsummer feels a long time ago. But it was just two months ago.

The Optimists

I noticed a few optimists at the beach, Årsta Havsbad yesterday. The meteorologist was quoted to saying that Friday might be the last real warm Summer day. But they are usually wrong.

Summer Evening Fun

I was sitting on the veranda after dinner when I heard a motor up in the sky. It was a powered paraglider out on an evening flight.

Crooked Nose

I noticed that someone had put a crooked nose on quite a few election posters in Tungelsta yesterday. The politician seen here is Sven Gustafsson from the Moderate party. I have met him a couple of times. Turns out that it is another politician that is responsible for this. Martin Hagwall who represents Alternativ För Sverige. He was confronted about this and responded that it was a certain type of people that looked like this. The Swedish general election is three weeks away now. goo.gl/bGn98N

Ice Cream Photographer

A candid snap from the pier at the guest marina in Nynäshamn last week. The marina is a popular place for both locals and tourists/visitors. There are a couple of nice eateries, pubs, music scenes, kiosks and a good place for fresh fish, and while my travel buddies for the day queued for some tasty salmon I went for a photo promenade.

Bat Boy

Socialist Bat Boy scaring away passers-by at the entrance to the Haninge mall. The Swedish general election is four weeks away. Batboy represents Rättvisepartiet socialisterna, ( Socialist Justice Party).

Two Dudes

Two candid snaps from Poseidon's Square. Cool dad of the day on his inline skates, and heavily tattooed skateboarder. Plato Plomo translates to, Take the money or I will take your life, but you already knew that.

Babels Torn

Very picturesque villa at Dalarö. I could move in tomorrow. It is called Babels torn. It is a four storey high building, although that is tricky to see from this angle. The house was built a century ago by Carl Carlsson who also built another house, (second photo), where he had a department store for many years, Carl Carlssons Diverseaffär. Today that building houses a popular eatery called Restaurang Ankaret. Facts provided by Lars Palmgren, via Sune Nilsson two members of the local historical society Haninge Hembygdsgille.

Jutholmen

The view from Amerikaberget at Dalarö is a good one. You can see a lot of water, boats and ferries crossing the bay, and also this little islet, it is called Jutholmen. In total there are 19 building on the islet, and at least, (4), people live here year round.

Elskåp

I enjoy shooting utility boxes. Mostly they are the places where the local graffiti artist will leave a mark. Not so here just a stone's throw away from the church at Dalarö.

The female of the species...

..is more photogenic than the male. As noted while having coffee at the cultural centre (Kulturhuset), at Poseidon's Square in Handen earlier in the week.

Kör För Livet

Nine traditional small horse-drawn carriages travelled from Nyköping to Haninge this week. I met up with them this afternoon near the Medieval church in Österhaninge. They were on their way to Tyresta National Park to take part in the annual "Nordsvenskens Dag", the North Swedish Horse Day. The reason for this ride, Kör För Livet was to collect money to the Swedish Childhood Cancer Fund. Stefan and Kate Nilsson, that breed this particular horse, lost their son to cancer a few years ago. And for those of you that understands Swedish, and want to learn more, and perhaps donate some money, read more here. Sail boats

Sailing in Sweden. Very popular this time of the year. More facts here. Spotted these three boats while walking down the picturesque Strandvägen road in Nynäshamn recently.
