Jivestä / Fuzzy yarn

Miniatyyripiireissä olen silloin tällöin nähnyt käytettävän Novitan Jive-lankaa. Siinä on langassa pieniä nukkia valmiiksi.

A Finnish yarn company called Novita made a yarn called Jive few years ago. It has been quite popular with miniaturists as it is fuzzy with tiny fringes.

Aluksi kokeilin virkata Jiveä sellaisenaan, mutta siitä tuli liian paksua. Neulomalla tulee vähän ohuempia mattoja, joten neulomalla tein kuvan matot, kokeilin jopa pyöreätä muotoa! Aloitin kerran myös ristipistellä Jiveä aida-kankaalle, mutta se oli liian hidasta ja työlästä.

Here are my first attempts with Jive. I knitted two rugs with it, it seemed a bit flatter that way. I once started to cross stitch Jive, but it was way too boring and time consuming.

Ohuempi matto oli haaveissa silti. Kerran keksin virkata Jiveä toisen langan väliin ja niin sainkin ohuen maton ja nukat pystyyn :) Ei tämäkään tosin nopeaa ole, sen myönnän heti.

I still dreamed of making a thinner rug of Jive. Once I came up with an idea to crochet Jive between a thinner yarn and it worked - now I have a thinner rug and the fringes are up :) Although this is not quick to make either, takes a lots of time to settle Jive just right.

Peittoja / Bedding for bunkbed

Kerran selatessani ihania Sycamore Springsin nettisivuja, huomasin sänkyjen näyttävän hieman paljailta. Sitten olinkin lähettämässä sinne pakettia, joten siihen piti lisätä jotain pehmeää. Ommellut petivaatteet ovat kaksipuoleisia. Päiväpeittoihin yhdistin virkatut isoäidin neliöt viistottain, että peitossa on vähän särmää.

While browsing the wonderful site of Sycamore Springs I noticed the beds looked a bit bare. So when I was sending there a package, I made sure there was something for the beds too! The sewn fabric bedding is double sided. I connected the crocheted granny squares diagonally, to give the quilt a different look.

Kesävaihto / Summer swap

Jos ihan totta puhutaan, niin tämän blogin postaukset ovat jääneet melkein kaksi vuotta jälkeen... Teen enemmän kuin ehdin/viitsin blogata, mutta yritän. 

If I tell the truth, this blog is almost two years behind... I create more than I have the time or energy to blog, but I try.

Sylvanian Families & Calico Critters foorumilla järjestettiin vaihto kesällä 2015. Piti lähettää 25£ arvosta Sylvanian juttuja ja yllätyksiä, ja vaihdossa sai vastaavan paketin. Kuvien jutut ja vähän muutakin lähti Sugarbush Valleyyn :)

The Sylvanian Families & Calico Critters forum organized a summer swap in 2015. One sends £25 worth of Sylvanian stuff and other surprises, and you receive similar package in return. The items in the picture and some other stuff found their way to the Sugarbush Valley :)

Vastalahjaksi Briteistä saapui Sylvanian messujuttuja, kuten pinssejä ja ilmapalloja. Sain myös etsimäni lammasvauvan ja ensimmäisen TsumTsum pehmoleluni :) Tämä oli ihana vaihto!

From the Great Britain I received Sylvanian accessories like badges and balloons. I also got a Sylvanian lamb baby I wished for, and my first TsumTsum plushie. It's actually Daisy Duck, but looks more like Webby to me. This was a lovely swap!

Päiväpeittoja / Bedspreads

Voih, vuosi on vilahtanut jo pitkälle. Kaamos ja työstressi ovat vieneet paljon voimia, mutta nyt päivät ovat valoisammat, joten yritetään päivä kerrallaan.

Oh my, the year has started so quickly. Polar nights and stress of work have taken time and energy from me, but now the days are lighter, so I shall try one day at a time.

Kuusamilla on kolme lasta ja kaksi sukulaislasta luonaan, joten Villa Annassa riittää pieniä sänkyjä. Virkkasin kerrossänkyihin päiväpeitot (vaikka petivaatteetkin puuttuvat), jokainen sai erivärisen. Lankana käytin Novitan lopetettua Virkkauslankaa, ja keltaisen kerän metsästys vauvan sänkyyn kesti hieman. Tein omasta päästä kuvioita päiväpeittoihin.

The Honeysuckles have three kids and two related children living with them, so Villa Anna is full of small bed. I crocheted bedspreads for the bunk bed (even though actual bedding is still missing). I used different coloured fabrics, and made up patterns on them.

Enkeli / Angel

Iloista toista adventtia!

Joyful second advent!

Osallistuin viime vuonna Sylvanian foorumin joulukoristevaihtoon kahdella vauvalla. Toinen on enkeli, ja siihen rooliin nukkuva vauva on suloinen. Virkkasin puettavan mekon ja erilliset siivet. Sädekehä tulee pupun korvien ympärille ja siitä lähtee kätevä ripustusnauha.

I made two ornaments for the Sylvanian forum Christmas ornament swap. The second one is an angel and I think the sleeping babies work are very cute in angel dress. I crocheted a dress and separate wings. The halo is around the bunny ears and easy place for the hanging string.

Pehmeä koppa / Soft cot

Virkkaamalla voi tehdä melkein mitä tahansa, ja se on hauskinta! Silmukoita voi lisätä minne vain ja jälkikäteen (toisin kuin ompelu vaatii suunnittelua). Jostain tuli idea virkata kantokassi vauvalle, jota olisi helppo liikutella eikä vie paljon tilaa. Patjan tein pehmikkeeksi.

What I love about crocheting, that so many things can be done with it! You can add loops where you need them even afterwards (versus sewing requires lots of planning). I came up with an idea to crochet a cot. Easy to move and doesn't take much space. I made a mattress too.

Ketäpä tässä huijaamaan - söpöyshän oli tämän projektin tärkein tavoite!

Well, who am I kidding... Cuteness was the biggest goal for this project!

Mekkotehdas / Dress factory

Kokeilin virkata mekkoja vielä pienemmille Pikkaraisille. Ensimmäisenä tehty oranssimekko onnistui hyvin ja väri sopii kauniisti punertavanruskealle karhulle. Harmaa karhulapsonen sai sinisävyisestä langasta mekon, jonka helmaan tein reikiä. Myyrän mekosta vasta hauska tulikin ja miehustan koristelu onnistui hauskasti.

I decided to scale smaller and crocheted dresses for baby critters. First I made an orange dress for redbrown bear baby and it turned out quite nice! The blue dress for grey bear baby has holes in the hem and it wides a bit too much perhaps. The red dress on mole baby is the cutest, the details turned out well.

Pätkävärjätyt langat ovat kaikkein hauskimpia, niillä saa satunnaista eläväisyyttä yksinkertaiseen mekkoonkin. Tämä valko-liila helmilanka on ihana, ja siitä tein kauniin mekon kettulapsoselle.

The space dyed yarns are the cutest, and they give some random life to simple outfits. I adore the white and lilac shades of this yarn and made a beautiful dress of it to fox child.

Ruokailusetti / Dining room set

Löysin kirpparilta nukkekodin huonekaluja! Se ei ole kovinkaan tavallista täällä, ja ne ovat jopa suunnilleen oikean kokoisia. Valkoinen ja neutraaliväritys sopii, kun en vielä tiedä mihin tai kenelle nämä päätyvät. Valitettavasti setti ei ole puuta, vaan jonkin sortin massaa. No, kallis löytöhän tämä ei ollut.

I found dollhouse furniture in the fleamarket! It's not common at all around here, and they happened to be the right size too. They white and neutral, but that means they work in most homes. Sadly they are not wood, but made of some sort of mass. Well, they were not expensive.

Virkkasin pari tyynyä, väri piristää tätä settiä.

I crocheted some pillows, some colour will cheer this set up. I don't know to where or whom the set will end up.

Isoäidin neliöitä / Granny squares

Innostuin kokeilemaan isoäidin neliöitä, tietysti nukkekotikoossa. Pidän enemmän siksak-reunoista, joten liitin ne toisiinsa sivuttain ja virkkasin reunuksen. Ensimmäisestä peitosta tuli vihreä ja sopiva Sylvanian kerrossänkyyn, joten sille tein kaveriksi keltaisen peiton. Nämä peitot saattaa nähdä joskus Sylvanian Havenissa.

I tried out granny squares, of course in miniature size. I prefer the zigzag edges, so I attached to each other diagonally and crocheted a frame. The first one was green and suitable to Sylvanian Families bunk beds, so I made a yellow one too to match it. You might see a peek of the blankes in Sylvanian Haven.

Vohvelia / Waffles

Valitan, ei ole oikeita vohveleita tarjolla täällä, vaan otsikko viittaa vohveli-virkkaukseen. Kokeilin sitä päiväpeitossa, josta tuli ruutumainen ja suloinen.

Sorry, no real waffles here today, the title refers to waffle stitches. I tried it on a day spread for dollhouse, and it turned out cute.

Peiton reunoihin tein piparireunaa.

I finished the edges with some scallops.

Lisää mekkoja / More dresses

Ensimmäinen virkattu mekko Pikkaraiselle onnistui aika hyvin suoralta kädeltä, mutta toinen vaati jo useamman kerran purkamista ja uusintaa. Monesti mekko leveni liikaa, joten levennyksiä piti harventaa selvästi. Mekon tein tällä kertaa yksivärisestä langasta, joten suunnittelin siihen yläosan, joka jatkaa helman piparkakkureunoja. Mekko esittelee ponityttönen, joka ei ole blogissa ennen vilahtanutkaan. Aika veikeä otus vai kuinka?

My success with the first crocheted dress for dollhouse critters seems to have been luck, as the second one was much harder. The dress kept being too wide, so I had to unravel and make less increments to it. The yarn was solid colour this time, so I came up with the idea to duplicate the scalloped hem to the upper part of the dress. The dress is presented by a Forest Families pony child, you haven't seen her before on my blog. Quite cute for a pony, don't you agree?

Kolmas mekko syntyi vihreästä langasta ja siitä tuli yksinkertaisempi. Kuvan perusteella helman lehtimäiset kuviot eivät näytä lainkaan lehtimäisiltä, mutta luonnossa ne ovat vähän paremmin tunnistettavissa. Pidän kovasti virkatuista mekoista näillä lapsosilla!

I made a third dress from green yarn and it's more simple. I made little leafs to the hem, but it isn't so apparent at all in the photo. They look a bit more like leafs in real life, but it wasn't a success. I adore these figures with crocheted dresses though!

Virkkausta / Crocheted

Keräilijäkollegan inspiroimana kansainvälisellä Sylvanian foorumilla kokeilin virkata vaatteita nukkekotiin. DMC:n nro 8 liukuvärjätty puuvillalanka antoi mekolle ihanan ulkonäön! Käytin 0,6mm koukkua tähän.

Inspired by a fellow collector over the Sylvanian Families forum, I crocheted an outfit to a bear girl. The sliding shades of DMC perle cotton 8 gave the dress wonderful look :) I used JMRA 11 = 0,6 mm hook. 

Villa Anna on tosin nähnyt virkattuja asuja aiemminkin, kuvassa osa vuosien takaa. Lapsuudessa siskoni kanssa virkkasimme väelle paljon vaatteita, taisimme osata virkata ennen kuin lukea. Mistä lie keksimme lierihattujen tekemisen, sitä en vieläkään ymmärrä.

Villa Anna has seen crocheted outfits before too, some are pictured above. In our childhood me and my sister used to crochet lots of outfits for our dollhouse figures, I think we crocheted before we read. I still don't understand how we came up with making bonnets.

Pikkuliinat / Doilies

Olen virkannut nukkekotiin pikkuisia liinoja. Käytän noin 0,6 mm koukkua ja vanhat virkkauslankani ovat paksuutta noin no 70.

I have crocheted little doilies for dollhouse too. I use 0.6mm hook and my vintage crochet thread is no 70.

Virkatut liinat sopivat parhaiten maljakoiden ja kukkaruukkujen alle. Kuvassa on miniruukkuun tekemäni kukka. Käytin Marian syklaamin ohjetta (kiitos!), mutta lehdet ovat ihan jotain muuta.

The crocheted doilys are best under vases and flower pots. This tiny flower pots has flowers I made. I sued Marias cyclamen instructions (thank you!), but leaves are different.

Töppöset / Booties

Punaiset töppöset sain lahjaksi asiakkaalta kerran, tarkoitettu avaimenperäksi. Pitihän itsekin kokeilla mallia, käytin ohutta lankaa kokoa no 70 ja ilmeisesti 0,6mm koukkua. Tein ruudut isoäidinneliöllä ja muutamalla saakin jo tossun aikaiseksi. Virtahepolapsonen niitä mielellään esittelee :)

I got the pink booties from a customer, its a keyring I think. I decided to try the model myself with no 70 cotton crochet yarn and 0,6 mm hook. I made granmothers squares and few are enough for one bootie. Forest Families hippo girl is happy to model the booties :)

Kukkia ja virkkausta / Flowered and crocheted

Minulla on muutamia nukkekotikukkia esittelemättä, jopa kuvaamatta. Tässä on Marian ohjeella tehty pelargonia, näitä olen tehnyt kaksikin. Lehdet eivät ole oikeanlaiset, käytän mitä sattuu helposti löytymään. Alla virkkaamani pikkuliina, malli omasta päästä.

I have some dollhouse flowers unpublished, even unphotographed. This one is geranium made with Marias instructions, I made two of these. The leaves are different, I use what I happen to make. I crocheted the little tablecloth.

Tämä puu on tehty nukkekotikerhossamme. Teimme oasis-sienestä pallot, johon liimasimme kukkia. Minä tein omani tähtileikkurilla ja lisäilin koristeita. Pitäisi tehdä piha tällaisia varten.

My friend and I made flower trees one time. We made balls of flower foam and glued flowers and other decorations to it. I used star-shaped flowers. I should have yard for these kind of things.

Pitkästä aikaa nukkekotiasiaa

Paikallisen nukkekotikerhon kokoukset ovat menneet minulta ohi aina =/ Joko on jo muita suunnitelmia tai olen unohtanut ne. Onnekseni ystäväni, johon tartutin nukkekotikärpäsen, innostui omasta nukkekotikerhosta :) Aloitimme tammikuun puolivälissä tapaamaan viikottain nukkekotiharrastuksen merkeissä. Tässä ensimmäisen kerran tuotokset:
So far I have missed all gatherings of a local dollhouse club. Luckily a friend of mine (whom I have passed enthusiasm for dollhouses) wanted to meet with me every week and make something to our dollhouses :) Here's what we did at the first time:

Jakkaroita oasis-sienen pidikkeestä Marian ohjeella. Emme kieputtaneet jalkoihin lankaa, vaan maalasimme ne valkoisella akryylivärillä. Kuvassa on myös Finn-pipetin kärjestä tehty shampanjalasi xD Lähinnä kokeilu miten moinen toimisi.
Stools were made with Marias tutorial. The green thing is a holder for wet floral foam (oasis). We didn't use thread to cover it, we painted it white. There's also a champagne glass in the picture, it's made of a disposable nib of Finn-pipette.

Tässä rouvat kokeilevat uusia jakkaroitaan. Vasemmalla muuan taiteilija, jonka poliitikko-mies (entiseltä ammatiltaan kirurgi) ei päässyt kyläilemään. Oikealla oma pupurouvani -Minunkin pitäisi keksiä enemmän tarinaa nukkekodin asukkaille...
Here are the ladies testing their new stools. On the left is an artist, whose politician husband (who used to be surgeon) couldn't come to a visit. On the right is my rabbit -I should come up with storys to people in my dollhouse...
